A Quirky Tale That Missed the Mark
I started watching Beautiful Gong Shim for Namgoong Min, expecting a heartfelt love story, but it turned out to be more than that. While I appreciated the portrayal of the female lead as a goofy, flawed character—especially highlighting her struggles with hair loss, wearing a wig and struggling with her self-worth—alongside an equally quirky male lead, the drama didn’t really resonate with me.
I also didn’t enjoy the fact that the male lead always expects the female lead to do things for him. It doesn’t really feel like he loves her—more like he needs her. The second leads, too, didn’t evoke any real emotion, making the story feel bland overall. The story just drags on making it difficult to continue the drama. That said, if a goofy male and female lead dynamic is something you enjoy, or if you're a fan of Namgoong Min, you can give it a go! But you can skip it if you feel goofy leads aren't your thing.
