I was pretty bummed too when they cancelled The On1y One second season. But haven't you read the novel???? It's…
I was holding off on reading the novel, because I didnt wanna be spoiled 🙃I ended up reading some bits of it (like the Birthday/first kiss scene, which was beautiful... I wish the drama at the very least reached that part, but alas). I gotta say, though, that after waiting a few months for *any* info about the second season and then experiencing such a huge let down, I felt too bitter to finish it. Maybe I should though... I really loved the series.
Liu Yi is in the advanced stages of "gay panic." In episode 6, he was avoiding Chu San after being kissed,…
I've been having the exact same suspicion about Liuyi's sister since episode 2 aired. And then Xu Ying's words in episode 3 only made my suspicion deepen.
I honestly don't know if I've ever been this entertained by a BL show. This drama just delivers everything. Interesting story? Check. (I'd say immaculate) pacing? Check. Satisfactory acting? Check. Cinematography? Check. Deeper and sad moments? Check. Hysterical comedy? Check. And it manages to blend everything so well together. This is honestly such a gem...
But... Last time I loved a BL this much was when The On1y One was still airing... And there were talks about 2nd season... And it got cancelled in the end. And I'm having flashbacks, seeing analogies and already starting to worry...
Nope, this is the original version. The best you can get is some BTS scenes pre-dub (there was a clip like that from ep 5 e.g. where you could get almost an entire scene). Nevertheless, I'd say keep on it. The drama is super good and crazy addictive. You won't regret it ;)
Yes the dubbing is soooo out of sync, how did you guys get used to it? It is killing the experience of watching…
Originally I was thrown off, but then I started staring intently at everyone's lips to figure out if anyone is speaking Cantonese in reality and it became almost like a silly game to me (I have a boring life, ok? 😋). Once it stopped being irritating and became somewhat "fun", I made my peace with it. Aaand since the acting as a whole was good, the cinematography was gorgeous, the story became more and more interesting, the chemistry fire... it didn't feel like such a deal-breaker anymore 😊

Oh, I agree about starting it only after the series ends (which hopefully could be a long time from now, after a second season ends 🥺). Since I've heard there are a lot of differences, I wouldn't wanna constantly be spotting the, cause I feel like that would be breaking the fourth wall for me all the time and mess with my immersion. I prefer to have one, consistent view of the characters at the moment, which happens to be the drama version 😊
it seems interesting but the cantonese dub is bugging me 😭 I'm used to dubbing in Chinese dramas, but here…
You should. The drama is worth its hype and bearing with the dub. Besides, as kacee_ottis said, you'll most likely get over it as most people who felt thrown off at first.

Sounds like a legit addiction, I don't think there's any hope for you anymore 😉 I keep seeing people praising the book a lot, but I am scared of it 😋 Chusan's supposedly a red/black flag character in it, or so I'm reading, and I happen to adore his drama version (so far), I don't wanna have my image of him ruined (Gu Hai traumatised me for life 😅).

I havent watched episode 4 yet. I put it on hold and the reason being exactly the same as what you said. I seem to not have enough BL-feels-capacity for two shows, as I am so invested in Sammy's Children's Day. I can watch and enjoy a totally different genre (like Pursuit of Jade e.g.), but I just can't get into any other BL at the moment. My hear is just not in 😋 So my plan is to resume Wishing Upon the Shooting Stars once I'm done with SCD (not that I'm particularly happy about it's coming ending).
Simply the worst dubbing I've ever seen in my entire life. Awful! They ruin the drama with these horrible dubs!
Sound-quality wise etc. it's actually really decent, better than I hear in a lot of cdramas. The problem is lack of sync because it's two different languages (Mandarin and Cantonese). But it is tolerable, considering the drama itself being so good.
Right after Chusan wakes up you have a small flashback to what really happened (the lollipop broke when Chusan pulled it and Liuyi told him to get his own one 😋)
Matthew Han speaks Cantonese though.

P.S. If that's the "black flag" Chusan people kept talking about, then I am seated, cause I kinda love it 😏
Nevertheless, I'd say keep on it. The drama is super good and crazy addictive. You won't regret it ;)
