A review for myself or others who may read it,

This drama may gets boring at first but gets better and boring again from time to time and oh before you watch this drama i'd like to remind you that this drama is a push and pull slowburn with a wasted potential story. I think her relationship development with Bai Zhu along with her dilemma is realistic although i find the ending (Ep 40) seems to be rushed and abruptly done. We could've at least see the development between the two of them since they drag the story but abruptly rush the ending. It'd be less draggy if they remove Tang Hua's unnecessary story that didn't get anywhere and adds nothing to the plot.

i'd like to pin one or a two points :

1. This drama isn't like any other Medical Series (or at least the ones that i've watched before) where they focuses on showing the detailed process of how surgery/operation is like so don't expect to see them.

2. Bai Zhu (Male Lead) is a self-absorbed, arrogant & perfectionist person which makes his behaviour and character frustrating and annoying most of the time but he gets a lil character development after the never ending arguments & debate with Xiao Yan (Female Lead).

Overall this drama could've done so much better especially the potential i feel they could explore with, It could've been LESS draggy. What a wasted actors & story potential

I actually wrote this for myself as a reminder so if anyone come across this, Pardon me for my messy writing

Enjoyable + Tang Yan is back <3

I think they drag the story a bit but at the same time there's something that is lacking, as if they cut so much to pack the drama into 36 episodes. However, it's still a pretty good series. It hooks you once you go through the episodes. It's decent and enjoyable. Both Tang Yan & Liu Xueyi delivered their performances well, they're doomed from the start and i knew it very well but it still sting when you watch them. At the end, they leave you a bittersweet feeling (':

As for the second leads, I couldn't get into them at the end. They had potential and they were interesting at first but then it just dies out. Also I wish they actually show the elders (Gods of Thunder division) point of view when they realized Hannu was abusing her power as a goddess and her colliding with the demon lord. I feel like they're being cutted out. It would've been better if they show them so it doesnt become somekind of a plothole.

Most importantly, Mother Tang Yan is back to Xianxia after a long time and look how pretty she is in hanfu 🥹 I'd love to see Tang Yan starred in a dark historical/Wuxia/Xianxia/Xuanhuan movie or series. Hopefully we get to see her more in these genres in the future.

I'mma fight anyone saying Tang Yan is too old for this drama, TF are you on? what does her age have anything to do with the series? Sick of these kind of people, if you don't like it don't watch it. Go watch your younger fav actor/actresses if you want "young face" instead of going in the comments saying she's too old and she should've played as a mother instead 🙄

A sweet refreshing silly middle age romance <3

First of all, i'd like to thank whoever put Zhuzhu and Wallace Huo together in this drama cause they absolutely nail their roles and they got a good chemistry together. I can't believe i get to see them in one of my fav trope which is mature middle age romance hahaha these two made me giggle and smile like a fool the entire time i was watching this series and it's sad to say goodbye to our silly and adorable couple... 16 episodes is too short for this drama. Can we please get a second season for this drama? I'd love to see Yejia & Yuyuin their married era ):

Surprisingly not so bad

This one is actually one of a short drama where the cinematography, acting and costumes doesn't look like those obvious cheap short dramas.

I was trying to kill some time but the first episode hooked me into the drama cause it's actually interesting and i like this kind of plot. It's actually decent although there are things they could've execute way better and how the plot gets kinda jumbled and rushed at the same time. It is flawed but it's still a decent short drama to watch with only 22 episodes with a duration of 16 to 20 mins per episode.

Quite underwhelming but still enjoyable for me

I had expectations with this one but honestly speaking its quite underwhelming. I pretty much still enjoy watching this although i'm not satisfied especially with the ending... When will these writers stop pulling such a dramatic move which is to give a sad ending? Especially the ending for Gu Niang & Gu Shao, There are better ways to give a "sad ending" for these two instead of making him (Gu Shao) leaving her (Gu Niang) waiting just for her to die because of a plague before they even get together. Don't get me wrong, i'm a sucker for sad endings BUT the good well written sad ending. Not an abrupt sad ending.

— Positive :
Like i said before, i pretty much enjoy watching this. I like everyone's portrayal of their characters. They all did their part well. I like their familyhood and friendships here as well. Idk what to say about Commander Luo except that he has been on my nerves. the amount of time i automatically said "Stay away from her" everytime he's near a woman is crazy.

I'd like to thank whoever cast Xin Zhi Lei & Gao Weiguang together cause they're such badass duo who shares a pretty good chemistry in the serie. The romance isn't the main genre here but that's exactly why i love it. The build up between them is just right (lowkey wants more of them though).

Gu Niang being a fierce & hot tempered lady while Gu Shao being the Cool headed man who eventually "tamed" Gu Niang (tame isn't exactly the proper word but you'll know what i mean haha) From the bickering and the little fights to her slowly being submissive to him is my kind of trope hahaha it's when that one strong headed character found their other half who can make them behave themselves and learn to listen and brings the soft side of them and even made them change for the better <3

— Negative :
Wtf was that ending?? My jaw dropped when i watched the last couple of minutes of the last episode... Poor girl waited for him just to die 3 months after he left on an adventure to find the thing he's been looking for his whole life. What's worse is that they didn't even get to marry each other and they didn't get to have a beautiful little family together. I wish he take her out from there and settle down somewhere after getting married then he can take her on his adventure after she recovered after all she's a good helpful partner to go with instead of leaving her waiting but oh well, guess the writer had something different in mind. Hu Bayi and Shirley Yang did it so why can't these two do it too?? I'm still in denial over the the narration at the end of the last episode (':

Wang Ziwen, the actress you are (':

I fear i'd go insane if i were Qu Tong... Poor woman went through hell and for what? (':
This is such a good, underrated chinese series that i hope will get the recognition it deserve. People need to stop sleeping on Wang Ziwen. She's such underrated actress, this over here is what you call a great actress. She never disappoint! Luo Jin also did his role so well, they all really nail their respective roles. This is definitely one of the best chinese series in 2025. I hope we'll get to see more good film projects for Wang Ziwen in the future <3
