I enjoyed the original HZGG as well! There were many great dramas by China back in the days, while I was still watching TVB dramas, I just didn't like their dramas and pool of artist anymore.

Yes, I like his earlier adaptation, Smiling in the Wind, Condor heroes with LiYapeng and Zhou Xun, the theme songs are so epic! Funny I like his Returned of the condor hero, i just didn't like Huang Xiao Ming in the younger period of Yang Guo, he was just to old looking. His Tian Long Ba Bu 2003 was my fav version! His HSDS was not the best, but there was some good parts lol. Later on his other work was meh haha

Hah Dating in the Kitchen is one of the few modern dramas that I've liked. Shen Ge is so funny there. Although there is a big age gap, Zhao Lu Si and Shen Ge have amazing chemistry. One of my fav Chinese CP, and probably one of the best kissing scenes from C-dramas.

Hah , even though it was commercial success, didn't really llike the series, it was too long and silly. Basically the mother wanted him to be with everyone but the person he loved lol.

in the earlier 2000 I really enjoy mainland JY novel's , the ones done by Zhang Jizhong . Honestly didn't like the 1998 version, it seems so draggy.

Wallace Chung has been taking on different roles as @lenje mentioned below- Three was one of my fav movies of his, he brought an outstanding performance. He also played Xiao Feng (another Jin Yong novel adaptation), even though i dislike that adaptation, it was still nowhere close to lover boy. I really enjoy his Chu Bie Jie in "General & I", I really enjoy his chemistry with Aneglababy. His last two dramas, Sword and Brocade as well as Because of love, were both commercial hits, they generated billions of views, outshining the other popular idol. Why should actors, especially older ones only limit themselves to these serious/more mature roles? In life we get lover boy of all ages, it depends on the target audience. An auntie like me still enjoys watching WC as a "lover boy". LOL. Peter Ho has been doing supporting roles, not sure if he gets to"pick" what he wants anymore.

He use to be lead back in the early 2000, not many actor from the early 2000 are popular , I think.... Wallace Chung is one who actually have star power from that era , that is leading in dramas now.
