You are spot on. Here they not only justify a criminally toxic mother but toxic villagers as well. However it is well acted but it made me very angry at times.
Excellent production and acting but the plot is infuriating. Such a horrible mother should have taken her child away,be thrown into jail and be sterilized to never have children again. The villagers are despicable human beings, it was disgusting to the extreme, it overshadowed the occasional moments when they showed some caring. Could not imagine that exists a worse place on this planet as the South Korea depicted here. Korea has a terrible history of oppression and despotism and it seems ingrained in society even to this day. This series made me shutter in disgust because of the awfulness of the people and judicial corruption and unfairness. But the series was well made with some comical and fun scenes, like the bumbling gangsters.

However a company that relies a great deal on good public relations for success should be allowed to implement measures if their code of conduct is breached - don't you think so? I am sure everyone knows that when they sign a contract with KBS as there will be clauses in the contract.
Because of this announcement watched the Japanese original and was disappointed. Subordinate wives to chauvinistic men throughout and not reporting serious of crimes. Why would they remake such flawed concept, surely there must be better original scripts out there.

Just started to watch this and what struck me is the sexism portrait as fun - the male subordinates barge into female bureau chiefs office anytime without knocking at the door even she complains about it and the subordinates completely ignore that. That would never be in a chinese drama series where the chief is male. Shame on chinas drama writers and producers.
Just finished watching after discarding it a few times as the main leads mother was so annoying and shrill, just terrible. The chemistry of main romance did not work at all, how could it when he was way more then double her age? A 17- 18 year old actress playing new intern ending up with the 40 year old boss, what terrible casting and script. 7
