Actually, the topic of s2 and everything related to it has been brought up regularly, there are ppl reposting the link to a petition every 2 days or so etc. The thing is, I noticed ppl who just come here after completing the series often don't really read the comments below😜 (which is sth I can't really hold against them with over 9K comments total)

But I guess we could bring it up once again. Maybe aftr tomorrow's announcement (regardless of what the news is). There might be some new developments, who knows.

And I think you are right. I think there was this collective effort two weeks ago or so when a lot of fans decided to boost the rating, made IMDB accounts specifically for that purpose.

For me, the rating fluctuates between 8.9 and 9.0 all the time. But I don't think it's actually low, though...? When you compare it to other IMDB ratings, usually the series that have higher ratings are shows that have like 100, 300 or even less than hundred people who rated the show. Maintaining a 8.9-9.0 rating with over 7K viewers on IMDB is pretty decent, in my opinion.

I'm really fine with that, honestly.

I only hope that if there is a fan meet, attendance is high, they can make some profit and ultimately the message is sent that there are a lot of fans willing to spend money (hence, making s2 could be profitable).

I think the ratings that really matter are IMDB ratings (since these are the one Patrick Liu referred to and mentioned in his social media posts before).

I know there are some The Untamed fans here as well, just additional info for anyone interested: Xiao Zhan actually sang this same song recently. I prefer Teresa Teng's version because it has this nostalgic vibe to it, but XZ's cover was not half bad, either.

This scene is really beautiful (well, like many other scenes from this drama). Also, btw, did you guys know that the stuff actually put those purple neon lights there? I saw a Reddit post of a person who went to Taiwan and visited numerous places featured in the drama and they pointed out that in reality there are no purple lights there.
Just goes to show how much effort was put into creating the right atmosphere for every scene in this show...

Aside from the actual official OST, I also have been listening to The Moon Represents My Heart by Teresa Teng as well. It's an old classic song SW hummed in episode 11 (LDQ and Benjamin also sang a bit of it together in Starbox interview - for anyone interested) - the one that inspired the whole conversation abt choosing the moon.
Whenever I play it, it makes me feel so nostalgic...

I've tried to respond to some of these comments, but I don't necessarily always have the most recent info and I feel like maybe my own pessimistic attitude might've somehow surfaced here in there and created a wrong impression😜 even though I really want s2 and still hope for it to happen...

I've had the entire OST on repeat a lot in the recent month. All the songs are great, but since the first time I heard it, my number one has always been Interlude by Trash.

Not confirmed, but not a fantasy made solely by fans either. The script for season 2 is actually ready. The director kept talking abt s2 on more than one occasion, he even got online on IG at the beginning of this month, answering some questions, debunking some rumours abt it being cancelled, cast changes etc. However, at this point, it's neither certain we will get it, nor known if it'd be dropped.

So apparently there is a rumour on Weibo saying there will be a fan meet with both LDQ and Benjamin held in Macau this December... I don't know how reliable this info is, but maybe that's the thing they're planning to announce this weekend?

Dong Qin is super different to how he is in The On1y One (appearance-wise, but even more so acting-wise), so it's really entertaining to see that stark contrast, if nothing else. He's one of three main characters, so there's plenty of him.

I share your sentiment. To me it was definitely the best among all the episodes. The rest of the series was... decent, but - personally - I don't think any of the other stories managed to recreate the magic from episode 2. Terrance Lau was fantastic (no surprise there) and it might've been my favourite performance from Puff Guo in any drama.

I do have the impression sometimes that some who criticised or rated it very low did so in response to positive reviews and attention the series got. Like, they wouldn't even bother or would've been less harsh in their evaluations if The On1y One had lower ratings or garnered less fans.

In a way maybe it's to be expected. I myself tend to have higher expectations if I see some work getting good feedback (and that, in turn, could influence my watching experience in the end).

It can happen within 5 months, but also earlier than that. That's basically the deadline for any news - we will know in 5 months, whether s2 happen or not. Patrick Liu mentioned that theoretically, filming could start even this year.

The kisses happen in ep 2 and 3, as MiHile mentioned, but they're not really proper kisses.
One is a dare kiss, another one is a revenge kiss in response to the first one. I'd argue that they do make SW feel some sort of way, but it takes him many more episodes to realize his feelings.
The drama features a lot of very poetic moments, interactions between the two protagonists where you can really feel they're developing feelings, experience how they open up to one another and it's all very beautiful. Some of these interactions do feel like borderline flirting. In general, I'm one of the people who think SW and JT have great chemistry.
However, it's not the type of series that will give you a lot of physical demonstrations of their feelings. Not in the first season, anyway. If the second one actually happens, there should be some according to the book's events.

In all honesty, if you're starting this series with the anticipation for kissing scenes or some more physically intimate moments between the leads, then you *will* be disappointed. The story of SW and JT's growing bond is a beautiful one, but it's really more of "enjoying the journey" kinda thing.

I usually end up calling every Asian drama that focuses on gay male characters, a BL. It's quicker for me this way, and sometimes I don't really know if the drama will have that "vibe" to separate it from other BLs before I actually watch it. It doesn't really help that Love in the Big City is still under BL category on Viki as well.

I also feel that the term BL evolved over the years and is attached to more productions nowadays, not just pure "shounen-ai" (people call Your Name Engraved Herein a BL, e.g., which I originally did not but then settled for "ugh, I guess it's fine, whatever").
