I am a late teenager to early twenties girl would I enjoy this drama? I've seen lots of post saying only people over 25+ would really enjoy it because of some of the situations the characters are in and how people younger wouldn't enjoy them. Just wondering what people think?
Another fantastic article Shiro! Loved what you said here! I think we can definitely all agree that your articles are brilliant conversation starters! :)
To be compleatly honest most of these do have potentially problematic points if you dig in to it, however I wnated…
Totally agree! I feel like what you said about focusing on the positives and the drama as a whole is pretty much something you have to do for most dramas. Unfortunately, lots of them have problematic aspects even if it doesn't appear like that face on. I feel like in a lot of cases people have to choose if they feel that the god outweighs the bad and go from there.
I haven't been using MDL that long, so I'm still getting used to using it but I read your article of 50 shades of (lack of ) consent when it came out and I liked what you said in that one so when I saw this today I just had to check it out :)
Wow. Well done for addressing this topic Shiro! I guarantee it's something all drama lovers have thought about at some point. I love how you didn't address this topic from one single point of view and I like that you used examples from multiple dramas not just one or two (and that they weren't all old/new).
For me when I watch cross-dressing dramas I always worry that it's going to be done in a very problematic manner (either because its done in an immature way or in a way that will insult people etc). To be honest because of this worry I tend to edge away from cross-dressing dramas just because I don't really want to watch one if it becomes super problematic. But from the ones I have watched there have been some really good ones that handled the topic really well. For example, I though that The Tale of Nokdu (even though I didn't finish the drama because it kind of did a u-turn genre wise half-way through and that wasn't for me) just handled this topic amazingly and like you said I loved the way it kind of addressed gender stereotypes and portrayed the women who had been ostracised by society as so freaking powerful as they stood up for themselves by any means necessary. Also, I'm enjoying the way cross-dressing is a theme in The King's Affection - I think its being done really well (I think it helps that the reasons behind Lee Hwi cross dressing as her brother are pretty solid and don't leave much room for uncertainty). People should definitely check this drama out if they haven't already.
