i clicked on a trailer of this on yt and it looks good but when i saw the ml i literally had an aneurysm bc he looks like the super shitty meme edit of got7 jinyoung that like the japanese staff did where he doesnt even look like himself LMFAO does anyone know what im talking about i literally am DYING

LOL fl's clothes bothered me too, but i was watching one of their interviews and it seems like the reason why she is dressed like that is bc fl and ml only differ by one year irl (yang zi is 26, and li xian is 27) but they differ by 10 years in the drama, so stylists had to really work hard on making her look young.

i just saw your comment above asking if it's comparable to go go squid. i would say that go go squid is a lot more fluffy... like there's basically no antagonist in this drama and nothing bad really happens to any of the characters. gank your heart def has a really annoying antagonist ngl LOL so i definitely cried a lot more watching it LOLOL but i think that the romance/relationship develops much better in gank your heart. i feel like in go go squid, i felt like the relationship of the main leads didn't really develop that much, like i felt like they didn't even know each other that well. i think gank your heart, in that way, is much more realistic because it shows a lot more depth. but they're both set in the computer/gaming world, so there are a lot of similarities too!

tbh the first few episodes of gank your heart were hard to get through for me too bc the misunderstandings between the two leads was just so annoying to watch.. but that gets better after a few ep and imo it was worth it to watch the whole series! would recommend that you try getting through the first few ep if you're ever interested in watching it again!

i really REALLY enjoyed both, i would say they're both my fav dramas! i watched le coup first and then gank your heart a few weeks after. i would say that you should watch both LOL but whichever one you want to watch first depends on what you're looking for. i don't think gank your heart is done being subbed (?) so if you don't understand chinese i would watch le coup first! i watched it when it wasn't subbed and i couldn't understand most of the gaming terminology but everything else was fine.
if that's not a factor, gank your heart is based in the gaming world, and both leads are working towards being at the top of that world. it's nice bc they are somewhat working toward a common goal, and supporting each other along the way. i also like both main leads, especially yibo, and started getting into his stuff after watching. there is one thing about the romance storyline that i didn't really like, which i can tell you in another comment if you're interested bc it's kind of a spoiler.
le coup de foudre is really cute too. it's based on the real love story of the author, so everything just seems more real and relatable. it is more slice of life, so if you like those ~school life, follows you from child to adulthood~ dramas you would like this one a lot. the drama is basically set up in flashbacks, so you know that the ending is happy LOL bc it's literally the two leads recounting their lives. the relationship between fl and her twin brother is really endearing too.

would recommend gank your heart if you haven't watched that yet! premise kind of similar - ML is trying to win a world championship but for something like league as opposed to this CTF cybersecurity competition.

i binged it while I was in China a month ago and it was too hot to go outside LOL. i remember it being slightly draggy in the middle and had to skip through some parts, so i feel you! i felt like it was worth it in the end tho so hopefully you can push through!!

I definitely see where you're coming from!! You're right that it's obvious that they like each other, but I'm still kinda of annoyed that they had to hold onto that conflict until literally the last few minutes of the last episode... as much as I loved the series I wish that we got more content post-resolution, and even a resolution to begin with. They just.... hugged?????? LOL i'm sure we're supposed to assume that they talked it out on their own time.. but still was a bit disappointing imo.

ok i slightly disagree with misunderstandings being cleared up by ep 11 just because like... (VAGUE SPOILER) theres a huge misunderstanding between main leads after that which almost ruined it for me. but despite that I would definitely still recommend watching this, it's become one of my favorites and i am about to rewatch it LOL but just wanted to give you a heads up that misunderstandings will still happen!
