totally agree, people often criticize actors who dont raise their eyebrows to heaven or drop their jaws to hell, but if you can feel the emotions the character feels, it's a product of an actor's hard work

another example is how "the knockout" is rated 8.1 on MDL even though it became iQiyi's hottest show in history, dramas with less focus on romance but more on slice-of-life/modern society problems don't do well on here regardless of their quality 😭

im saving up episodes rn and i just saw a clip where xingchi bought tickets to invite huazi even amidst financial difficulty but turns out she already went with wanghe 😭😭😭😭havent watched anything beyond ep18 but it still makes me so sad, will let it marinate a bit more

he's supposed to get development later on, his character basically starts out as a "hot-blooded youth" who learns through business failures how to treat people better in adult arc (in youth he can't show care well)
