I usually never watch chinese dramas. But I saw someone talking about it so I decided to give it a try. And omg…
Two light-hearted dramas with small amounts of angst to rec : Love between tiger and rose (same ML actor, transmigration, funny and cute), I've Fallen for You (same FL actress, adorable romcom). Both of these dramas got me into chinese idol costume dramas and these actors! :)
i just finished episode 5 and i was really liking it during episode 1-3ish but now it kinda is going mehh, is…
it gets really good between ep 9-11 and then stays pretty good. it gets more exciting again toward the end imo :) definitely worth keeping watching, maybe just skip past/fast forward some of the bits you find meh
I don't think I stopped crying during the last 3 episodes. Such a beautiful and tragic love story. God it was worth it though. Can't wait until Forever and Ever.
Is this a good drama? Saw it had mystery and romance in its genre tags so planning of giving it a try...
It's really good! Definitely give it a try if you enjoy flirting romance and undercover/suspense genre. It does go a bit deeper than that but don't want to spoil anything :)
I'm only at ep 13 but so far, there's barely anything that could count as romance. It's largely social commentary…
Completely agree with you! It was made quite clear at the beginning of the drama that she wasn't going to be easily pressured into a marriage of convenience/ what society expects of her - the drama made it quite clear we didn't need to worry about the rich boss ploy lol.
I've seen comments that suggest the romance is more of a side plot to the overall social commentary. But what…
The SML likes the FL and tries to woo her, she only sees him as a boss and tells him clearly when he confesses that she's not interested, at which point the love triangle ends (at least where I'm up to in the 20s) So there isn't much of a love 'triangle ' - more just her boss wanting to be with her in quite a calculating way because she would fit in well in his life- and it's shut down about half-way through the drama. There is a little bit of stereotypical jealously from the ML, but nothing annoying.
I'd say if you're turned off by love triangles - don't worry. As the previous commenters have mentioned, it's mainly a work/slice of life/social commentary drama with hints of romance weaved in throughout. I actually would've been equally happy if the leads didn't get together - that's how good their working relationship is lol.
What I love about this show is that I respect and admire Ruoxin. She sticks to her principles and her values and knows what she wants from life - and tries to be wholeheartedly herself. A lot of dramas show you the mould of an 'independent women'. What's different with this drama is that Ruoxin actually is one. And she's inspiring. SO glad I decided to pick this one up!
I'm on ep 8 of this drama and having a hard time being excited to watch each week. I love the ML, FL and I like the 2nd story and loved the first few eps... but not vibing with a lot of things about this drama (feeling the same as many previous comments..). but i'm still rooting for it lol
Can anyone who's watched up to ep 12 tell me if it's worthwhile continuing on? i don't want to keep watching purely bcos cos i love the ost haha
i think we have to suspend our disbelief and just enjoy the cute moments cos let's be real irl you'd figure it out straight away.. they have the same voice and the mask doesn't do that good a job of covering his face haha. i'd say keep going if you think the main pairing are cute, but the plot does get a big draggy later on :)
