nah who called her selfish that's crazy?! some ppl are so misogynic in here hating on fl because of their ship…
Calling out XY's flaws and seeing that she never truly overcomes them doesn't make one misogynistic. XY herself is a character rooted and shaped by misogyny and patriarchy. Her inability to become her own woman is proof of that. She never had a chance to live as a woman, so when she did become one, all she thought about was protecting CX and getting hitched. She loves her family but is unable to break free from it... why patriarchy? She wants to protect CX, so she entertains his supporters... misogyny and patriarchy!
She's always in survival mode, so her accomplishments are overshadowed by her trauma. She is brave in protecting her family but cowers at her own heart. She is smart, but she is also lazy. She wants a lifelong partner without putting in the effort but expects them to drop everything for her. When she finally has the courage to work for her love, she goes about it in a humiliating and degrading way. Some days I love her, and some days I want to smack some sense into her. Lol.
All this obsession with xl is funny. It wont end well for him. Fact is his selfish idea to keep the curse with…
Nowhere in the text does Tong Hua describe the practice of 孤 (Gu) as a negative thing. Did she paint it as mysterious? Yes. Was it unknown and unpredictable? Of course. But she explained it with a nuanced perspective that was neither good nor evil because 蛊 itself was meant to prolong loved ones' lives. It tied two people together in life and death. Lovers' Bugs are no different except they tie two lovers together. The Juili (Baili) Shaman King called it a curse only because of the ramifications if the hearts betray each other. Obviously, XY and XL aren't dead so it was never a curse. (¬‿¬)
I wanted to watch this after all the episodes finished airing, but then I read that the main female character…
I guess it depends on where you draw the line for selfishness. For me, XY is indeed very selfish and had a strong lack of self awareness. She makes decisions based on her trauma and throws the trauma card along the way. I don't like people who do this in real life, so I don't like it in XY as a protangantist. She also has very low self esteem and a strong savior complex.
Many audiences find her inability to overcome her trauma okay, and the little character development she has plausible. But for me, I was quite dissapointed. It is a fantasy after all, so I was expecting character development in a way that addresses her ownership of her trauma (AND no, telling everyone about doesn't mean she took ownership of it), low self esteem, and lack of self awareness.
But you should try to watch it and get your own opinion.
I'm sorry if people have given up, but I understand. No need to subject oneself to something that doesn't satisfy.I…
Kokuto....(ಥ﹏ಥ)
Jiayou! I can't do it anymore, I might find XL scenes to make a fun edit, but I don't think I can watch and put myself through the agony of seeing such beautiful characters turned into whatever this show is becoming. (@_@。
By now, Tencent is just catfishing us. Many of us have already given up on the show and many XL fans are just watching XL scenes. Whatever happens to the storyline, it's already pretty much butchered from the get-go. Many of us never cared for the non-tragic ending, just the character development--to bad that's ruined too. 🥴
Once again, today’s episodes have left me with a long list of things that the drama has changed or chosen not…
I've pretty much given up on the second half. All the most beautiful stuff that delves into XY psychology, her relationships toned down, for unnecessary scenes and half a** conclusions to story arcs, was very dissapointing.
Maybe they got half through shooting and reliazed they didn't have enough money or something. lmao.
Am I correct in believing that this would have been a marriage in XY's father's eyes? Due to rearing the love…
I ditto AH sentiments. But would like to interject that the blood oath that took place during the Lover Bugs has alot of hidden cultural meaning that relates to marriage I.e. the walnut. And to some cultures, blood oaths are also soul binding, so as a Hmong person, when I saw that scene, I had interpreted it as marriage of thier souls. So Everytime XY was with Jing, I had interpreted as her being unfaithful to her blood oath.
Can someone explain XY character development? What her arc? It feels like her character only regressing, she spend…
You are correct. XY, as a character, regressed. She goes back to being the same person she was when we met her in Qingshui Town. XL said it best: "You are now the same Wen Xiao Liu..." shortly after she shot him.
In the beginning, she leaves Jade Mountain, to which her family lost her. In the end, she leaves Chenrong Mountain, to which her family will lose her again. XY has a history of running away when she doesn't want to deal with her problems.
As a child, she didn't want to wait for anyone. She ran away because she didn't want to believe the Haolikg King was not her father. She caused so much hurt to her family and herself, and she never once apologized for it.
As an adult, she will again run away from dealing with CX's sacrifices for her and navigating his love for her, nor her grief of losing XL. So she will run away again with her makeshift family.
I always knew jing deserves xiaoyao but i cant help but feel a bit bitter for xiang liu. I find jing quite calculative…
All those added scenes and lines redeeming Jing character still only makes him more of a POS....he is only admitting to it now that he selfishness has already resulted in his gain. If he really care to redeem himself, it should be in his actions, not lip services.

lol. Zimis...sorry to y'all. (@_@。
yep yep
And it's a bummer becuase it would have been a great opportunity for Yangzi to expand her acting spectrum.
