Yep, finished the first 10 episodes to give this series a chance. Still I'm not hooked, in spite of the star cast. Too much bla bla, needless information, it loses pace. Seeing WYB's face, or his salto mortales on a wire, can't make up for that. All the while this makes me realise how important the writing is, and what a difference a director makes. True gems like The Untamed are rare and hard to find.

Another failure is the miscast of poor Liu Yichang. He convinces as the good-hearted rascal Zhao Cuo in I've Fallen…
First, thank you for taking time to read this review on MDL. Second, words like “pissing me off”, “bias” and “inaccurate” make me feel like I’m pulled into a debate with idol stans. But I’m not watching “my actor”, I’m just a drama fan. I see actors as a part, not as the main reason for watching a show.
Third, I wonder why you get emotional about Liu Yichang and Qi Peixin, while you don’t comment on my description of Caesar Wu. I see no difference in “actor bashing”. Also, why do you feel the urge to defend these actors? It is perfectly normal that actor’s performances differ in quality depending on the strengths and weaknesses of each production. It’s like a lottery sometimes. Actors get rewards if they have been lucky enough to have acted in a master piece, or they get bad ratings. They deal with that, it’s part of the job.
As for my lack of objectivity, that’s just the point, isn’t it? Being part of the My Drama List community means everybody can share their personal taste for drama, including you. So, feel free to write your own review and let us decide if we like it, or not.

Wow, I salute you, die-hard Wuxia fan. I”ll keep this martial arts course in mind when watching future fighting scenes.
And for the record, I still haven’t relented nor accepted the new ballets. The Asian war, and fighting movies from 25 years ago are still the right stuff imo, my main reason to explore wuxia drama anyway. Mythical beasts or long robes don’t mean a thing if it ain’t got that MA swing :p

I’m still suffering from a Post Untamed Depression but willing to move on with this drama. Though I see a lot of mixed comments here.
So this is what I'll do, I'll watch the first 10 episodes. Not without prejudice, because I already have opinions on the age gap, WYB's Tin Tin hairstyle, airborne Wuxia choreographies, bad CGI......but let's see where this leads me. In the meantime happy watching for everyone :)

Apart from the needless escape runs in the beginning this show is really entertaining. Can’t wait for the next episode!

The Flame’s Daughter should be in this list too.
Agreed. Just updated the list :)

Six episodes seen, and I'm hooked! What's all this complaining about the casting? The ML and SML should be swapped? I don't think so. Leon Lai is a good choice for the tall, lean and mean Li Qing Liu. His character gives us a hint who he really is, reminding me of Yu Wen Yue in Princess Agents.
Alen Fang is a great choice as well, he has proven in earlier series he can play a sweet, melancholy man to a T. And a cheeky Bai Lu is a delight to watch.

Can it be that the so-called "lack of chemistry" mentioned here, is general disappointment about the lack of romance? That's understandable. This series isn't the epitome of sweeping romance, not even romcom. It's a screw ball comedy in the purest sense, a battle of the sexes, with lots of laughs, disguise and masquerade, and conflicts between social classes. It's all right if that doesn't flow your boat, but don't blame the actors.

He stole the show in Oh My General, charismatic, tall, well built, a good actor. What happened to him? 丁川超话你在哪里?何时归来?

Ashes of Love has the usual Chinese romance trope frolic FL/aloof ML, and I can't get enough of it, but this time I felt for RY Night Immortal. He peeked my interest like that other ' bad guy' Yan Xun in Princess Agents. Both characters seem good at the beginning, becoming darker eventually by some unlucky turn of events, either in their youth or later on.
I guess it's a never ending nature/nurture debate. Like @Heidi says, RY is the result of his toxic environment so he can’t be classified as a bad guy.

All the uncut YT versions are deleted :( Does anybody know which scenes are deleted in the official version from Tencent? Is it worth looking for the uncut episodes online?

Thanks, you’re right. Here I am, explaining the love for drama and Disney, to a troll of all people, or some unripe kiwi-leftie with too much time on his hands. I see potential for comedy here, slice of life.

I’m sorry but you, or anybody for that matter, can’t dictate any of my questions. You like to tell me what my question should have been. For you it’s obviously politics, perhaps your whole purpose of being here, on MDL. My question however is Do I want politics mash up My Drama List/Disney World? And I already know my answer. Bye.
