Boom! This drama got my attention on 2nd episode. The complication of it all with each character having their own desperate and selfish intentions. To give up, to hang on, to rise again, to regain position, to be successful, to be rich .... all who seek to get their life back through various means. Makes for good drama and entertainment. Potentially strong build up in story and character. I will definitely be watching.... and yes, one can see romance blooming too , hence the title My Lovely Boxer.
This was brilliant! I know China doesn't like to talk about LGBTQ things so the undercurrent was so poignant they…
You are right. Super brilliant and super observant. I initially thought that he was not ready to love her. But, after all the brilliant findings in this loop of conversation, I went back again to watch the ending. 1. Yes, the father said "he won't do anything to her". No wonder his friction with his son. 2. After he kissed her, he said " I wish I could love you back" But he couldn't, could he? The brilliance of it all. The director did a truly superb job.
And great discovery @Shiagi. Thank you for sharing.
Didn't Lee Da In shared "your understanding that we cannot give you detailed information about the specific schedule"....... and then the company went and shared this on the post, "April 7 at the Grand Intercontinental Seoul Parnas Hotel in Samseong-dong, Seoul. The wedding will be held privately together with their relatives and close acquaintances".....there goes their privacy🤦 ....be safe.
hmmm....I actually see her character as more of a victim of circumstances. Ep. 12, flashback, she relied on HJ…
Glad that you are full on this drama like me. Pretty sharp too. Did not realize that JJ/IH first kiss at Florence debut party. Did I miss anything in any of the episodes? you must let me know ya?
Hmmm.....My only point of reference was Ep. 12, IH's flashback. I could not particularly tell if it was JJ/IH first kiss and I could not tell if it was in celebration of Florence debut. My first thought was, maybe JJ was welcoming or celebrating the opening of his own company and so happy to have IH with him, looking happy together. Hence, sweet memories for IH.
In reference to your observation, You Are Right, IH already chose to be with JJ before leaving the company. It does appear that HJ's career lifted off when all 3 of them were in the same company. That was when HJ got busy and somewhat left everything in the air with IH. So, I suppose that is where the "gap" started, and JJ became the person she relied on, and eventually developing some kind of love for him.
It was all in the timing, she was vulnerable, and the lyrics to the song she sang, did mention about "asking someone not to leave her (which could apply to HJ or JJ) as she is only a child (during the academy years she would easily been17/18 years old) and she needed love and protection" .... something to that effect .... Hope, this may have solve the missing pieces to our timeline and "gap" theories? (hehehe)
Yes, I am also watching this drama on my own and I am so glad to have people to discuss with over the week before the next episodes airs. Only 4 more episodes to go, I cannot believe it, such an enjoyable drama.

Yes, unfortunately insecurity happens in many ways, not everybody is born with strong self-confidence. There are many people like JJ, who relies on others to make them feel secure. I suspect JJ's insecurity stems from his up-bringing. He has a tough and distanced father, whom you see in earlier part of Ep. 12, sent cronies to pressure JJ to make profit for the company. In Ep 5, JJ's brother (played by Sung Hoon) was also seen be-littling him, on behalf of their father for running an un-successful entertainment company. There is just no family love and encouragement. These scenes did somewhat gave me that indication. A child can carry such un-loved feeling with them as they grow into adulthood. This is why he clings on to the thought of being loved by IH and even from a friend in HJ.
JJ's mind is really 'cornered' at the moment, Unable to separate the trees from the forest. The business pressure, inability to grasp IH's love and also feeling that HJ let him down in business partnership all those years ago. All this has overwhelmed him. Even HJ said to JJ, that he is not the same person he knew those many years ago. Which means, JJ was not that bad a person, at one time.
I'd like to believe that everyone is not born bad, and more than often, we are shaped by people and circumstances around us. In our growing years, we are not able to always make the right choices, so we walk the path we have to walk. Like the saying goes, the growing and the learning never ends, until the day we leave this earth. My apologies, detoured a bit..... heavy stuff, got a bit carried away (hahaha).
