am i the only one that doesn’t like TJ for XY? he acts a little cowardly to me. like he doesnt act like a protector
Jing is actually perfect for her because of her savior complex. She wants to be in control and call the shots. The men (CX and XL) that loved her in the grandeur scheme of things sacrificed the most for her, while, she only thinks about her life within her arms reach, and since Jing has made is only existence XY, he is the one within her arms reach.
Just finished ep. 9, and at this point, I have say that TH screenwriting weakness is starting show. All the added scenes of XL is useless and does nothing to move the story except to pull heartstrings. Even that conversation, between XL and Jing was useless, probably a poor attempt to give Jing some dimensionality and redeem his terrible character set up. It is incredibly sad to see her butcher her novel this way, whether through censorship or investors, I feel for her. It must have been hard to have to do it this way. Sometimes, artists just have to compromise at the expense of the art itself.
As a woman, I have so much empathy for Fangfeng Yiying. That Tushan Hou is a POS.Also... considering the novel…
I don't even hate FFYY! I hope TH keeps her revenge arc otherwise it totally would be a waste of her character development. And TSJ making promises he can't keep again. 🤢🤮
She always only focused on what he said, but not what he did
True...XY's receiving love language is alway affirmation...she needs to hear it. Whereas, XL's giving love language is act of service. So they were always at odds with each other.
kkkkkk.....the only loser is the coward who paid a poor man to do his dirty job.
I am sorry that you have to go through such things. No one deserves to be treated this way. You and I understand why XY chose the way she did, but we also understand she had more choices than that. Maybe YaoJing shippers find their ending happy, I find it incredibly tragic...just two broken souls codependent on each other. TH has said that their lives continue on off her pages, we could only hope they both learn to heal independent of each other, so that when the day comes where one of them should have to part, they are emotionally and psychological healthy enough to live on. Otherwise, it would have been a waste of XL and CX sacrifices.

YaoJing relationship is not rooted in realism because TH doesn't show the ramifications of how emotional abuse does to the mind and soul of a victim....but Jing character is rooted in emotional abusive behaviours, therefore, the relationship dynamic gives me ptsd.

In the novel, TH is very explicit about Jing's cleverness and how he hides it from XY, and how XY explicitly ignores his manipulation as well as how she tend to gloss over things if it doesn't directly put her or her family in immediate danger.
TH has tone down this aspect of Jing in the adaptation...but there have been a few scenes that brings this out. Of course, if you are watching it solely for the YaoJing arc and none of the extra relationship dynamics in LYF, then you wouldn't care to see anything else than this.
I have my own reasons to find Jing's character offensive...but unless you have dealt with people like Jing in real life, you wouldn't know what hit you.
XL is a character that can only exist in fantasy, so it's much easier to associate and disassociate with him from real life.
By "the first time he came to save her", do you mean in chapter 8 when she was still WXL and he went to the shore…
It would still be starcrossed story...XL would eventually die. But I think she would have been able to be more courageous and true to her heart. She would still have make choices: her loyalty, her heart or her fears.
If XY compromised her requirements earlier, accepted XL's fate, and eloped with XL the first time he came to save her, he would have used thier blood oath for XY to swore to stay alive...🤯
