Since being introduced to Asian dramas whether it be Kdrama, Cdrama, Jdrama and etc - Yang Yang has been my favorite,…
Me too! For the longest time I have been into Yang Yang and all my friends knows about it. Have watched most of Xu Kai's dramas cause I like his visuals and skills but ALP knocked me out and now I'm a proud Alaso! Love his visuals, his acting, and his personality :)
My Top 10: 1. Ancient Love Poetry (Not as famous as the rest but highly recommend!! It deserves more views and ratings <3) 2. Ashes of Love 3. Boss and Me 4. Arsenal Military Academy 5. Love 020 6. Falling into Your Smile 7. Put Your Head on My Shoulder 8. Romance of Tiger and Rose 9. My Sunshine 10. My Little Happiness
Really enjoyed this show! Xu Kai really carried the whole show and I have to admit that the FL did not do a good job... Not that she was horrible but still a rather disappointing performance as I found her doing a really good job in AMA. If you are looking for Ancient Love Poetry or Ashes of Love standard of show you wouldnt get it here but if you love Xu Kai or is looking to past time with some xianxia show, this is still worth a try! Storyline, characters etc. are all quite good!
Loving this show. Xu Kai's acting is so good and he is so handsome! All the side characters are written well too. Great character development, plot and script. Cheng Xiao is really pretty too! Just that she is still pretty new at acting, but still not bad!
I dropped L&R and loved AOL. For the beginning, I found AOL more interesting compared to L&R as it had a better script (as in the word puns and just overall tone and language of the characters), Furthermore, I liked the overall flow of the start of AOL in terms of character development, events, and different character introductions, it is more gradual and allows viewers to understand the development and emotions better. Loved the acting of all the characters too! ESP YANG ZI.
For L&R, I don't feel as invested for the beginning eps. I found the storyline for the romance going too fast and it just felt like ML was sacrificing everything for FL since the beginning without much romance development yet. Also, I found the acting of L&R FL to be relatively bad (or maybe the dubbing) but I felt nothing for her scenes till the point that I stopped watching. However, the only part that I really liked was when she transformed! That was cooool~ esp with the song HAHAH.
I can't compare the entire storyline as I stopped watching L&R after a few eps and it would be unfair. However, for the front eps, I found the acting and development for characters in AOL much better than L&R. I remember feeling so frustrated watching L&R with the characters, the romance, and all the misunderstandings... However, I would love to pick up L&R again with all the hype and hopefully it gets better!
I totally agree with your review! I have so many questions after watching... So many things were left unanswered in my opinion (or maybe the editing made it seem unanswered..)
The show is biting more than it can chew causing the drama to be all over the place, too much fillers until the end where it felt like they realised there is not many episodes left and squeezed everything into the remaining episodes. So many twists that it makes the show a little tiring to watch and made me skip quite a lot. Overall, it is not bad but I dont think it will get you very hooked into every episode. Still worth exploring though! Love the romance and if you want to watch this for Xu Kai like me, he looks beautiful in every angle here!
Great article!! I totally agree with the critique. For me, the beginning was amazing with the gaming scenes and both leads showing their forte in their different lives. However, I REALLY didn't like the SML. I don't understand how he is given so much power in the industry and how the FL's manager gave him a free pass to all the FL's information. I agree with the SFL critique of Shan Shan too. No development and no proper explanation of how she turned out this way (Only explained towards the end and it being a one-liner explanation?!). OMG. And the plane scene.. I thought that they did clichés quite well throughout the show until this plane scene with such crazy, dramatic emotions that just sucked me out of dramaland immediately.
Despite all these I really liked the show overall! (Though I have to admit it became really draggy towards the end). Every song chosen is so good that I found myself enjoying the opening and endings instead of skipping them like I usually do. The acting was superb and I love the roommates as well! Not the best made drama but still a great show to enjoy IMO!
The casting is great and everyone performed so well in their roles. Finally, a believable gender blending drama with the FL being both cool as a man and pretty as a woman. Really love the entire pace and development of the show! I usually avoid shows of this era as it is always really depressing and heavy with a lot of action and deaths.
