out of all things why would they make the grandma sick (again) :(
i'm slightly pissed off on how old people in kdramas are being used as plot devices rather than having a character depth/unique charm of their own :( but there are obviously a few dramas that have elders as leads (dear my friends, inspector koo, etc) still... we need more old people validation and not just killing/making them sick at the last minute huhu
and there are other things that can make the lead suffer: struggling to achieve dreams, work stress, environmental pressure, low self-esteem, and the list goes on... please save our elders, just because they're "old" it doesn't mean that we should see them dying in almost every drama lmao
though i'm a bit bitter on how they continued the chain of old-characters-can't-have-lives-they-need-to-suffer-for-the-lead's-development plot, i'm still enjoying this drama as a whole and i don't want it to end T___T make my woongyeonsu happy pleeeeeeeeease
I have a non-story related question: Why are the names in the captions on Netflix spelled differently from the…
it's just the romanization difference. for example: 웅 can be either woong or ung, but the hangul stays the same. another one is 고오 which can be either ko-o or go-oh. out of the drama there are many korean words that have multiple romanizations; 영 yeong or young, 희 hee or hui in conclusion: both in mdl forum and netflix captions are correct : - )
actually the korean article was posted in 5 pm KST whilst the pann one in 2 am the next day. but yes of course we will never know if the following articles are either true or false considering it's not from jtbc nor the director/writer themselves
Why are you guys choosing talk politics and history on this drama when there plenty of other drama that was airing…
*deep inhale* at the bottom of my heart i want every actor and actress (who aren't problematic) to be successful. they obviously practice a lot and it's not easy, including jisoo. especially how she was accepted through auditions and that made me appreciate her more. i also want the drama to be successful as well! a production team requires a lot of people and i respect them for working hard. but knowing these back and forth controversies made me skeptical. alright, since i'm clearly done stating politics i'll just say that do not conclude that some of us are hating on jisoo. it will just cause more chaos when the drama ('s impact) is already full of them. look, is it that hard to just understand how critiques and hates are totally different? and for sure some of us are not using the drama for hate, like i mean why would we waste our time on hating someone? i hope one day you'll understand that. have a good day/night!
But some comments are clearly not critiquing but using the drama to hate on the Jisoo, that's unacceptable.
okay, probably in your opinion. i scrolled through over thousands of comments here and i see only little comments directly hating on jisoo. also, why you're literally raiding in almost every comment saying "just say you hate jisoo"? if you feel offended by op's comment then i'll understand. but you really need to reword your responses a bit since it might sound obnoxious to people (including me).
can you guys stop accusing some of us on hating your ult? giving critiques to a drama plot is not equal as giving critiques to an actor or actress. in either way, why can't we give critiques? stating opinions on someone's acting doesn't mean that we hate the person. don't act like children. rethink about your words more.
Sure they have a right to be upset but do they have a right to censor the drama? Do we throw out Peter Pan for…
having the right and reasonable is different. signing petitions to censor the drama may not be the best decision ever, but it is the only one. maybe you'd ask again, "then why did they just ask the writer to rewrite?", #1 dramas are HARD, hard HARD, to reshoot. remember when "the river where the moon rises" casts had to reshoot most of the scenes because of the ML's crime report? it took a lot of effort and that's just reshooting. imagine rewriting AND reshooting. how long will it take? and sd is a fully pre-produced drama which took months to shoot it. #2 misleading for koreans. the director's words made koreans lose trust. i don't know why, though. maybe in the future there will be more options other than boycott/signing petitions, hopefully.
the way the comments are so insensitive towards the issue.. this isnt about your unnie. there are some very real…
it's actually fun to see idol-turned-actors improving day by day, so seeing jisoo acting pretty decent here (i've watched a few scenes of the pilot) impresses me a lot. and of course, people really need to stop backlashing seriously. if a person never mentioned about them hating on someone, then don't conclude it. simple!
