To say I love this article is like to say nothing at all. I needed this like a glass of water on a hot day. I admit I spend an unhealthy amount of time lurking around MDL profiles - one of my favourite activities on this site. I really appreciate other people's sense of beauty and aesthetics, as well as the time they devoted to make their profiles so appealing. I draw inspiration from them. I even have a link list of my favourite profiles that I keep revisiting, because some people change their profiles every season and I love to check up on their updates. Some of them were mentioned in this article, some I've just discovered now, so thank you for writing this editorial.
I started working on my profile 3 or 4 years ago and I still haven't finished the first version of it - I really admire people who have it in them to change their profile every now and then. I'd love to message them: 'Hey, I love your profile, it's stunning', but I don't want to seem weird. Please, just know that your work on your profiles doesn't go unnoticed and is greatly appreciated :)

Yep, 2015 is new to me as well, since I started watching dramas at around 2005?BTW, I gotta admit, that 90's are…
Thank you so, so much for that comprehensive answer :) That's something I was looking forward to read. I wrote down everything and will give it a go when I have some free time. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with me, it's greatly appreciated :)

I'd love to read about dramas in the 90s, because I don't know much about them and I'd really want to discover something new :)
The only 90s dramas I've seen so far were from Japan and they always surprise me, because they don't feel outdated at all and their choice of topics is quite bold (at least the ones I've watched). While I was watching Korean TV shows The Last Match (1994) and Sandglass (1995) got mentioned a few times, so I'd love to learn more about them. But maybe that's just me and others see the 90s as an ancient era :D

You know what they say - release year is just a number :) By 2015 I was already well into dramas and I love to watch dramas from a wide spectrum of years. To be honest, 2015 still feels pretty new to me (lol). If we're travelling back in time take me somewhere far - like the 90s. Fingers crossed you'll write more articles like this!

In Homemade Love Story SoonJung keeps pressed flower petals in her dictionary and uses them to make wishes. It's a long drama, so you may use it to get Monsoon badge :)

"Overall, I'm glad that I discover dramas when they were a niche entertainment." I feel this way too. I'm unsure…
Oh, nice to know someone shares my sentiments :)
Now you go to Netflix, Viki or YouTube and you can legally watch a wide choice of dramas. You may even join the heated discussions in the comment section. Back than one could only watch on YouTube (illegally, so you had to be fast) or mysoju (eventually crunchyroll). You had to strive to watch dramas and search for information about them (before we got such a useful site like MDL). I agree, the drama community and the watching experience was different back then.

Hype is a double-edged sword. It's great that it helps popularise different shows (and dramas in general), but it also puts pressure on viewers to like or dislike certain things, which may be contradictory to what they actually feel. Korean culture seems to be very popular nowadays, especially among young people (I'm saying this from the perspective of my country). Most teenage girls listen to kpop and watch kdramas. I remember the hype surrounding Squid Game - almost everyone was watching it and discussing it (avoiding spoilers was a real challenge), even people who had no idea about South Korea. I find it fascinating, especially compared to the time when I started watching dramas. Overall, I'm glad that I discover dramas when they were a niche entertainment. Sure, I could discuss dramas only with my two besties, because everyone else thought we're weirdos, but that allowed me to cultivate my taste and form my own opinions without being influenced by others. It would be much harder today.
Love what you love, hate what you hate, be yourself and don't let others dictate you how to feel and what to think.

I had to watch this film, since it's a remake of my favourite Korean film. At the same time I was worried about my expectations, but I tried to watch this film without any bias.
I think it was an enjoyable film, although I'm not planning to rewatch it. The main plot stayed the same, some iconic moments were kept (hospital scene), some were not (chilli scene). I laughed a few times. I really liked the scene, where FL was having a conversation with the grandma at night. It was heartwarming and it was different from the original. In general, this version is cuter and feels slightly toned down.
After all, I can't help, but compare the two films. Korean actors are more expressive, so everything felt twice as funny to me, and the scenes were more dramatic. The Chinese film feels more like a romantic comedy, while the Korean one feels more like a comedy with a little bit of romance (if you know what I mean).
Maybe my reception would be better if I haven't seen the original, but, since I did, this remake felt like it was lacking something. Like without that humour the flavour was lost and the film feels a little bland. Sweet, but bland. However, if you saw the original and it was too over the top for you, you might like this version better. I prefer the Korean one.

Reading your article and watching "Like a Star" music video made me take a walk down memory lane.
I can't believe it's been fifteen years since I've seen "Devil Beside You" for the first time (my first Asian drama ever - that's how it all began). It will forever hold a special place in my heart. 😍
I adore Rainie and Mike in this drama - they have a wonderful chemistry. Both are among my favourites. I love Rainie's facial expressions - they're funny and cute at the same time.
Back then I also loved Qi Yue's pigtails. I wanted to wear the same hairstyle, but my mom said it's suited for a five-year-old and not a highschooler (no ke'ai for me).
Thanks to this drama I also got to know Rainie as a singer. "Ai Mei" was the first Mandarin song I learnt to sing.
I watched her 2005-2011 dramas, but thanks to this article I see I still have some watching to do. My PTW list is ever-growing. Thank you for sharing your impression about them. I just wish there was a little more about Rainie's films. I've seen only one so far and I'm really curious about the rest of them.
All in all, it's a great article with a beautiful layout. Thank you for the insight into Rainie's life and career. Thank you so much for this nostalgia journey!

Thank you for your explanation. Now I understand what they're trying to achieve, but I still find their "modus operandi" questionable :/

Why is everybody in Bbomb and Jin's business? Why?! I want to know what their hidden agenda is. They seem to help them get together, but at the same time they do everything to make them fall apart. I'm utterly confused, my head aches...

"I got into dramas because of a YouTube recommendation" - honestly, what would we do without YouTube? Seems it still does wonders for increasing the number of drama lovers.
Thank you for sharing your story. I love knowing how people got into my favourite fandom and what kind of dramas they enjoy watching :D

Idk...am I the only one who liked this episode? I mean at first I was like: uhm sit that is a cat but as I continued…
I find it so funny, because me and my friends - we kiss our cats a lot. The fact that he didn't kiss his cat even once was what was weird to me :D
