What an enjoyable (read: heartbreaking) drama this has become. I look forward to Mondays!
I don't think we need Ji-an's mother to come back to add complications to an already complicated and fraught relationship. I don't understand this addition.
Man, this drama is healing me and breaking my heart at the same time. It's so well done till now – hitting all the right notes and balancing the humour and the emotions so well. Yeom Jung-ah and Choi Yun-ji are simply fantastic and have such good chemistry.
I soldiered through watching both seasons of Love Alarm in 2 days, and I have a lot of thoughts, although now that I am writing this, I think this might be very muddled.
Characters: I have never come across a show where every single character is either an idiot or a sociopath. Jojo and Hye-yeong are both idiots who somehow can't speak to themselves, each other, or anyone else, for that matter. Things happen to Jojo, our protagonist, but somehow she always looks like she's on the verge of an asthma attack, and she never stands up for herself. And although doe-eyed female leads can be endearing, the inability to stand up for yourself even once feels like an exaggeration of epic proportions and makes me want to slap her. Same goes for Hye-yeong. He is apparently a good guy who loved Jojo since day 1. But somehow Sun-ho came along and pushed his tongue down her throat, and he simply did... nothing. He never confessed, never talked to Jojo and just waited around looking at her hopefully? Is this supposed to be cute? Now comes Sun-ho, the most insane character I have ever watched in a show. He's not stupid, but he's crazy. Everything that happens around him is about him. Jojo's existence is about him, and her feelings are about him. Hye-yeong is breaking his heart because 4 years after his break-up with Jojo, he dared to try his luck with her, no matter that Sun-ho backstabbed his best friend and went after his girl. I can't take his ego; every minute he speaks, I want to punch him harder.
Story: The story isn't any better. The flow is clunky and inconsistent, as is the story itself. I don't understand why this app has no other features. There's only one setting, and you can't turn it off or on. Duk-gu gave Jojo a great feature, but she can't turn it off if she ever wants to. No one speaks to each other, and it's just Sun-ho running around calling the shots. I don't understand passive characters who can't do anything on their own or stand up for themselves. Two whole seasons and not one character has an arc. It's insane.
Go Min-si is the only good actor here who shows range, although Gul-mi is insufferable. All the other characters are just so passive that the actors only have one ":O" expression throughout all 14 episodes.
Rarely do I write such long comments here. But this one makes me irrationally angry.
Wait... what a random end this was! It's been 10 episodes, and I am still unsure about the point of Sa-rang's character. He just appears out of thin air to make Hye-in's life easier and then just... disappears xD I am so confused. Anyway, this was a generic end; it was good, but felt very soulless. Finished watching Glass Heart, and I loved it. Despite the flaws, it's extremely enjoyable. The music, especially, is simply fantastic and will mesmerise you. I can't express how much I loved listening to the songs. And the performances are completely magnetic. The only issue I had was with some of the characters and their developments, but honestly, I really had to pull myself out of the music to notice them.
A decent ending for Head Over Heels, but overall quite disappointed with the series. It was my favourite this year, but unfortunately, episode 11 completely destroyed whatever goodwill I had because it was rushed and underdeveloped with several tonal inconsistencies. Although episode 12 is much better, it still remains underdeveloped. There clearly was a lot more in the webtoon that the series had to rush through, but that could easily have been solved with 4 more episodes.
I absolutely loved this show. I thought maybe it would be slow or boring, but it brought forth some honest feelings and emotions that made my heart swoon. Although some fans might find some choices to be unfair sometimes, I will say that relationships are seldom perfect, and I think the series encapsulates that well.
She tries so hard to be a badass queen bro it's embarrassing at this point. Why doesn't she learn she can't do…
You know, I believe that people in her situation can be very badass. But she, unforunately, cannot. It's a little pathetic to watch her flounder around.
i am convinced Hye-in is the real villain here. Whenever she thinks that she's going to be the biggest baddie, it blows up in her face and destroys everything and everyone around her. just terrible decision making all around.
