As an American, and I by NO means speak for all of us, just don’t. Like actually. Korea was doing just fine without garnering my country’s approval and a success like Squid Game is proof. The whole WORLD was watching, not just us. It wasn’t good because we said it was, it was good because talented, dedicated people, who simply wanted to share their passion with the world did just that. Do this production a favor and leave it alone. I won’t be so ignorant as to say Americans are the sole reason this is happening but you can’t deny some level of our obnoxious, and frankly overrated, influence came into play here. And tbh that really gets on my nerves. So unless the original mind behind SG says he was always planning on a second season from the beginning, the extra money grab is hardly worth it. The western publicity sector has tried to gentrify the show enough. Don’t taint the its glory by further fanning their flames of arrogance. Sure people will whine, but ignore them. They’ll get over it.
I totally agree that this episode felt a little bit rushed in terms of general plot development as there were some pints they definitely could have sat on a little longer: - White’s return home/ seeing him wondering and adjusting to the house nonverbally - a doctor explaining the extent of Black’s injuries/ if Black will recover how long that’ll take - actually seeing white go from place to place changing his appearance (having it all in one scene made it hard to tell if he was just imagining the process or actually doing it in real time) I feel like this episode really could have ended at the phone call about Black being hospitalized in addition to going deeper into what happened prior. To me that would have been enough to really have a solid foundation with little room for uncertainty. Watching it was almost like seeing two episodes of plot in one, and really bad dramas usually have the opposite problem so I think we’re safe lol
but over all it was REALLY GOOD and I still expect great things!!
My advice for watching this show is to just think of it like watching a play that was recorded. It helped see past the acting and relatively poor production. Not that plays are like that, even the low budget ones come out better than this lol. I just think format wise, a stage definitely would have been better suited for this show. Especially given the guy who plays Akagi’s acting style. It’s less of a person and more of a caricature in a sense. Definitely not for film unless the whole show was one overextended gag.
HOLY BALLS THAT WAS SOME OF THE BEST CHEMISTRY IVE EVER SEEN!! like this Nanon’s FIRST BL?!!! LET. THAT. SINK. IN. PEOPLE! what is he so perfect for?? how?? I mean good GOD does quality acting make a difference. I’m not British but he and ohm BLOODY SMASHED IT! those casting directors knew EXACTLY what they were doing putting two sticks of live dynamite on the screen. like, “if we’re showin’ up? we’re showin’ OUT!” I need to take minute to recover from charisma exposure😮💨 I MEAN MOTHER OF PEARL—
I feel like the main difference between the two (for me) was AIB never once felt like real life, SG made it seem like it could legit happen to anyone.
In Alice in Borderland: + the characters and their world felt like a dystopian fantasy that was completely out of reach. + the games’ end goal kept changing. + games forced them to immediately utilize a more mature skillset and cognitive abilities that would inevitably vary by lifestyle (like the chick who was good at climbing).
In Squid Game: + the characters seemed extremely human and naturally imperfect. + the games’ end goal remained objective: money. + games forced them to recall skills from when they were innocent young children with much smaller priorities + despite already being dirt poor, the fact that these were all childhood games humbled them even further, making them all equal
It’s all about which of these things you enjoyed more: survival based on innovating schematic knowledge vs straight up survival of the fittest. The Dalgona game (SG) and the Sheep and Wolf Game (AIB) are the some examples of this.
don’t get me wrong I think the show is GREAT so far, but Pat’s friends are such *ssholes??! Like okay scuffle every now again whatever. Idgaf about the Freshy performance so who cares if they get kicked out?. They’re all dumb college kids fueled by animosity older than they are, and were warned about their behavior more times than they deserve. What’d you expect? But um, bullying a service worker??? Beating on someone’s door only to find out “it’s a guy” and only THEN thinking it was inappropriate?? THAT is where I draw the line. Ik both groups fought, but invading someone’s privacy and harassing someone at their place of work and seeing no real consequences makes me borderline despise them. They’re gonna need a STEEP redemption ark. In summary: Korn is a public menace. The parents are toxic, juvenile, egotistical idiots. But again OVERALL not a bad show at all.
