I couldn't finish that drama. I am talking about in terms of acting. I don't like her acting style in her previous dramas, and I think for Grave, there's a subtle change to her that has made her Simu for more convincing.

I'll be throwing chairs if this happen again.

I think both Reba and Arthur are perfectly casted. This might be my fav. and probably Reba best work. I'm only on chapter 38 and was hoping to finish before the drama aired, but I think I might finish the drama and then repick up the novel.

Filmed in a green screen. the first act is very epic and vast, hence the longshots with the neverending landscapes.

Someone was complaining about the color gradation, and y’all… it’s not bright 🤣 It’s desaturated… literally devoid of brightness. My guess is the spirit world will have saturated colors and darker tones and be brighter. I love this contrast.

The five senses are sight, smell, hearing, taste and touch. Simu cannot see color and hear music, while she has no sense of touch, smell or taste.

Who the hell needs chemistry when the story is storying...and characters are on point. 🥴

You are mostly correct. BUT good scripts bring in the Editor at the screenwriting stage to map out the edits. Then they SHOULD be granted creative license to redit the final project. That's why they have a screenplay, a shooting script, and final script. So yes, the editor is partially at fault for poor transition. In Jade, it's not all censorship fault, it's poor writing and poor editing.

Yeah...it was an unbalanced script. Stray to much from the original source and ran out of creativity.

No, this drama is not better than Love Like the Galaxy. If you care for a storyline that actually makes sense and don't require you to fill in the blanks or suspend logic, than Jade was made for you. It had a great start, beautifully shot and then went downhill. Had a lot of potential honestly, but the script wasted precious time on catering to marketbility.

I gave up on logic a couple episodes back.

I'm not even a fan just a passerby...and I'm mad with them. It's infuriating...but their anger is misplaced...it's the money that's involved. ZLH doesn't have a strong backer so he gets screwed over for his good looks.

Sometimes I think Avenue X misses on her reviews too. LLTG is actually one of the better historical idol dramas and I think it portrayed lots of themes very well.

And I think @PlatinumFox did a really good job of explaining the complexity of LLTG.

And I disagree on the weak characters. Complexity doesn't need to come in several layers. Character growth doesn't need to be leaps and bounds.

A good director would know how to use thier actor, so director Zeng did pretty well with ZLH. I think it's still ZLH's best work, and he'll probably never get this kind of role again, or opportunity to work with a director that knows how to use him. Regrettably, that his character was expendable at the costs for fillers, other characters etc. Obviously in terms of acting, he is nothing compared to Tan, but I give him props for improving a bit.

Yet, the acting is not what I'm worried about, but the story and character. Tan can make a cardboard interesting, but even a cardboard has it limitations if it's not of high quality. So hopefully, Tan taking on the role was because they made changes that he approved and hoping that it's for the benefit of the character.