So, I don't dislike JJ that much, though he acts out like Frankenstein at the moment. And, I can see that HJ, IH and even GY cares about JJ enough, to hopefully help him through this difficult phase and ultimately be the friends, that all of them were meant to be ..... BUT this is only in my head. Who knows what the writers have in store?? They may end up having me throw rotten tomatoes at JJ and IH in the end :0 .... This is why I keep watching in anticipation each week.
Again, I am really enjoying this drama .... especially the cuteness of HJ and GY !
hmmm....I actually see her character as more of a victim of circumstances. Ep. 12, flashback, she relied on HJ…
Her flashback in Ep. 12 whilst she was doing a song audition, does show that she had happy moments with JJ. It is hard to not have some form of love for a man whom she spent six (6) years with. Her sadness, the lyrics in the song was exactly telling us that. But, JJ's insecurity was suffocating her. She just had to break free.
hmmm....I actually see her character as more of a victim of circumstances. Ep. 12, flashback, she relied on HJ…
Wow, I am really impress that you are getting the messages coming from the characters. Apart from all the cuteness, this drama carries so many messages and notes of advise for viewers who had, or may be going through difficult journeys of their own. Your views is exactly how the writers pen the story. You have anchored well into the plot.
Now, to the question of why IH chose JJ. In many flashbacks and also referring to the conversation between HJ and GY on Ep. 11 (where HJ is showing her his 2nd floor room), it was revealed. HJ mentioned that he felt bad because he got caught up with his own sudden rise in his career. He chose to stay with his original talent company (as his boss then, had heavy burdens) and he also was overseas for a while with his own parents issue. Unfortunately, all happened at the same time and he just did not find the right opportunity to explain to IH. Everything was left in the air. This is why you can still see HJ feels guilty for abandoning and not being able to be there for her.
This time and gap, left a window for JJ to zoom in on IH as he already loved IH prior to HJ, though she never knew it. JJ rescued her at her most vulnerable time, which she accepted and settled into a relationship with him. During all these time, JJ who had successfully pursued IH, still felt that HJ still held IH's heart. He is just not confident if he can hold on to her.
He also harbored a lot of anger and resentment for HJ becos he turned down JJ's offer to join his talent company. In JJ's mind, HJ has abandoned him and also left him to pick up the pieces where IH is concerned. This is why you see HJ always holds back when JJ attacks or lash out to him. It is HJ's way of apologizing to JJ. Unfortunately for HJ, his decisions and actions in the past had "in-directly" hurt JJ and IH.
Hence, you can see JJ's immense madness (all kept in through the years, until he sees HJ again) all blow out.
To me, the core of these 3 friends relationship is the one that holds the drama together. Bringing so much angst and frustration to the viewers. Brilliant.
My key interest is to see how their relationship will turn out in the end. If all of them will be free of the past mistakes and demons and move forward to happy ending, or maybe not? And the icing on top of that cake, is always that cute, cliche, makes my heart jump for joy HJ and GY relationship .... (sigh), I look forward so much to the drama each week.
My apologies for a long reply. I did not feel one or two line sentence would have explained it properly. So....this is why IH chose JJ ..... the timing, the vulnerability, the intentions, all caught up in that one moment.
As seen in the starting episodes, Hoo Joon feels hurt and betrayal as his ex-In Hyung left him for his friend…
Yes! so get this couple's energy. Yes, that dress shoot scene, cute like anything, adjusting the blouse and wanting a blanket to cover her legs with such a short skirt. lmao too... this drama had me laughing in most episodes. So refreshing.
hmmm....I actually see her character as more of a victim of circumstances. Ep. 12, flashback, she relied on HJ…
As mentioned, she is still growing through her life experiences. She was and is clear of what she want but just do not know how to get there. She did stand firm on her decisions, hence experiencing all her un-bearable pain till she tried to kill herself. Now she is breaking free, she has left JJ's company and trying to make it on her own. So, I do find this IH character pretty real and interesting to watch. Like you said, let's hope for the best.
1. Yes, the father said "he won't do anything to her". No wonder his friction with his son.
2. After he kissed her, he said " I wish I could love you back"
