I am so glad they didn't change the wording!!
AND he's got a costume!! But what an amazing power he's got, to be able to instantly help someone recovery stamina and power with just a sausage. He's a very capable support (if we can ignore everything else hahahaha). Omg, yes, when that guy was like "wtf was that animal, what a crazy scream" I literally burst into laughter. Ou Si Ka is so funny, I love him (seems like we're in the minority for liking him).

I'd say, from what little I know right now, Rong Rong is the one character that's most like the original book version. She is indeed just a pampered and spoiled princess of a very, very, very important and well-known clan. In the donghua, even enemies will think twice about causing harm to her bc of her family connections. So basically no one has ever scolded her or done anything but bent over backwards to appease her but you're right, she's harmless and actually does mean well, she just doesn't know how to convey it properly.

I'm suspecting china censorship guidelines?? Cannot have too many "violent" scenes maybe? -_-". Hope there's DVD…
I was surprised that CCTV chose to air this as well. They don't do genres like this but then again, Tang Jia San Shao is a very famous and respected author so it makes sense that Douluo was chosen. CCTV has been aiming for a younger audience (as seen by how the Spring Gala for the last few years includes a lot of "young and popular" stars vs more mainstream and easily recognizable singers). I have no issue with CCTV supporting XZ and am grateful for it but there's clearly a cost.

I haven't read the book and only because of this drama, did I start watching the donghua so I can be considered a new fan of the original source. I think it's cool to gain new fans but at the same time, to take away important aspects of what makes a fantasy drama so special isn't something that can be dismissed. At the end, there's just too many restrictions if one wants to air on TV but that's on NRTA and not this drama explicitly.

It "looks" good but it's the whole action of him whipping out a sausage from a suspicious container and yelling FULL RECOVERY BIG SAUSAGE like wth LOL. In the donghua, he's got a smaller sausage to go with the big one, I cried a little watching all the others physically walk away from him and his sausage.

I think it's to do with her being part of the "supporting" branch of martial soul powers. She's not classified as a fighter so she's very proud of the fact that there are strong supports (like herself). But I don't think the drama explained it properly!

Sigh...if I were to innumerate all the inconsistencies between the source material and the drama, the consequences…
Yeah, pretty sure at this point it's time to acknowledge that the drama adaptation is very loosely inspired by the actual source material. Coincidentally, I got right up to the point in the donghua where the team enter the Star Dou forest as well and the difference between them made me lol as ZWJ plays such a huge part in their training. I also have yet to see the Shrek 7 form a cohesive team and fight properly, which is kind of throwing me off since the pace of the donghua is very quick vs the drama.

I'm still holding out hope that Wang Juan does something with the script because he changed quite a lot with JoL as well and switched around various plots/merged some events together. Even with JoL, he changed the personalities of the characters but so far, it's not working so well in terms of sticking to the source material. I don't mind if certain characters are merged, ie ZWJ accompanying them into the forest vs Flander in the drama, but the story itself isn't nearly as cohesive as it could be.

i really hope they enjoy the drama and have an open mind going in. I have read the manga long long long ago so…
I've spoken to a few novel fans, some are quite disappointed in the story/plot and characters, and some are still willing to give it a shot and continue watching until the half-way point. In any case, the ratings for the drama are actually rising still so I guess there's fans tuning in regardless.

I wonder if S2 was pre-filmed and simply cut in half since the NRTA issued a guidance for dramas to try and be around 40 episodes long or if it's a whole different story. If it's a continuation and they haven't filmed it yet, it'll be ages until it's filmed/on screen x.x

Because of the drama, I started to watch the donghua! I think that despite the differences, the drama is still worth a watch as the universe is very interesting and the original novel will gain new fans too!

Besides we’re not even half way in so I hope they’ll keep an open mind too!

That’s so annoying! Tencent should be able to air their own ver since they’re online streaming it as well. This is a fantasy drama, they cannot possibly think of cutting the majority of the fight scenes!!

Just an FYI, saw some chart data around that said 60% of the audience watching Douluo (in China of course) are male. Considering what a huge IP this is, that’s not a surprising stat. But I think it needs reminding that the audience tuning in in China are doing so because they probably watched the donghua or read the manhua/novel.

(It's even worse in the anime xD they totally would rather suffer in pain than touch his sausages hahahahaha)

I'm glad Rong Rong came to Oscar's defense. He's embarrassed by it and that's sort of true to character but I like seeing her say that she thought it was super cool and make him feel less dumb about it!

I would totally eat that sausage, it looked good ok!

I think they're making a point of not showing Tang San fighting. I'm not sure if it's for some big reveal later on? There's been plenty of even more violent scenes in cdrama land but I'm not 100% sure if it's to do with Douluo airing on CCTV or not. But it's been countless times now so I feel like it's on purpose but for what purpose I guess we'll have to keep watching to see!

Title Douluo Continent Spoiler
The preview for ep17 is interesting. Tang San seems to know now who his father really is, and in their last meeting, his father said Tang San probably already had a hint but it seems that Tang San knows more now? Possibly, did something occur while he was under the control of the spider? Or...do I just want things to happen faster bc I'm impatient, lol....

Also, why do they keep editing Tang San's fight scenes, ISTG. We didn't get to see him fighting Bu Le's croonies and we didn't get to see him fighting with the spider either. He's a dang good fighter, so let us see it pls??

Which one do u prefer? :pI don't really pay attention to her personality changes, Xiao Wu is sort of forgettable…
Oh boy, I was not prepared for it xD I thought One Piece at the start was bad but lol the art style is def not my taste.

Literally every episode I watch, I think that there’ll be a twist because I trust in Wang Juan that much! Fingers crossed!!

Is Xiao Zhan in the drama ?Yes then let's fight over how bad the drama is to destroy the poor guy's success as…
To be extremely fair and I've been here in the comments since the drama started to air, 99% of the criticism is towards the changes in the story and in the characters' personalities. Very rarely has anyone hated on Xiao Zhan personally or his acting.

The drama is doing just fine in China, which is where it matters. I'm a huge Xiao Zhan fan, I bought both Tencent VIP and WeTV VIP to support him but that doesn't mean I need to like 100% of everything he's in. There is no such thing as a drama that everyone loves everything about. There will always be issues.

Oh seems interesting? I like strong minded female leads too. Will give the novel a try if it has been translated.
I wouldn't say that Xiao Wu is a strong minded female lead, she's just a lot more witty and has more comebacks. She's also far less naive and simple-minded than the drama makes her out to be but she's not a truly strong female lead.

That's the english translations of the novel! I'm watching the donghua though which you can find on Youtube via Tencent's channel as well with eng subs!

I got about ten chapters into the manhua and to be honest, the artwork is throwing me off, lol so then I went for the donghua hahaha

It would so easily show their strength! It's weird because if you watched JoL, the protagonist in that is also quite powered up from the start/learns during childhood, and it's the same scriptwriter so I'm wondering why he chose not to do something similar here.... T_T

Can I learn where exacly it says that author was included?
He was present at the press conference and said that he was happy with the Shrek 7 and that he liked what they did with the adaptation. It's on Tecent.
