Idk should I give this another try? I've been seeing people say it's good but I genuinely had to pause from the…
I felt the same way after watching a couple of episodes. But then I started fast forwarding through most of those scenes, and things became better. Of course, it might mean that I didn't get to watch most of the plot, but after watching 10 episodes and reading most of the reviews of the rest, it doesn't feel like I missed much lol.
Why do asian writers like the trope of a FL without any backbone so much? She's insulted in every episode, kicked when she offers a helping hand, and treated like the gum scraped off their shoe by the ML. And she never snaps, she's forever forgiving and self-sacrificing. Acquiesces when she's being coerced, and mute whenever she's wrongly accused.
Then don't even get me started on the ML. It's like the writers think because he's rich and handsome, he can be the rudest jerk and the FL must accept and try to reform him simply because of that. It's a cliche, but not sure why writers (and audiences) still eat it up this late in the romance game.
Xiu Xiu was so ignorant this episode. She told to Toutou run away with Yinzi. If that was possible they would…
Tietou was never gonna be able to marry Yinzi. Yinzi's family will be forever be a burden to anyone she marries and Tietou is no way prepared to handle it. His mother hates her (and her family), and Tietou himself is one bad harvest away from starvation. Their love was doomed. Worse Tietou's a dreamer, who makes well meaning promises (see the Farmer's Association) that he can no way fulfill.
Sadly, Yinzi had very little options. Her parents are no help at all, and she doesn't feel she's able to leave them behind to go off to see if she can make money elsewhere. So her options for making money are only within their village, which makes things 10x harder as everyone but the landlords are equally poor.
im sure the show has differences to the book, but has someone read the book and able to spoil me what happened…
@mione Glad to see I'm not the only one feeling this way about xiu xiu and her husband's unnecessary meddling. Even from when Tietou become director of the Farmer's association, I've been mad about how much these two meddled and made other people's problems their own. It's not kindness, it's idiocy.
Watch how Tietou will blame xiu xiu (again! is this the third time) for his own problems.
When the writing allows the characters to be quieter, a bit more open and unsure, I'm intrigued. But too much time in spent setting up the ML as some kind of svengali with the FL his manic pixie dream girl/muse. There's a lot of pathos to be mined here, but atm I'm not sure I can trust the writers to step away from the kdrama cliches to get there. Will give it another week (episode 3 and 4) before I decide.
Its ironic that the labor lawyer is himself working in a hostile (unfair contract, lack of proper training, bullying boss, emotionally stressful) environment
Seriously like why are they so hard on the junior nurse?
Unfortunately, from family members and friends who work in medecine in North America. This happens ALL the time . Nursing even has a reputation for eating its young.
This FL was pretty heartless towards the ML's feelings....he was an innocent party but yet she treated him effectively…
Nah, she needed to be that way. The ML wasn't able to stand up to this father - when they were young nor later when they got reunited.
The FL's priority was dealing with her own shit (her dad's death, debtors hounding her, her sick son), and like we saw, needed to be pretty tough to have any chance of handling any of those issues. Him wanting to be with her isn't a big enough selling point regardless of how the writers tried to sell it.
Imagine saving someone’s life and they repay you by ruining yours 😭 bring back the violence 🙂↕️
yep, no good deeds go un-repaid. The SFL is about to ruin everything. The FL also needs to burn her family down to the ground. That younger brother is utter trash.
Lol. Commenters of this drama are all like the friend group who at first sympathized, then offered good advice, and now are just sick and tired of the same up/down in their relationship
OMG!!! Is anyone else just exhausted? I feel like we are on this merry-go-round that just keeps going round and…
Man, I feel the same way! I'm enjoying the drama, but I feel exhausted before I even hit play. The latest episode had some character growth, but it was also hampered by the majority of the time spent once again on some bullshit back-and-forth.
I don't know how the characters themselves don't feel the same exhaustion. If there was any hope for additional character growth in either of them, it would have made sense for one of them to realize how exhausting their push-pull dynamic is. But it's like after every fight, they forget what happened before. Or perhaps that's just toxic relationships?
Yeon Seo's mother is absolutely....ugh! She's like a toddler constantly throwing tantrums, then you add on her hypocrisy, narrow-mindedness and its any wonder why Kang Hee would even contemplate dating Yeon Seo.
Also Yeon Seo is 50% of the issue with the back and forth relationship with Kang Hee. He's such a nice guy that he's passive enough to go along with the fake gf - even when his mom escalates it the point that the townspeople are considering them already engaged. He's such a "nice guy" that he's doesn't raise hell when his mother disrespects Kang Hee for crimes she never committed (and her mother as well). He's such a nice guy that he goes along with everyone thinking that Kang Hee abandoned him when the plan was for them to go together but he bailed on her because of his grandfather.
I wish the writing in this was better. The main romantic relationships have legitimate obstacles that could have been fleshed out, instead of the juvenile back-and-forth that they've written so far.
this really is a weird show lol. i don't know what to feel about it but i can't stop looking at it, with increasing…
I also caught a whiff of the pro-life angle the show seems to be advocating. But like you said, the tone of the show makes it hard to understand if the writers thought deeply enough of their subject matter or were just writing with a heroic treatment for the ML. They should have just left it out, so far I have no confidence in the writers tackling such a heavy topic with enough nuance or even logic (see the ectopic pregnancy plot-point).
Asking a favor: can you spoil me for ep 6? I don't want to keep watching but I'm curious about what happened.
Kang Gang Su successfully fertilizes some of the eggs. He gets caught by Eve. He lies to Eve that the eggs were from an anonymous donor and the sperm stolen from one of the crewmates. Eve reports this to Mission Control on earth. Mission Control fires Kang Gang Su. As part of the protocol to avoid bringing possible contagions back to earth, Eve trashes the fertilized eggs. Gong Ryong calls her a murderer.
Then don't even get me started on the ML. It's like the writers think because he's rich and handsome, he can be the rudest jerk and the FL must accept and try to reform him simply because of that. It's a cliche, but not sure why writers (and audiences) still eat it up this late in the romance game.