I’m glad the victim got to say her piece, and that an ‘apology’ was made. But what sticks with me in these kind of controversies is that some people STILL get genuinely shocked when things like this turn out to be true? It’s one thing to be surprised, but the peak devastation? Like…we do not know these people. At all. We never did. Think about it, there isn’t a single thing his super-fans know that we couldn’t just google on our own time. Of course I hate that it happened and 1000% wish it didn’t but the truth is we only know what they CHOOSE to show us. And that hasn’t changed. Like someone else said, I expect nothing of idols, actors, etc. because: A) I’ve never met them as people, who am I to EXPECT anything B) their personal life is objectively none of my business I mean, obviously I’m here in the comments of an article concerning him that I chose to read on my own accord, so the curiosity was there. But in my opinion that’s all it should be: curiosity. What they do with their lives is their problem. If they want to screw it up and forget actions have consequences? let them. they’re adults. It’ll bite them in the booty cheek just like it did today.
I can not say this enough, whatever platform you watch this show on: WATCH IT ON AT LEAST 1.25X SPEED!!! It’s pretty obvious that the production team had a huge chunk of time to fill, which isn’t a problem until you realize they clearly don’t know WHAT to fill it with . It’s to the point where I’ve skipped around several minutes and missed absolutely nothing because they were still on same sentence. This whole series could have easily been 5-6 INTERESTING episodes if not for that.
****Note to the production staff: simply talking and moving slowly does not help anyone! It even takes away from the actors’ performance and performance quality by making scenes/ character interactions distractingly awkward and unnatural. Everyone’s effort, no matter how good, just goes to complete waste in my opinion. I don’t know how the business end of this industry works. But unless you’re on a super tight budget and got some kind of bargain deal, don’t take on a 50 minute time slot if you only have 20 minutes of actual storyline.
I loved the show but main character (I’m bad with names sorry lol) was a peace of sh*t father from beginning to end. Like this one girl said on my IG feed: “he’ll do everything BUT raise his own daughter & take care of his family. He was better to Sae-beok (her name I DO remember) & that old man”. At first I thought he still had a noble bone in his body, but by the end I’d seen chicken tenders with a more honorable spirit. When he made the phone call in the terminal I literally said “what the f*ck is wrong with you—.” The man has got the priority skills of spilled milk!! But again, I LOVED the show aside from that!
ngl the first time I watched the Vegas x Pete teaser I was a bit iffy about their strength in acting. I almost started laughing because I just couldn’t pick up on the energy they were trying to bring (an extremely difficult one might I add) or take it seriously so I was a bit worried. But I went to watch all the other videos on the channel and it /kinda/ helped so if you felt the same I way I recommend trying it. I’m still waiting for it to air (only god knows when lol) to have a final opinion tho so we’ll see.
idk about you guys but if this show doesn’t SHOW UP and SHOW OUT like these trailers make it seem, I’m ✨rioting✨☺️. Pitch forks and all🔥💢💢. On the actors’ behalf as well, cause at this point, it’s ALL in the new production company’s hands.
Why.. is it coming soon? I've been waiting for so long already..
no, lol. sorry for the confusion🥲. I was saying we should set up camp because it’ll be a hot minute before it comes out. I heard they just started filming last week😭
quite a few continuity issues, and the acting could be better (I think the writing and directing teams really weren’t that great) but definitely still entertaining and worth the watch if you don’t mind them. still recommend tbh.
I’m going to finish it for the sake of having a fully educated opinion and the fact that I actually still like the show as a whole, but I think they’re dragging the story line with the ex bf WAY longer than necessary. Which sucks because it like totally ruined the flow of things. Now everything and nothing makes sense.

In my opinion, there was no way that Tir should have died, like at all. There were literally 4 firefighters in the room and 4 civilians (Tir, Masuk, the kid, & the mother). It would've worked out just fine if he'd escaped with Masuk. And had one of the firefighters holding Masuk back had gone after Tir, or one of the firefighters helping the mother who was able-bodied and the kid, he could have easily been saved. But they practically ditched him?????