There are a lot of dramas like this..reply 1988 and youth of may and many more but when it comes to snowdrop why…
reply 1988 showed the aftereffects of the 1987 tragedy since it's set in 1988. r88 showed that south korea has almost fully healed - from the time of 1988 Summer Olympics. know the character Sung Bora? she's a student protestor, right? in fact there are still student protestors at that year - although not as much as previous years. the drama received good critiques from south koreans - thanks for the refreshing potrayal of protestors without actually distorting nor disrespecting it. source: https://www.koreaboo.com/news/reply-1988-praise-spotlight-democratic-movement-student-protests/
youth of may? i haven't watched it yet, but it has also received good reviews from koreans. saw many twitter threads on how yom's clever writing - not adding unneeded "melodramatic" backstories to the antagonists, focuses on the victims more, et cetera. again, i haven't watched it.
and no i'm not being sensitive.... it just irks me on how you guys are being ignorant towards history.
it's crazy how actors like hae-in and yoon se-ah accepted this project too? i don't expect much from idols lol.…
the hell you're talking about... south koreans are protesting it, currently 100,000+++ people signed a petition to the blue house to stop this drama from being aired. and also, just??? JUST??? are you kidding me? you're normalizing the romanticization of history? can you take a look at how most of the 1987 tragedy victims are STILL alive? you know you can give them some sympathy even if it's just the slightest bit - which is respecting them. please do a research first <3
Have the South Koreans read the script all the way to episode 16? I'm not trying to defend nor do I have the knowledge…
it's understandable sokors are mad because it's misleading (character descriptions are very, very misleading), but yeah then again the director mentioned alot on sd's presscon that the writer changed some stories here and there. so hopefully it will follow to those words.
to the people who said "it's fictional" or "it's just a drama", please, please, please take a moment and think what would you react if you were in knetz's shoes.
HISTORY dramas. the definition of history from cambridge dictionary: (the study of or a record of) past events considered together, especially events of a particular period, country, or subject. the keyword is "past events" which means that it HAPPENED. as ficitional as a drama could be if they involve on the word "history" that means the writers need to be careful as much as they could since it's about HISTORY, they need to RESPECT it even if the events were bitter than ever. why is respecting history that important? well, this should be common sense but whether what country you're from if you're not respecting your own country's history then you're not appreciating your country's existence.
okay if you're not the i-love-my-country type of person let's put it in yourself as an example. (god forbid) imagine you're an abuse victim. your perpetrator ran away and you're left alone. the police confirmed you're innocent, but then suddenly the crime got viral through internet and many citizens know you. then few years later there's a drama about YOUR story but it got distorted and the character that potrayed YOU is the "antagonist" rather than the real perpetrator (THIS IS NOT ALL ABOUT SD'S CONTROVERSY). obviously citizens will be real mad and do petitions right here and there to cancel the drama. and that's REASONABLE. why? -> not only the citizens, YOU will be mad. YOU will be really, really, really mad if some random person who you don't even know made up some drama that was supposed to be involving your story, but rather mixing it up. like, hello? history is not fruits why would people mix those up and why are YOU defending history distortion?
i'll say it again: as ficitional as a drama could be, if it's about history and the writers mess it up even if it's just naming a character the same as a real life protestor and making that character fall in love with a spy, even worse the protestor is still alive until today (glad they changed the name, thank you for that), that's just messed up. and there's no reason why we should blame knetz for being mad because WE ARE NOT KOREANS.
we, foreigners don't have the right to question why are they mad - excluding if we're studying their history or we're KOREANS.
add: even if it's just a misunderstanding or whatnot; history itself is sensitive. one misleading word can cause a huge chaos.
also about the character name: there are over 100 korean name combinations and it's quite confusing if they stick to a name related to a real victim. again, glad they changed the name.
about the drama snowdrop itself... can't really give my opinions since i'm not watching it so yeah
it's crazy how actors like hae-in and yoon se-ah accepted this project too? i don't expect much from idols lol.…
looking at how snowdrop's sponsors stay station compared to joseon exorcist's where their sponsors have already left since the 1st episode aired makes me think that snowdrop has a lot of money to buy these sponsors hence the drama is still airing since the sponsors are still there. perhaps jtbc is a cable channel unlike sbs, a free-to-air channel so they're richer? i don't know.
fyi i'm comparing SD with JE since their controversies are similar - history distortion (and i also have no idea how did the actors accept the script despite their misleading character description and synopsis, adding one of the actors mentioned in their interview on how they "learned" history from the script, simply not making any sense but since i'm not watching this drama i can't judge anything about it)
