I mean in others platform the rating is fine which is more than 8.0 but it's kindw different in douban that less…
Oh, I know abt Douban rating. I don't really care, because I have no hope for it going up anytime soon or at all 😜 I was more thinking of international streaming platforms, because these will be taken into consideration when judging the investor's interest to produce season 2, I would imagine. So, not just rating, but also how many people watched it, how popular it is etc. was what I was wondering abt.
The music really adds to the final experience (aside from maybe one or two instances of rather weird sound choices, like that one time when SW and JT were informing their parents abt wanting to move into dorms and we got this weird old-school suspense music😜). Together with imagery it paints a really beautiful background for the story. I'm actually looking forward to the release of instrumentals, hope we'll get them soon!
Does anybody know how the drama is doing on different platforms in terms of popularity and ratings?
I know it's stuck on arnd 9K reviews (with that frustrating rating that collapsed aftr ep 12 and just doesn't wanna go up) on Viki. Gaga doesn't really display the numbers, but The On1y One was never at the top of different lists for me there.
Anybody know about other platforms? iQIYI, WeTV? Maybe someone has info on what was the reception on Heavenly (Korean platform)?
Not to be a killjoy, but I doubt that Dong Qin would be the bearer of official news. After all, he's "just" an actor, even if his company were the investors behind season 1, I do believe they'd announce their decision in a more official manner.
But still, maybe he will imply something in tomorrow's live, who knows?
The singer of "17 RUN TO YOU", Li Zhiting aka Nasi Li, has recorded a live version of this OST! GO AND LISTEN!…
It sounds great, I wish she sang the whole song and this version was also available on Spotify. I actually liked her voice here better than the studio version. She sounds more... velvety.
Too bad we can't pin this comment. This is very informative and concise, thank you!
@MiHile, @Froehlein I created a new discussion thread where I compiled the info from both of you (I reference you both, to give you credit, as I was the one solely doing copying and pasting ;))
I have yet to watch this. Does it have an unresolved unhappy ending? I am not sure i have it in me to start another…
I'd personally recommend this series to anyone, as I simply think it's absolutely beautiful. It's become my favourite BL drama and one of my favourite Asian dramas in general. To me, it's totally worth time spent on watching it. Regardless of the ending.
Having said that, there is an open ending that's kinda unhappy... I don't know how much spoilers you're willing to read, so I will leave it at this ambiguous tone, unless you want to know more - I can explain further! :)
You mentioned that you're not sure if you can handle another series with no hope for the main couple. There is quite a lot of hope here. The drama ends on somewhat bittersweet note with a suggestion of things possibly getting better later...
And there is a chance for a second season, as well. The director himself really wants to make it. The On1y One is based on a web novel and what was filmed so far is the adaptation of the first half of it. If the drama gets a second season, it will cover the rest of the book (and the book does have a happy ending).
I remember Patrick Liu mentioned some time ago that the OST instrumentals would be released soon. Hopefully then we'd get them all on Apple Music/Spotify/Deezer.
Ok whats happening??? What was that final episode to an amazing series like that??? When all 12 episodes finished,…
Well, there are plans to make a season 2 and if it's made, you'll get 12 new episodes 😉 It's not certain yet, but the team and director are trying their best to make it happen, per the director's assertions.
Those who loved the drama are also trying on their own to generate more noise and show the existing "need" for s2.
There is a petition going around (link in the comments below, in case u wanna sign it), people are rating the show high on IMDB, as the director of the drama, Patrick Liu, seems to really focus on this particular platform and of course when re-watching, we use legal platforms (well, those of us who can, anyway).
There's a lot of anticipation for s2 and we should get the news in the next 5 months (there is also a chance that the filming will start in that period).
So, basically the director said on Telegram that the official announcement about the fan meeting has been delayed,…
Hey, I always see you having the most up-to-date info (thank you for sharing with us all! :)), so I just want to confirm, if I understand correctly: Is the news we were so anticipating today actually about the fan meet?
I think the ratings that really matter are IMDB ratings (since these are the one Patrick Liu referred to and mentioned…
"(...) we could shift the weighting towards the unweighted average if the newly created accounts rate multiple series, write reviews (probably at least 2) and are more active on the site" - yes, that seems to be the case :)

You seem to be really spot on with your observations!
I'm too lazy to do the research, so I chose the easy way for lazies like me and... asked ChatGPT abt IMDB rating 😜
According to the answers I got, things like: account longevity, voting history, recent activity, engagement level on the site (how many reviews u wrote, how much u contributed to the IMDB community etc.) are taken into consideration when determining the "value" of one's vote (so yeah, if sb votes for only one series, their vote will hold less "power", as you said).
It's really interesting for me how IMDB rating policy works. They adjust the ratings according to so many variables, all supposedly in order to ensure the quality of the final rating, but it does feel a bit... murky... 🤔
Supposedly, the ratings are also adjusted according to the time passed, to reflect how the audience's perception of the work in question changes over time, which I find a bit weird.

Hope you enjoy watching Minho in a BL ;)
