I think some people are missing the central point of this drama is corruption in all forms. Here we have the powerful families committing fake currency, money laundering, possible human trafficking, gambling, abuse of power, manipulation and all the jazz. The ruling family is being controlled by the rich families but at the same time they are also part of the corruption. This is similar to how the politicians are controlled by the billionaires who use them to do their bidding but at the same time they also get a cut. We have an emperor who wants to break this cycle but perhaps unaware his own are backstabbing him. Then we have Chancellor Shen who doesn't play by the rules but doing for the greater good while seeking revenge for his family. His priority is about his survival in this ruthless circle. Then our princess with her own agenda and mind games, also for her own and her brother's survival. Ultimately this is a losing game because there will be many victims along the way. There is a saying that one should never be too good in life, and this rings true. I mean you cannot fight fire with fire, you have to fight with something worse. Just my two cents.

I can't believe some people are still so happily discussing about Meng Ziyi's looks! Why are you discussing about someone's physique instead of discussing about the drama itself?

When someone is pretty, they accuse her having a PS. When someone is not up to beauty standards, they mocked her for being ugly. An actor did PS bcos they called him ugly, but after the PS they said he looks unnatural and looked better before.

If you don't like the actress's looks and keeps saying her looks distracts you, then WHY are you still watching? WHY torture yourself? There are hundreds of drama out there you can watch.

Personally I have 2-3 actresses that I hate and I don't watch any of their dramas no matter how popular they are. I don't waste my time by watching a drama with the actress I hate. I don't go around saying how ugly or fake or "unbearable to watch" they are. I drop a drama immediately after 2-4 episodes if it's not to my liking. That simple.

I agree. I think it is important for the plot to play out. The counterfeit $$ & the silver mining are just pieces of the puzzle. Beiyan wants the map but we don’t know why so that’s why FL is investigating it so she can have leverage to help her bro. ML is trying to avenge is family by destroying the Meng Clan. CP is the most obvious villain but I think someone else is pulling the strings. The other prince is most Sus TBH cuz every time we see him he is just creepy lol we’ll see if all the plotting makes sense at the end 🤞🏼

I think the village episodes was just not for the leads but the Prince himself... It showed him more than he thought... I believe he'll be the actual emperor at the end.
That other Prince is fishy and we all know the CP won't last long.

Just finished ep4 and WOWZA!!! I love the witty dialogue, the push and pull and the chemistry is off the charts. This is by far my favorite Liu Hue Yi's drama. All of his other previous dramas were boring and draggy. I hope they continue the pacing and intrigue.

I confess I haven’t really liked most of LXY’s dramas (except Blood of Youth) not because he’s bad or anything, they just weren’t my cup of tea. But credit where it’s due: the man has perfected the unhinged psycho smile. It's weirdly hot 😆😅

danggg ep 10, 4th prince and Shen Zaiye… didn’t see that backstory coming, makes sense now that I think abt the past flash back

This show is really interesting, LXY is the ultimate CDrama dark prince and Meng Zi Yi, did like her work in Blossom, which was definitely an unexpected great show of last year.
Shen Zai Ye is ruthless red flag and doesn't spare wanting to kill his wives nor does he care for any of them. But if I had four scheming women with ulterior motives, I would also be merciless. He is literally cornered by all four of his wives. The first one is quite obvious because she is a Meng, the second one is probably the most transparent, so you can rule her out, but the third wife is too quiet, as such the most sus for me. Then we have our Princess, who has been calculative since the beginning albeit for survival. I don't think he likes any of them but definitely met his match with the Princess. Shen Zai Ye is also working with someone else in the court, I am think probably the
Mu Wu Xia coz he seems to always be at the right place and at the right time. I guess we will see what unfolds.
BTW the way LXY was handling them prawns and cooking them, goes to show, man knows his way around the kitchen.
