I loved this season of The Devil's Game. The games are complex and, thankfully, there are no unnecessary conversations. Sometimes the length of the games can be a bit annoying, but the series has done a great job of adding a twist when things get a bit stagnant. Plus, I found all the contestants to be quite fun and very smart (of course).
Really enjoyed watching this Kdrama! Loved the performances, the fluid action sequences and the tension throughout the runtime. It's a fantastic entertainer even if you haven't read the webtoon (like me). However, I think some of the characters, especially the antagonists, were underdeveloped and thus the impact was a little lacking. Either way, if entertainment was the goal here, it completely delivered.
Hyper Knife is a complete waste of potential, in my opinion. The series starts off strong, and the medical drama gets a twist -- which is all 10/10. Park Eun-bin is equally fascinating to witness. She's fantastic in every scene. But there are so many plot holes, some story points are plain silly, and the series gets boring at times. Plus, I found the ending to be egregious. It took a serious downturn towards the midpoint and never really recovered.
Just finished watching Karma, and I must say that I really enjoyed it. The performances are fantastic, but that's to be expected. I liked the way the storyline weaves in and out of characters and situations, the way everyone is connected and that justice is served. Its title holds true throughout the runtime, and although the characters felt a bit hollow, I don't think I would have wanted it to be anything different. It's entertaining without the feeling of crushing sadness that shows like this bring forth, and it is surprisingly mellow which might interest many viewers.
Newtopia is fine, entertaining even at times. I found the characters humorous at times and was surprisingly moved by the secondary characters' deaths. I found the protagonists to be quite forgettable, especially Jae-yoon. Young-joo does have her moments and I think Jisoo did a great job with the role. All in all, this one is a light-hearted, forgettable watch and is great if you need something to not take seriously. Your review just convinced me to watch this. Thanks.
Oh that's so great! It's a very different thriller. It leaves you thinking a lot by the end of it about spirituality, religion and mental health. Quite interesting :)
Loved watching Revelations if for nothing more than for the performances. Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-been are simply fantastic, although I think the former is better. There's just something so unhinged about him! The story was really thrilling and tense, although it did sometimes drop the ball a bit. Either way, thankfully it picks up the pace soon enough. It's also surprisingly emotional, which I didn't expect. Here's my review - https://www.leisurebyte.com/revelations-review/
For everything that is holy Soo-yeon, please tell your husband and your son the truth so that they can help your daughter get over her crush. It's cringy and icky otherwise! ohmygod.
See - I am willing to suspend disbelief that Pil-seung isn't able to recognize Do-ra with the new hair and glasses and all. But the fact that DR is now a total bumbling fool is just so annoying. She is a new person, I get that, but write better "interim" characters is all I am saying.
Love Mi-ja getting beaten up in prison, though. 10/10.
This drama is absolutely wild, I CAN'T EVEN after the latest episode. Like, I get loving your parent and all but to have absolutely no idea about how much money you have in your bank account and doing insane things to appease the person who has now pushed you into debt is just top-tier bad decision-making.
And I understand wanting to push the FL right down to rock bottom so that we can follow her rise to the top but my god - have some compassion for your own characters. I miss watching Live Your Own Life and just want Do-ra to take notes on standing on her own feet.