Really appreciate how the show can be heart-warming, light-hearted, comedic yet showcase the grave issue of the era and the military spirit! And the clothing of this show is spectacular! Another reason why I don't really watch this era is that I never liked the outfits... But the outfits here are so beautiful and well-chosen I can't stop noticing each of them!
Not to mention all the bromance, friendship and the handsome men in the show! Really enjoyed how each character had a distinct personality. Furthermore Gu Yan Zhen and Shen Jun Shan are amazing. I can't help swaying between the two men too HAHAHA Jun Shan is so perfect sometimes SLS hits and suddenly Gu Yan Zhen does something and it's like 'Nope! Yan Zhen is the way to go!!' HAHAHA (Not to mention how handsome Xu Kai is!!)
Really enjoyed this drama! The storyline is unique and gets you hooked to watch the entire show. I felt like the plot flowed and I was really curious till the end about how everyone would turn out. Not an amazing show but it is still worth watching imo! I liked how the comic world is explained and no complains about the acting or the looks (HARU) of the actors! Everything lined up and makes sense in the end and if you are looking for a unique plot for a light, school romance drama, do give it a try!
Just rewatched this. This show is so perfect from the storyline, to the execution and the acting. Everything is just marvellous and there is totally no boring scenes! Every episode just hooks you even more into the Do Min Joon world and the ending is perfect. <3 Still a classic
The show started out to be really interesting that went downhill all the way. Had high expectations but it turned…
The leads were so irrational and childish. It felt like the writer didn't even know how to portray them as well. Thien is just childish and arrogant, and it can be great if there was character development but there were so little and only towards the end. Furthermore, Muey had so much potential. She started out looking weak but turned out to be smart and strong. However, the decisions she made didn't make sense, she kept going back and forth with wanting him and pushing him away without much explanation, and her change in attitudes throughout the show did not make much sense too.
This show is just... meh. I really enjoyed myself so much but slowly, I just can't wait to reach the end as it began to be so draggy, especially with the 1.5h long episodes.
The plot is overly dramatic with redundant twists and turns and dramatic music too. The directing and editing made the show even worse as it is so choppy and confuses the viewers. I do not even feel the chemistry with the main characters throughout the show. But the side characters were great though! Yada, the bros and everyone else did a great job.
In all, I felt like I wasted a lot of my time watching this and I'm just relieved I finished the drama. This show doesn't make you smile like an idiot watching, don't make you intrigued to know what is going to happen next, I just completed it to get closure for the drama. What did I even watch for so many hours...
The show started out to be really interesting that went downhill all the way. Had high expectations but it turned out to be a so-so drama that became really draggy. Would not recommend it even as a filler drama as it drags for way too long
Totally did not expect to enjoy the entire show so much! What a great show that was consistent from the start to end. Loving all the actors and their characters!
Wow I watched this just as a filler drama and to look at some handsome guys and pretty girls but this really exceeded my expectations! Honestly a great plot and script for a romcom that is light yet get you to want to watch more. And the acting is totally not bad at all!! Considering that is the first drama for most of the actors/idols, its actually quite amazing! SLS was quite bad but I have no idea is it because Xiao Zhan is so gorgeous to look at. And his acting was good too! Great chill, simple drama that brings you laughter and happiness :)
The show started out strong for a romcom then halfway through the show it became rather draggy. Would recommend if you are looking for a filler show to watch as it was still rather enjoyable! But don't have too high expectations.
If you don't like it, why force yourself? People have different tastes. I happen to love this drama. It is definitely…
Thank you! You're right. I really tried very hard to like it but I guess its really just not for me. I kept pushing myself cause I thought the side characters just had such personalities cause there will be character growth throughout and it will get better. But I guess not :(. Thanks for saying the pros and cons though!! Cause I have been constantly scrolling this section and everyone had such high praises like intelligent characters and the storyline I started to doubt if I was even watching the same drama. Great to see such a detailed explanation to know what I will get into if I continued to watch it!
