Honestly, her prosecution is considered light (especially considering she's in China) and I read that the officials who were in charge of her case received official warnings and demotions allegedly due to their mismanagement of her case. Guess the government thought her sentence/fine wasn't severe enough. But I do feel slightly sympathetic for her because the government has purposely made her tax evasion an example. They also threatened that they will start cracking down on tax evasions but have given a grace period if celebrities can fix their taxes by the end of the year. China has also enforced a salary cap ($10 million yuan) on what celebrities can get paid on TV programs/shows per season.

I personally find it to be all about greed, either on her end or her management's (but she does own her own management now). If it's undocumented (i.e. the yin-yang/split contract where only a small portion of her income is documented to the government and the other larger portion is pocketed) then it's un-taxable income. She gets to keep all of it to herself.

So they stopped mentioning Xi Feng and Zhu Yu, but we can assume that they're happy together. Xi Feng said that they rarely get to be together because they're busy with their tasks. They spend more time apart than together, but they're used to it and it's quite nice. They always have a lot to talk about when they do meet up.

Doctor Gu died while figuring out a way to defeat the Gu-abetted troop with Yun Xi.

I can't find any subbed alternative endings, but I do understand a bit of Chinese. There is one part I don't understand, but here's a rough translation of what he said at the end:

Not sure how the drama will pan out, but the vibes are completely different than Goblin. Comparing the two is difficult and makes no sense since they're different genres. I wouldn't suggest watching if Goblin is what you're looking for.

I'm still waiting for full subs, but I skimmed the last episode (with basic understanding of Chinese) and the main couple kind of ends up together. What I got from it was Jian Zi was being taken away and Tang Yin tells him no matter how long she'll wait for him. There is a bit more to it, but I don't know if you want more spoilers.

For something lighthearted, I would recommend Boss & Me and Love O2O; however, I would take Love O2O with a grain of salt. Most viewers either love it or hate it.

Something like The Princess Weiyoung (I've only seen a couple of episodes here and there), I would recommend: Sound of the Desert, Princess Agents, and Scarlet Heart. I've heard General and I was similar to The Princess Weiyoung, but I haven't seen it.

My current all-time favorite Chinese dramas are Eternal Love (Three Lives Three Worlds, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms) and Ode to Joy, but Eternal Love has a pretty slow build-up and Ode to Joy isn't lighthearted.

I think My Mr. Mermaid gives off similar vibes as this drama. It has a cutesy almost perfect couple with little to no conflict and great bromance throughout.
