Person Ren You Lun
Mostly Chinese actors has no plastic surgery.
What makes you think I don’t apply the same standard to western artists? I deplore plastic surgery just for fashion in general, and I’m not the only one. I wouldn’t be surprised if there will be a backlash. Authenticity can become the new standard.

Aaawww, your way with words is so good, I think you frame it perfectly like this, “The journey into the human soul is a type of wanderlust” . Needless to say I’m an avid traveler as well. It all comes down to learning by watching.

A good read, thank you. “You become what you watch” is that what you’re implying? Interesting thought, and now that you mention it; the way I go from one drama to another proofs I live my life like a headless chick.

Honestly, I’m fascinated by everything that’s different from everyday life since I started to read fairytales as a child. I developed a hunger for knowledge of different fables, myths, religions, lifestyles, while getting older. Is this escapism, or fascination? I still don’t know, never think about it, really.

In other words, I don’t reflect on my life, so perhaps watching drama is a means to do it. Watching drama is for me “going with the flow”, see how it makes me feel, think about people, issues, things. If I get fascinated by some particular hashtag or theme I want to see ditto drama.

Your thoughts on drama connected to business, product placements, and other skills to influence the consumers we are, are pretty interesting. Especially if this influence makes us vulnerable to absurdly high beauty standards that can only be achieved by plastic surgery.

A friend of mine recently started to watch The Untamed with me out of sympathy because I didn’t want to rewatch this drama for the umpteenth time alone. He complained, the actors were so unreal, white, thin, they had undergone plastic surgery, and yes, I had to agree they had done that, and I didn’t even realize.

So, that’s my latest caprice, discover the latest fashion by looking at the eyes, noses, color of skin, chins while watching actors. And more importantly, how can I counteract this trend within my own circle of influence, to help each other to be self-assured, beautiful people!

So, thanks again for bringing up this baby. From now on I finally know how to watch drama ;)

Thank you guys for giving tips and tricks to hang on to this lengthy drama.

However, it got difficult for me to continue this battle/ballad after episode 40 when I had to watch two parrots nipping each other in stead of earning a love scene as reward for my endless patience with the so-called slow burn romance, talking about metaphors... All in all my love for historical settings still wins.

Thank you, and thank you for your own reviews! That's what I like the most at MDL, reading reviews of other drama fans.

Title The Untamed Spoiler
Lol I think that's just part of his personality haha. But it could also stem from his mother telling him that…
It is strange that Wei Wuxian is said to have a bad memory though he's called an excellent student as well. That's why this question keeps puzzling me. Beside the song Wangxian there are other examples mentioned in the novel.

*Wei WuXian was taken home by Jiang FengMian when he was nine. Most of his memories from back then were already blurred, he could only remember one scene of himself and the silhouettes from his parents wandering on the road. It results in a lifetime longing for a family home, a place he can return to, popping up as his idealistic dream in the incense burner chapter;

* Lan Wangji decides to princess carry WWX after his leg is damaged by a black curse he took over from Jin Ling. LWJ returns a favor that WWX has forgotten, he once carried LWJ on his back when his leg was broken.

*In the end Lan Xichen gets angry at WWX because he's so cruel towards his brother. Then he asks Wei Wuxian “Is your memory damaged?” After that he decides to tell WWX how he was rescued 16 years ago by LWJ at the massacre of Nightless City, and that he heard him saying 'Get Lost' to Lan Wangji after LWJ's love confession in the cave. This triggers WWX to pronounce his love to LWJ in front of everyone at the Guanyin Temple.

Hahaha thanks for your answer. I know, in the novel Wei Ying is joking about his memory loss to Lan Wangji telling him that his mother taught him that, to forget the good deeds he does for others, and LWJ adores him after that, but I don't buy it :)
Perhaps it really happened in his youth when Little Wei Ying was wandering alone and near starvation, fighting for his food with dogs. It's a fact that lack of food can damage brain cells at a young age.
Also, I read a great theory at Archive of Our Own, a fan fic about the dark days that Wei Ying spent alone at the bottom of Burial Mountain. It explains his memory loss with a story about him making a deal with evil spirits to get more knowledge about demonology in exchange for his happy memories. It's a brilliant theory, don't you think?

Title The Untamed
Okay, I've rewatched CQL for the nth time, listened to some episodes of the audio drama today, but I still have this question unanswered, why is the memory of Wei Ying so bad? Was he ill before he was picked up by Jiang Feng Mian on the streets? Just like what happened to little A-Yuan who couldn't remember his youth? Or did something happen when he fell from Burial Mountain?

Watching, and hearing the English subbed audio drama may be a good alternative. I love it!

Just because we are human beings with flaws, doesn't mean we can't do anything against criminal behavior. Do you…
Ajumma, either you mean well, and are just appallingly naive, or you lack a whole lot of empathy towards the victims, and just see what you want to see. In the first case I'm glad I wasn't in your class for 20 years, because I'm afraid every bully could have a go at me and you would probably just pat his head for being a naughty schoolboy. In the second case, how can I help you understand why society is against criminal behavior in general, and against VIP's who are guilty of it, in particular.

