Title Mr. Queen
I know this drama is amazing, but i can't seem to get through episode 1. This is my third time trying and it took…
I found nothing funny about it as well. What irritated me the most was the FL's overly dramatic antics and apish ways to suposedly show she's a man in a woman's body. If you want to see a ma-female switch played to perfection, go see The King's Affection. And the FL practically hitting on 2nd FL every chance she got like a mutt in heat???? The cringe level on this totally silly arc was through the roof!
I like the FL. She's a very strong and skilled actress but I just did not find her funny in this drama.

a female lead I can think of similar to Seryung is Cha Ji Won from Flower of Evil and its interesting Moon Chae…
This is the exact same problem that I had with The Red Sleeve. Episode 15-16 could have at least shown a slice of the happy lives of the lead xters.

I just finished watching this drama but all i can say is episode 17 is so so useless and it killed everything…
The bitter taste of ep 17 would have been tempered and sweetened if ep 15 & 16 had shown more about their lives together (even with Deuk mi's miscarriages) and Yi San's victory over his political and familial enemies should have been extended into ep 16 as a counterweight to this this to keep up the tension and avoid a fluff slump.
Their longest surviving child lived for 4yrs. EP 16 could have been about their lives with their son which probably would have been them at their happiest.
And yes, I'd love to write and direct a historical drama 😁😁

King Yi San waited an angst filled, more bitter than sweet 14yrs to get together with Deuk mi (EPs 1-15). Condensing the culmination of this epic love story and what is probably the happiest time of their lives, the birth and albeit brief life of their son, into 2 brief and scattered minutes of flashbacks almost totally ruined this drama for me. WTAF!!!
According to history, their son lived for 4yrs. Their lives together with their longest surviving child was worth at least 1 full episode aaaarghhh!

DO NOT judge watching this gem based on the synopsis from Netflix or MDL for that matter.
I skipped this beautiful gem because of the head fake from Netflix and the brief and uninspiring 2 line junk piece from MDL. Though I'll say the headfake from Netflix was justified to the extent of avoiding spoilers.
This was an eight course dinner worth every bite.
.
Plotwise, its a revenge and justice kinda gig though I was somewhat bemused by the FL's take on revenge. But I got on board after meeting the unrepentant evil that was Jin Yoo Hee played to paerfection by Jung Eugene.
Initially, 1st FL came across as weak. By episode 2, she proved to have a backbone of steel and gave as good as she got especially when faced with the unrelenting and laser focused evil that is the 2nd FL. She never backed down and displyed a strenght of xter that withstood and outplayed all the shenanigans of the moneyed trolls that littered this drama.
You gotta admire the 2nd FL's unrelenting, straight-forward, no-holds barred scheming and wickedness played with such ease and panache by Jung Eugene. I like that the writers did not try to remake her xter with some god-awful come-to-jesus redemption arc at the end (I don't care if your father dropped you into a vat of boiling oil at birth. There are some lines you just don't cross).
.
If getting hoisted on your own petard was a person, it would have been Choi Yoo Sun (owner of REX) who played others so hard, she outplayed herself. Her story arc was so darkly humorous. You are not going to see it coming.
.
Lee Hyung Joo, the 1st ML was a class act throughout this drama. He displayed a depth and strenght of will that just made me admire him with each successive episode. Save the inexplicably bad judgement of overlooking the 2nd FL's inviegling her way into his business ( along with other downright foolish business decisions that calls his business acumen into question), i like that he did not get fooled by the 2nd FL and stood by the 1st FL and true to himself all through. He got pounded but withstood the storm and did not fold. And most delicious of all, he called 2nd FL's bullshit and his revenge was the sweetest. I rewound and watched it twice before moving on.
As for Cha Seok Jin, he started out opaque, irritated me with his lame but devious scheming in the middle but redeemed himself by the end.
.
No intimate or kissing scenes between the main leads and I did not even notice. Thats how good this drama was.
I would have loved the closing scene to also include the main couple rather than the unrealistic phoenix-like re-emergence of a xter that if considered within the context of the drama and Korean society at large, would have been consigned to the trash heap of history.
All the main actors and supporting xters gave a wonderful performance and this was because of a brilliantly written script and the ending was superb. Though I wanted more, anything longer than these 8 episodes would have been superflous.

From the general storyline, this alleged extreme weightloss sounded gratuitous and unnecessary that she needed to get down to a life-threatening 37kg weight for a plot in which sickness was a side note.
And even if the entire drama wa renamed cancer, why the hell did she have to go this far in this day of excellent CGI?
This is insane!!!!!!

I think this is how badly they want to promote their drama... Making up lies knowing that there's no way anyone…
This was my first thought even though I've not read the webtoon.

Han Seok Kyu is a fantastic actor with a knack for so perfectly and effortlessly immersing himself into the storyline of whatever character he's playing.
HSK can play big-brother, mentor orsamchun his way through a thousand and one dramas to both old and young, male or female, and you'd never get tired of watching him bring out the best in his co-actors. You're actually more likely to wish to meet him aling this journey of life.
There's just something good about him that even at his worst in a drama, you forgive him and simultaneously want him to achieve his aim whether good or bad!

I guess you've figured it out... I'm a huge fan!!!

Kim Young Kwang in this this drama is THE REAL and stunning WORST OF EVIL!!!
You can practically see and literally feel the force when he throws a haymaker.

Shin Ha Kyun's acting is again riveting!

These 2 actors are the perfect foil to each other driving this amazing drama.

I swear I'm still not in a JCW mood, but for my girl Hye Sun, I'm going to anticipate this.
I was just about to comment on how totally Wookied out I am. πŸ˜„πŸ˜„
And I'm a lawyer too!
I was excited to watch TWOE and got stuck at episode 9. The excitement fizzled out by episode 4 and I slugged my way through to ep 9. I'm a huge fan of Korean gangster drama and TWOE just felt cringe and vanilla to me. There was just nothing worst about any of the evil going on in the drama.
I'm a fan of SHS but going by this trailer, I feel 0 excitement to see this drama.

This drama had a script that was like a badly sprung runaway train with failed brakes and a plot line akin to throwing enough mud at a wall to see what sticks.
FL is a bad actress who acts like a bad actress. She never melds with her xter and lacks chemistry with the entire cast and the script.
And whats with Kdramas and the never ending 24hr truck load of makeup? Asleep or awake, ML had a trowel of makeup on 24/7. Watching him vacilitate between cold and silly repetitively will give you whiplash.
The SFL xter was downright insufferably stupid while SML xter was an insult to HJ's acting chops.
The rest of the cast played various middling roles that steadily grew annoying with each successive episode. By episode 7, you'll be looking to cast a vanishing spell on them all.
Overall, the show was riddled with enough plot holes to make a 1 ton block of swiss cheese jealous.
Goodluck watching!.

Best scene so far - Lee Mi Hyun dispensing a swift and delicious John Wick style justice to the North Korean agent who masqueraded as a school cleaner. A number of scenes could have taken a page from her style and wrapped things up better with the business end of a gun.
