I think 16 eps is too long for this plot. I'm on ep 11 and my interest is already fading..

hmm I'm actually kinda enjoying it so far

after ep 9 I was kinda wondering what the rest of the plot would be like.. I'm on ep 10 and I hope they don't go down the misunderstands route.. (although it's kind of inevitable..)
anyways, this drama has been entertaining so far.
the only villain I guess would be jung in's father who is weirdly obsessed with the idea of maeri marrying his son, I bet he liked maeri's mother in the past.. anyways, enough of my rambling..

because most historical dramas (although this is a fictional/fantasy drama) center around the palace/king etc. most of the time.. but you can find some period idol dramas in this style that aren't too focused on that, but I don't think you can avoid it entirely..
