i think its mainly because of how the dialogue was adapted from the novel. in the novel, Luan Nian is much more of red flag. His speech and actions were worse than in the drama. They really toned it down to be more tasteful to the audience. However, they pretty much kept Shang ZhiTao's reactions perfectly, meaning in the drama, she overreacts or does silly/weird responses to Luan Nian's actions. SZT's actions are much more justified and reasonable in the novel, making her less of a red flag.
the hype IMO is so well deserved. ive watched around 40 or so 2026 chinese drama releases so far this year and i have to say... i keep rewatching POJ or a reason. its that good.

unfortunately, TRTS went downhill FOR ME and i dropped after the wedding ep. the first few episode were soooo good and the writing and storytelling was consistent and great allthroughout but the plot really changed and it wasnt for me anymore.

same universe (Nanwu). ML is the junior of TFF leads. ML's cousin is the boy who had a crush on Shang Zhi in high school. just off the top of my head im sure there will be more connections but definetly less than TFF's references to HL.
