Voice actors can be fantastic, for sure. I still can't get over the guy who dubbed Chicheng in RL and how good he sounded. Still, I don't necessarily think preferring to have a full performance from one person (voice + facial expressions + body language) or wanting to have the sound in sync with the image has anything to do with being racist... It's just watching experience preference. Also, some people are more sensitive to lack of synchronisation between image and sound than others.
I loved SCD, it's my favourite drama of this year. I also really liked Chusan's voice in it (which did come from a voice actor). I felt it really created this calm aura around the character. Still, if someone gave me a choice, I would've preferred no dubbing and Changxi's original voice. If only for the fact that he would've had more control over his final performance.
I think it's fine to have these opinions, as long as we voice them in a civilised manner :)
But of course, skipping SCD due to dubbing? Nah, that's such an utter waste.

As not a big fan of dubbing myself, I can understand why you dislike it. Personally, if there's ever an option to chose between dubbing and subtitles, I always go for the second one. I also do agree that an actor's speech is an important part of their performance. In fact, if I haven't watched so many cdramas in the recent two years (and through that, grew somewhat tolerant of dubbing), I might've had tougher time watching Sammy's Children's Day. btw it seems off to you more than in other dramas because the actors were speaking Mandarin while filming, but the dubbing is done in Cantonese (basically two different languages). However, I do have something to say about your statement on characters' chemistry. People can say it's good because, as much as voice is an important part of acting, so is body language, facial expressions etc. They're even more important when it comes to chemistry between characters. Cause chemistry is more often than not in the way characters steal glances at each other, how they touch each other, how they smile at one another etc. All of these can be done without saying a single word. When Chusan is telling Liuyi how love is a life-long commitment for him while touching Liuyi's lips and staring at him with those pretty eyes of his, I honestly couldn't care less that Changxi was speaking Mandarin while filming, the dubbing is in Cantonese and the mouth movement is not perfectly synced. When Chusan is literally on the verge of crying while taking care of Liuyi's wounds, I really don't need anything more aside from his face, agonising over the pain and danger the man he loves is in, to feel how much he cares for him. When Liuyi can't take his eyes off Chusan when that sly fox is giving him a wet shirt show as a part of his mastermind plan to lure the guy in, I don't need a word to be said to see and feel how drawn to Chusan Liuyi is. So yeah, that's how I can say these two have great chemisty. Even if the dubbing is not in sync 😋

Well, I don't know what motivated their decisions, but what I do know is that they didn't have a big budget, so releasing two different language versions would've probably been too much (?). Besides, I don't have the impression it's that common even for bigger dramas. Plenty of Chinese shows are actually dubbed, as far as I know, though it's usually Mandarin.Dubbing might be a bit off-putting at first, but I got used to it. The cinematography is gorgeous, acting good, chemistry off the charts. Give it a chance 🙂 It's still my favourite drama of this year and it's already October.
The only "tiny" issue with these videos is that the English subs are not always the most accurate 😅 They're there, and for the most part you can understand what they're talking about, but bear in mind that they're not the best 😋

Effie already mentioned it, but to me - personally - their most genuine comments about their characters and the way they approached them happened during their reaction videos. The comments are made here and there, intertwined with more light-hearted reactions, so you'd have to get through quite a lot of "surface level" talks (but hey, you get to enjoy their great chemistry while in the process😉). Xizhao talk about their character's mindsets in certain scenes or how they tried to approach performing them; they point out visual symbolism of particular shots or even share some additional small info (e.g. that Zhao was speaking Cantonese in some of the scenes in the last episode). And you can also clearly see how certain scenes left a really big impact on both of them and how completely immersed they were while watching and reliving them. I even remember Xixi being not so happy with the way dubbing was made in one of his emotional scenes.... So yeah. If you're interested in comments of more in-depth nature about the drama, the reaction videos would be the right place 😌

They speak Mandarin in the series, I don't think I've heard even one sentence in Cantonese and I'm at ep 12. I think the person above was simply explaining why Chinese series usually are dubbed, e.i. because of how many different dialects there are in China and actors coming from different provinces often have very distinct heavy accents even if they speak Mandarin.

I don't really think that's the case. His original mission is to simply deliver the immune to wherever he's supposed to deliver him. The immune needs to be alive. I assume preferably healthy. It would actually be way safer if he just tied Lin Zai up and dragged him all the way to his destination.
The way they're travelling now it's super inefficient and dangerous. Lin Zai already tried to escape twice and also got them into trouble because of his naive nature.
And about him caring less about Lin Zai in the first episodes, I think it's just natural. They barely knew each other. The more time they spent together, the more attached they became.
Besides, you can clearly see that before kidnapping Lin Zai, A Lie was struggling with guilt because of what he was about to do. So I don't think his feelings now are some part of a mysterious masterplan to trick LZ.
