I am watching this drama after watching "My roommate is a detective" and I am totally amazed by Hu Yi Tian's acting...in…
Eh, not to start a fanwar (I like Yang Zi, but I am not fanatic about any actor/actress) BUT Yang Zi is an amazing actress. Every character she plays feels extremely different. For example, her character in "Perfect Wedding" is pretty much the extreme opposite of her character in "Go Go Squid". Very few actors/actresses are able to make their roles feel distinct like that.
Loved the grandpa's part ... Even though he was rich he was not shown as evil rich grandpa wanting to separate…
Well the thing is, the FL's family is not exactly poor or lower class. They are clearly upper middle class at least, and the two families have a connection. Even the FL's mother was not worried about a class or wealth difference, just the age difference and the job.
I really liked the female lead in this, but really had a hard time differentiating who was more detestable, the male lead or the villain. You just wanted both to be jailed. The FL was expected to change, but the ML wasn't. Even at the end, the ML (along with the villains) tried to take agency away from the FL. It was a terrible end where all the villains get redeemed and their villainy excused, and the ML was selfish until the very last moment. The only likeable male characters in this show is the kids.
The original Overboard with Goldie Hawn & Kurt Russel did not really have this issue with the male lead. Sure the ML's actions in the original were problematic, but I think adding the 2FL in the Korean version, as part of a love triangle with the ML just highlighted how detestable the male lead was. When the male lead is using the female lead for his own personal gratification by making her believe they were in a relationship, then blatantly and openly chase after another woman in front of the woman you have tricked into thinking is your girlfriend, just magnifies the arseholishness of the ML.
I like the suspense portion of the drama. Although I think the characters "Kim Dong Ah" and "Manager Kim (Kang…
Everyone in this drama except the male lead was in a "supporting role", including the female lead. Because everything revolved around the male lead. The female lead was feisty when the ml needed someone to fight with, she was subservient and obedient when the male lead wanted a maid, she was weak and passive when the male lead needed someone to wipe his shoes on, and she was even easy and convenient to capture so the male lead can rescue "HIS" woman/bodygard. The last episode in particular made it clear she existed purely to feed the male leads needs.
I absolutely hated the last episode. I do not really say this as I love ending where the leads get together, but it would have been better for the female lead to die. She was already getting dumber, weaker, more passive, more subservient as the series went on. But the last episode made her pathetic.
I can see that this drama is produced to be very feel-good. Life-affirming and positive messages are inserted…
Japanese dramas often feel "artificial" in some way. I think part of it is that seem to be more concentrated on exploring a concept than telling a story. Now that does not mean they can be enjoyable. I actually enjoyed this. I found the characters and the concept sweet.
I really like this. I liked both leads and they were very cute together. YET, despite my liking for the FL, she started to get frustrating with how secretive she was. And it was a bit weird how the actress best friend was suddenly a waitress at the hotel.
I put this show off for a bit but decided to just finish what I’ve started. I couldn’t believe that I only…
The synopsis put me off trying this because I thought it was just another story about high school sweethearts. I liked the fact that in HS, she thought of him as an annoyance whilst he deliberately annoyed her because of his secret crush. I ended up thoroughly enjoying this.
If you like Xing Zhao Lin I recommend just watching the Eternal Love S1 & S2, and the You Are My Destiny. These…
I think that is because Liang Jie is a damn good actress who is good at playing off her leading men. She is one of those rare actors/actresses who can lift another actor/actress' performance.
Can you spoil it for me, how did it end? Was it a happy ending? Were they together at the end?
I do not really consider that a happy ending. "Get together in last 5 minutes" are just vaguely positive yet ultimately unsatisfying endings rather than "Happy" Endings. Especially after a time jump.
And this wasn't even in the last 5 minutes, it was in the last 30 seconds they get together.
This drama will get so much better from Ep 3 onwards so hold on. The main leads have great chemistry.
Yep. I love where we are at now in the show. The lead's current relationship makes you overlook the awkwardness of the first few episodes. They make a great, supportive, respectful of each other couple.
I really like this, BUT ffs kdrama/cdrama screenwriters; Naive <> Stupid. I am aware you are trying to make the FL "nice" & naive, but instead you made her a moron.
And she is another in a long line of female leads who is fiery and forthright ONLY with the male lead. With everyone else she is a passive little mouse. And you end up with no idea how or why she falls in love with the ML. In fact it is impossible to understand why she even likes him, let alone loves him. Maybe she has a foot fetish since he treats her like the dirt beneath his shoe.
Finally despite their attempt to portray the FL's dad in a positive way, he remains a POS.
lol at that synopsis above. It is nothing like the actual plot. If you want an accurate synopsis of this drama, go to the page for the original Korean version "Shining Inheritance"
I totally agree with the second thing you mentioned. The way they treated her when she seemed confused about whether…
I was saying all psychiatrist portrayed in Kdramas are portrayed in weird ways. From "Dinner Mate", to "Heart To Heart", to "Kill Me, Heal Me" to "Clean With Passion For Now"

Did not like the movie star character at all
