People give that fox way to many credit....again...an idea is an idea, it still needs the drive, intelligence and guts of someone capable to execute it. Jing merely asks XL to pursuade XY not to marry FL, buying his oath with something XL was desparately needing. XL planned, orchestrated and implemented to ensure only Jing could be with her. Jing did the bare minimum of work and reaped all the rewards like a lazy supervisor.
I am happy with the way TH adapted the seven-day waiting period by the sea. I once got into an argument with a staunch Jinger about this scene in the novel, and she swore I was crazy to think XY was waiting for XL to answer her crystal ball.
Anyone who understands the story about the fisherwoman and the fisherman would know that waiting by the sea is for a husband. Since the sea is XL's home, XY was waiting by his doorstep for XL to take her to his home.
As with many Asian wedding customs, the groom always comes to pick up the bride from her home and takes her to his home to be welcomed by his family and blessed by the ancestors.
The scenes were actually filmed but got cut out by Chinese film distribution because it was getting too long...…
I totally understand. But the writing should have been more tight and balance at the beginning (Christopher Nolan for example) or loose like Wong Kar Wai's script (which CNA take forever to shoot). I hate long dramas, but if they were gonna write it this way, should keep second season long too. (ಥ﹏ಥ)
This season does feel so rushed already....we miss out on so many nauces with XY depression and her studying to keep her mind of things, esp. the carefulness of creating the crystal ball. The writing is just not balance enough.
XY's depression is deeper than just Jing...but some people read with their ears and listen with thier eyes....while others are willfully ignorant to understand that XY psychological and emotional issues is complex and filled with nauces, often dwelling on the past, and trying to control the future---always in survival mode.
I'm not ready to see XY to pimp herself to free her "manz...." Of all the things I love and hate about XY, this is the lowest plot point for me. Just before this, she yelled at XL for ruining her reputation, then she goes to prove her reputation was 💩 all along.
Why XY, WHY?! 🥹🤧 No man is worth this much of your dignity! Take it from a daughter whose mom wasted her youth and dignity chasing her father...💔😭
