yu zheng (from huanyu entertainment) likes to "milk" popularity for his lesser known actors by pairing them with the more popular actors. wang xing yue became well known after pairing with bai lu in one and only and wu jin yan in the double, both these actresses are under yu zheng as well. zhao qin is considered a newer actress under yuzheng who hasnt had a "big break" yet, so he's putting her in dramas with his popular members

seeing flower street flourishing with people is so heartwarming 😭😭😭boat marriage in the first ep to boat marriage in the final ep, they went northward but flew back home anyways, i will never find another drama as perfect

omg i was on ep37 and was like yayyy three more eps, then i checked and ONLY 38 🥲🥲🥲🥲i could rewatch ep38 a thousand times, it feels as rejuvenating as bathing in holy water

omg my double eyelids turned into monolids from the crying eye puffiness, after episode 30 it's pain after pain and you don't get a break from crying 🥲

totally agree, people often criticize actors who dont raise their eyebrows to heaven or drop their jaws to hell, but if you can feel the emotions the character feels, it's a product of an actor's hard work

idc what anyone says, this was one of my first kdramas and i come back to rewatch so often. it's silly but doesn't lack a solid plotline, love <3333

another example is how "the knockout" is rated 8.1 on MDL even though it became iQiyi's hottest show in history, dramas with less focus on romance but more on slice-of-life/modern society problems don't do well on here regardless of their quality 😭

im saving up episodes rn and i just saw a clip where xingchi bought tickets to invite huazi even amidst financial difficulty but turns out she already went with wanghe 😭😭😭😭havent watched anything beyond ep18 but it still makes me so sad, will let it marinate a bit more

he's supposed to get development later on, his character basically starts out as a "hot-blooded youth" who learns through business failures how to treat people better in adult arc (in youth he can't show care well)

it seems that all non-idol dramas (not marketing as thirst trap/romance-centered) get a bad rep on mdl, I would argue I enjoy this more than MM but the 8.2 rating is 🫠

ik development arcs are incoming but i pity haikuo a lot, having to mature beyond his parents' levels in high school

it's hard for me to like haikuo's mom atm 🫠 the dad runs a restaurant and raises a kid while she chases her dream because he agrees to it, she feels wronged when he doesn't seize the opportunity to go to beijing even at the cost of their son's studies and the dad's old restaurant. it's understandable if they have different ideals, but I can't stand her belittling the canal even after he clearly said "nah im staying here"
