i feel like second season is too harem-focused, is it? ive looked at trailers and snippets to see whether it was worth watching, but i dont see any scenes that tell me about the main plot beyond harem fighting. is there more to it?

5 years and ive still yet to find a drama with the same vibe that satisfies me :( it's not just the republican era setting, it's the fact that the lead's chemistry don't bore you after 48 episodes, the fact that each rewatch keeps me entertained. i love it when they don't dumb down the FL's character just to make the ML appear smart

love triangle not really, both leads are open and avoid miscommunication, already have feelings first episode. parents of male lead disapprove only in beginning, all of his relatives ship them

this is officially my 7th rewatch … i still can’t get over it lol

ik one and only is the angsty one, and it's been three years since this drama's release, but with each rewatch i still find it unfathomable that its an 8.4. maybe it's cause i loved one and only so much and couldn't forget it, but the "sequel" was like everything for me. all the voids were filled, the parallels were INSANE (her having acrophobia, fear of heights after what happened in the first drama or the beautiful bones quote) like i will always watch these two dramas together, it's probably been at least 7 total rewatches

male lead zhou sheng chen is the brother of the king who died first episode, making him the uncle of the little boy (liu hui) who ascended the throne. the cousin of liu hui is the second male lead, li zi xing. grand tutor cui has a court position therefore making the cui family noble but not actually royal. i dont remember if there were any other important figures sorry

I haven’t watched this drama yet but rating fluctuations happen a lot near the beginning (legend of shenli was once 7.9 but now 8.8, kunning palace was once 8.2 but now 8.8)
