NXG learned about it through LYS (he did some digging cause YR was working for SXJ). NXG, being nice and righteous, informed YR through an anonymous email (this would cause some issue). YR broke up with SJX by sending an anonymous email to all his family members with photos of their relationship. YR, indirectly hinted that it might have been NXG who had sent it to the family members. SJX took the bait and blamed everything to NXG and LYS. Funny how ungrateful YR was in this part cause she thought NXG and LYS was taking revenge on SJX by using her. Anyway, she left Shanghai after confronting NXG about it. The confrontation scene was also funny and irritating at the same time, cause YR dragged ZX into the whole drama she created.

Yes, he knew because NXG's dad told her about Ma Nian Yuan liking LYS, and LYS liking/courting MNY (which was, of course, not true). She didn't believe her dad, and went straight to LYS to clarify things. They eventually realized the misunderstanding. They did go to SJQ to clear more things about it. After realizing, it kinda broke LYS tho as he regretted the way he acted towards NXG. I'm waiting how they'll show these in the drama, also anticipating SWL's acting in this part.
In the novel, he did reach out to her... Unfortunately, they were destined not to meet after the graduation, tho I think it's the lack of his effort. He didn't try enough. I'm not sure how they'll reveal it in the drama or if they'll even take that path, but he reached out and even went to NXG's aunt's house to meet her, but he was told that she was "studying abroad" (another misunderstanding since they only went on a study tour/trip).
As for the promise thingy, he held onto what NXG told him when she confessed + the big grape, small grape analogy conversation they had before graduating. He thought NXG understood that he was pertaining to her, but NXG, being treated so badly by him and knowing about him and YR being childhood sweethearts would. of course, think it was about YR.
At the end of the day, if only everything was communicated properly, then he wouldn't be so disappointed towards NXG and himself. Still tho, I wouldn't be pro-ZX as being an introvert and awkward person doesn't really excuse anyone from being harsh and mean.

Honestly tho, in the novel, he is much less likable... For example, the scene where he told NXG that she's kind of leeching her parents, he told her that in front of everyone (their friends) in the novel, so just imagine the humiliation NXG felt. They changed that one in the drama and made it just a convo between them. Hehehe. But anyway, YR's really at fault for feeding ZX's brother some false narrative about NXG. ZX's brother would then share all these things to him. Although he really did like NXG (until the end, he'd have 2 girlfriends in the future, but he'd end up breaking up with them), he just couldn't be bothered before to understand and learn things about her, and he'd always made NXG feel like she always needed to be on guard around him so he wouldn't hate her or anything... there's a quote from the novel (NXG) that would really mean a lot why she chose LSY, not verbatim anymore, "compared to mutual understanding, love without equal response doesn't really stand a chance."

ZX was referring to NXG when he mentioned the big grape, but NXG misunderstood and thought it was YR, which was understandable given how ZX acted towards her. NXG didn't believe her dad, so she went to LYS to clear things out. After realizing the misunderstanding, they went to find SJQ for more explanation. It's quite heartbreaking for LYS cause he regretted doing the awful things towards NXG after this... I'm waiting for SWL's acting in this part!

That was Shao Jia Qi... He was the one who called LYS (ML) in episode 1 to meet up. LYS thought it was NXG (FL) he's meeting (so this is the misunderstanding part, the twist in their relationship). The hospital scene where SJQ was saying "she" couldn't come and he'd just bring her next time, SJQ was pertaining to a different lady (Ma Nian Yuan), but all along, LYS thought it was NXG cause SJQ told him that he'd be meeting the daughter of Nie Cheng Yuan. SJQ mistakenly took Ma Nian Yuan as Nie Cheng Yuan's daughter instead of NXG. Sadly, the whole misunderstanding was partly SJQ's fault. Hope that helps!

Totally agree! In the 2nd extra chapter (novel), it'll be somehow "explained" as to why ZX has such an attitude towards NXG. Aside from his inferiority complex & sometimes irritating attitude, YR's really the root cause of his misunderstandings, and his character's actually become more pitiful at the end... for me, at least. Lesson here: don't assume, communicate properly hahahaha