Kim Ji Soo has speedily written an apology to the people for were bullied by him at high school. Some wondered why he was so soon with his statement, that's not the behavior of someone who just made a few mistakes in his youth. Was it perhaps to keep more of his dark past out of the publicity, to make financial deals with other victims? Who knows? When the first allegations of sexual abuse came out on the internet, his agency put up an email address for people to "talk about it". This Michael Jackson way of dealing with victims apparently doesn't work, because on the internet popped up other stories about his bad behavior from the time he wasn't a teenager anymore. He seemed to have molested quite a few people https://dailynaver.blogspot.com/2021/03/netizen-comes-forward-with-testimony.html?m=1

I can understand you feel appalled by the way every anonymous person can say anything about a VIP who has been charged with criminal behavior. This is the so-called Bonfire of the Vanities. People who have been admired by everyone, and turn out to be crooks, are treated worse. Big trees fall hard indeed.

You say you don't believe anonymous accusations on the internet, even if they are on such a large scale and you ask why people don't identify themselves. Have you never heard of victims of sexual abuse and how they abhor to speak about it, let alone say aloud their names in public? That's the very reason why #MeToo works so therapeutic. People who are ashamed for years finally come out on the internet to tell their story. Not even for revenge, but to free their minds. Kim Ji Soo knew this, he was waiting for it all those years, and now that it is finally happening, he must deal with it, like he writes in his apology.

And quite frankly, how can you talk about little jerks when we are talking about sex offenders here. If those anonymous accusations are true that are opened out on the internet, and invested thoroughly as we speak, this little jerk raped young men, forced male victims to do him a favor, ejaculated on their face, and even filmed at least one of his escapades to share his victory with his friends. I hope the investigations won't take too long. I like to stay neutral in this, but did you hear him, or his studio, make furious statements that he is wrongly accused? They simply could have done this, like everybody who is the victim of vicious slander. Moreso, Kim Ji Soo is famous, he's standing in the spotlights, he could take the stage very easily to pronounce his innocence. All I hear is silence.

I agree the internet can be fast and furious in spreading lies, but I think the truth is bigger than the lies of people with bad intentions you are talking about. Such a truth doesn't spread that fast as lies, and there's a reason for it. The absolute truth can be harder to digest.

Below is the statement from his company (it sounds as if a dog owner is trying to figure out how many people did…
Lol, to compare Key East Entertainment to a dog owner, I like that comparison.

I must say, they have creative writers in that company. Who do they think they are, a public prosecutor or what? "We have opened an email account ([email protected]) for any information that will help solve the case, for those involved, in order to find out the truth."

Sounds to me they have opened a one-stop shop for victims with sound proof, to create an opportunity to pay them off.

It's stupid to delete somebody from movie or TV series, just because netizens wants it. You should remember the…
It's stupid to compare Maradona doing drugs to someone who abuses not his own body but the bodies of others. If that isn't tyranny, what is?

Perhaps you didn't read the allegations that he himself described as his "dark past"? I agree we mustn't burn or wipe out history, just because we don't like someone. That's why I write his personal history down here:

"On March 2, former classmates of the actor at Seorabeol Middle School alleged Ji Soo was a juvenile delinquent and bully. "Ji Soo filmed himself having intercourse with a middle school student in a bathroom. He shared that video with his clique".
"He forced male students to do him a favor, ejaculating on the victim's face. I have a recorded conversation with the victim about the incident as proof."
See for other crimes in the period he wasn't a teenager anymore: https://dailynaver.blogspot.com/2021/03/netizen-comes-forward-with-testimony.html?m=1

You say people are incredibly dumb if they don't respect a competent actor. I think you underestimate us, and you don't have to wait for a brave pirate to see Ji Soo. A natural gifted actor like him? He can make his comeback anytime, in porn.

Makes me wonder who the real bullies are: This kid or the netizens with their cancel culture. Let he among you…
Just because we are human beings with flaws, doesn't mean we can't do anything against criminal behavior. Do you pity him because he made so many victims during the years that they are able to raise an army now? Or do you find it a bummer shows can been cancelled because of one sinful actor? I understand your point but investors don't think that way. It's the profit forecast that matters. "If in doubt, do not do it." Good advise 2000 years ago. Good advise today.

Having been a victim of emotional and physical abuse and bullying during my school years due to the fact that…
You say people change and grow. This is not the case with children who are guilty of criminal behavior. We are not talking about pulling hair, or calling someone slit-eye here. This is about serious things, assault, sexual offends at a young age. That's why children can be convicted for crimes as sexual assault and murder, because they need to be locked up to receive serious treatment. The age of criminal responsibility ranges between 12 and 15 years in most civilized countries . That's why Kim Ji Soo should have been punished long ago, if his victims had been more courageous to speak. Finally he gets the chance to redeem himself, to become a human being. I say this is good karma.

Sexual harassment and bullying are universal signs of power abuse. Whether you live in America or South Korea, everybody can read the signs, people who walk over the heads of others and get away with it. Out of collective shame, guilt, impotence, we tend to gloss over the ugly facts, changing them into private matters that must be solved between offender and victim. But deep down we all know this abuse of power is a threat to society. It has to be stopped, one way or the other.

That's why I'm glad with recent coming out actions of victims, and bystanders, who finally have the guts to bear witness to ugly signs of power abuse in the past. Yes, it feels uncomfortable to read the stories of #MeToo, about child abuse in the Catholic Church, and so on, but justice must be done. Corrupt systems need to change.

I've experienced quite a few feelings of shock and regret myself. VIPs that I loved and admired, turned out to be bullies or sex offenders. I think it's good they are punished in public. What happens to their cultural heritage is up to their fans. Perhaps people can still enjoy the work of a Woody Allen, Michael Jackson, Kim Ji Soo but they have to be aware the artist is a villain.
