On Takumi-kun Series 4: Pure Feb 25, 2024
back in 2012 when i had started my takumi-kun marathon, i didn't really enjoy the series as a whole, and couldn't feel any real attachment for the main couple (i still don't). but for me, this one is the best takumi-kun in the series (with arguably the last one).

it's the only takumi-kun movie i keep revisiting year after year solely because of the arata/shingyouji relationship. so far i've watched this movie 12-13 times since i first watched it in 2012. there is something in arata and shingyouji's relationship that i've yet to find in much other BLs and that really hit right the buttons for me — as toxic and angsty as it is (remember: it's fiction!). the chemistry between the two actors was (and remains) absolutely to die for. there is something about arata and shingyouji that heavily relies on contrast in many ways, and imo the movie team chose the perfect actors to illustrate that (both physically but also mentally). shingyouji's eyes are so expressive...the actor did an amazing job.

12 years later, i'm still weak watching arata and shingyouji together and i still get tons of butterflies watching the dressing room scene. i also really like the theme song for them, it's a subtle blend of melancholia and hope.

this movie is sublime and will always have a place in my heart.

I only just started this. Are there hints of BL or bromance?
imo shishio and wakamiya's relationship (how and why they first meet, how they start collaborating etc) is a beautiful and creative tribute to sherlock/watson's intemporal bromance (some would say canon love and i agree lol). there is a lot of funny, and sometimes angsty moments between them. and they often stare into each other's eyes lol i may be a rotten child but i feel like the two actors have a chemistry you can feel through the screen. only my opinion, though.

couldn't you use the spoiler tag???????????? it's here for a reason, i wish people on this website would stop…
for you, maybe. i had just finished episode 3 when i stumbled across your comment and that's not what i was thinking at all before that (and it's not the first korean thriller i'm watching at all). what is obvious for you might not be obvious for others. please be mindful of that next time.

it's highly depressing to think that it's all his delusion? it would be much better if he time-traveled.
couldn't you use the spoiler tag???????????? it's here for a reason, i wish people on this website would stop spoiling dramas in the comments. now i can't even see the point to keep watching it.

masterpiece in many points. the only thing that could have been done better imo is the pacing in the second half of the drama. the drama regains its initial rhythm after a few episodes though.

also, the bromance in this drama was to die for — the symbolism of the MLs relationship, how it evolves throughout the drama, the chemistry between them (one of the strongest i've ever watched on-screen). the character development is beautifully done. everything about this drama makes my heart swell! it's beautiful, and the mesmerizing OST is the cherry on top.

it's been three days since i finished this drama and i can't stop thinking about it. i was hesitant at first but turns out it surpassed my expectations. please give it a watch. all the actors in this drama gave SUBLIME performances. and i 100% concur with people mentioning the BL subtext lol IMHO there's more than a bromance going between the two ML and this drama is a "closeted" BL. anyway, there's so much more to say about this drama. i hope we get another season, still.

You know, I wouldn't mind seeing A-Kun&Angel's actors in a BL. I felt some good chemistry between them...well…
i feel the same. lots of chemistry between these two and i'm now craving more. i really loved how tragic their bound was.

I mean why there is no mention about how Nakamura died? How am I supposed to accept that an apparently healthy,…
the way i understood it, nakamura died of exhaustion. he could barely feed himself, and i guess with his two jobs, he was going way past his body's limits. he became no longer healthy once he chose to give up on his other job. i think part of the charm of this movie is that we don't know exactly how nakamura died. if he did because of exhaustion, then the title "egoist" takes a whole new meaning and kosuke's pain, too.

a masterpiece. i don't have the words to describe how beautiful this movie is, yet. but i'm speechless, i cried a lot during the movie and feel like crying again.

it's a movie about humanity, about the "monster" that lies within each of us and the forms it can take, the ways it can manifest. in several countries, the movie's name has been translated as what could be translated as "the innocence" which really fits this movie, because it is also about the clash between the innocence of children and the harsh reality of adults. this movie is pure poetry. if you can watch it in theaters, please do so.

however, i suggest you not to scroll down this comment section. someone mentionned one of the palms this movie got and as a result, i had already guessed what was the twist when i started the movie. i wish i didn't know that before going in, as it significantly reduced the surprise effect you're supposed to have with this movie and the way it's structured (imo, it should have been marked as a spoiler). please go as blind as you can with this movie.

The chemistry between both leads was just- delightful! I wish it was a main couple and they sustained toxic relationship…

this prequel was an ode to sensuality, passion, and the complexities of human nature.

i honestly feel so sad after watching this because i much prefer kido/kijima over kijima/kuzuimi. they're toxic as fuck, but i'd have loved, like the person below said, to watch how this toxic relationship of theirs would have evolved while being "consumed". maybe they could have grown together — especially kido since he is the main reason why things are like they are, in the end. i don't know, this story just really resonated with me even beyond their relationship (kijima and sensei's bound), and the chemistry between the leads was to die for.

also, i might have a huge soft spot for kido's actor — he's just very handsome and his deep voice made me dizzy at times. this series is absolutely beautiful and one of my favorites, for sure. i already want to rewatch it.
