I guess it's personal preference. I personally like cheeky/power bottoms (which is how I would classify Cher as).…
i don't think calling out their bad acting and the bad script is too much. i think we have to be critical of the media we consume. otherwise, showmakers would create just about anything because it sells and that is exactly what is happening in the bl genre.
also i like low stakes shows too.... for example, my school president and kieta hatsukoi. shows can be fun, entertaining and of great quality at the same time. this one, though, is objectively bad and i have fairly low standards for gmmtv bls to begin with.
i suffered enough and now i am finally dropping this.
there is no plot in this show. they just randomly glued a bunch of scenes together and called it a day. there is no explanation as to why someone like gun would fall for a literal baby. cher is the most annoying character i have ever seen in a bl. his character is so annoying because firstly, the character the writer wrote is already unbearable to begin with but book's horrendous acting makes cher even more unlikable. gun is fine i guess... force is a bad actor too but next to book, he almost seems decent.
anyway, back to the plot or lack thereof for that matter. it makes no sense to me why they would make cher a content creator and not delve deeper into that? like that would make for such an interesting show. they could've made gun cher's fan but not reveal it in the first episode. rather, it should've been a slow burn where gun figures out cher's identity but keeps it to himself for a while before finally confessing to him but instead, they just made him have an asmr channel so that guncher could've dumb and meaningless conversation over phone and god are those scenes so boring and hard to get through.
cher has a backstory that does not suit him at all btw. making cher a gen z content creator and also giving him that backstory makes no sense to me because none of those things are properly discovered or talked about in the show. gun has an ex who is also a friend and they had an amicable break- up. anyway the ex is just there. he has no purpose in the story except to make cher jealous for a few minutes there. again, no stakes involved there. basically, this show is so low stakes it is almost comical. nothing really matters. everything is resolved in a few seconds. a horrible, horrible show from gmmtv which is even worse than enchante, fish upon the sky and star in my mind.
gmmtv, treat your actresses with respect. give them main roles instead of creating horrible shows and giving your main roles to 'actors' who are nothing but a joke.
i found the first episode boring..... should i keep watching and wait till it gets interesting and picks up the pace or is the rest of the show similar to its first episode?
it's very different from the menu i suppose. while the menu was subtle about its social commentary, this one is…
also the stakes in the menu are HIGH whereas here the stakes are lower. one more thing is that even though the ending of the menu was over the top and ridiculous, i found hunger's ending much more unrealistic. however, it's still a pretty good movie and i'd say it's more engaging and easily understood by people. one similarity between the two movies is about how food which is a basic necessity has been commodified absurdly by the rich people who don't really care about the actual food but the status and prestige that food represents.
can y'all stop bringing lee jaewook up...... he did absolutely nothing that warrants this. imagine praising him over jeon doyeon and esom... istg kdrama fans will hype up the smallest things just because it's a man who's doing them.
fb are the weak link. i've seen bad acting before but this is worse cause they keep getting main roles even though their acting skills are horrendous. i was excited about only friends but they're definitely going to ruin the show..
