Sure! I don't really know how to hack (as I pointed out in the article) but lets see if I (or google or stack…
Oh don't worry about it. Yeah, if they sent you the message and you read the message without opening the link, you're fine. The only way someone can install some app onto your phone directly is 1. They have access to the email account that you're logged into your phone. I'll use gmail as an example. They could to to the google app store from their side, sign into your gmail account, and download an app onto your phone through the google app store. But they'd only get your email and pw if you had fallen for a scam where you had given them your information. You seem smart enough to not give out your email and pw so I don't see this happening. 2. They could install some app onto your phone if they had already previously hacked your phone. You don't seem to have clicked on a link, so unless a game or something that you installed on your phone had a virus hidden in it, this won't be happening either. 3. Do it kdrama style and steal your phone, use your finger to unlock your phone while you were sleeping, download the app and run away just as you wake up LOL But lets be honest here, no one is THAT dedicated to hacking one persons phone unless they know you personally... right?
Can we all agree, the Ahjumma from Healer and her incredibly (un)realistic hacking scenes, being all 'superhero…
OMG LOL, JUST THE TECHNOLOGY IN GENERAL. HOW DID THOSE YELLOW SPY GLASSES WORK :0 Yes, I know! I understand procrastinating, but I do take breaks in between to actually worked. How the heck they were top students at school AND top players of a video game completely went over my head. I get being smart and not needing to study, but there's also something called typing and that takes time. Wow... the kids at your country must be dedicated, now I feel bad. I'm glued to the screen cuz of drama LOL. I spend around 3 hours coding a day (oops).

Oh wow, alright. It's not stupid at all, those are really viable questions. So, your phone is way less protected than your PC so yeah, absolutely (your PC can also be infected if you click on a link, but just as a general thing to keep in mind). By simply opening that link you are in danger of getting malware. This is because the virus is downloaded onto your phone whenever someone visits the website link. This is unlikely these days because browsers (be it phone or PC) will block automatic downloads, but it can happen. So I would steer clear of clicking on those links. It all depends on what the virus does. But in general, hackers can go through your files, passwords, browser history, location, texts, apps, and yes, your camera can be accessed without you knowing. I know you were asking about phones, but if you have a laptop you'll notice that a light lights up whenever you use your laptop camera (actually, your laptop model might not have this feature. But lots of laptops do). That's so that you know when the camera is in use. So if your light is randomly turning on when you're not using your camera... You might have been hacked. Sometimes, hackers can also see every single keystroke/tap that you make.
I completely agree with you! I always laugh when a character hacks the government’s system, I can code but hacking…
LOL IKR, imagine single handily hacking the gov without them doing anything about it... There is a c-drama about CS majors, I didn't fully watch it tho. It's called Love O2O, CS isn't the focus tho.
OMG I completely agree to every word you wrote! As a software engineer, I experience two things very often - first…
Omg, yes, being a girl in CS is such a weird feeling. Because in today's society you're told that there is no such thing as sexism. But then you sometimes feel as if your classmates are silently judging you, as if they're telling you that you're only getting more opportunities than them because you're being favored in the industry for being female. And yes, after declaring my major, I suddenly became the person who fixed every mouse, earbud, and fan issue... I was like "I have no clue what I'm doing" "Also, the perception of being self centered, super arrogant and geeky. I don't fit that mold at all." Yeah most of the CS majors I know are the most fun and chill people I've never met!
as a computer scientist, stack overflow is my literal best friend lmao
omg why is that so true. But most of the time, my questions are so stupid that I go into incognito when I google them so that I don't need to feel the shame of forgetting how to use a char Scanner in java LOL
Thank you! I mulled over that sentence for ages, I'm really proud of it LOLOmg, an all-nighter and procrastinating…
Omg I would be sweating SO HARD (you know? That feeling when you have a deadline and your code won't run no matter how much you edit it). I can't imagine happening to me, I think I'd cry out of frustration.
I do understand tho why hacking in movies is portrayed in such a way. Hacking in real life is boring, and it takes…
Right, you'd probably have to plan for weeks, maybe even months. You'd probably need a team of people and dual monitors (not those big fancy screens flashing like 10 different things, just a plain old dual monitor LOL) and stuff. And yes, 100% protect yourself from a counterattack. Really? I guess its time for me to take some uh... courses next semester ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
This was a fun article :) I didn’t know what a computer scientist was before reading this.
Thanks! Haha, that's fine. I always thought that computer scientists were the people who tinkered around, pulled your PC apart, and then put it together again. I only found out was a computer scientist was when my brother started majoring in it, I was shook, I'd been living more than a decade thinking that they were called "hackers". Thanks Matrix + any-other-US-action-movie-with-hacking :))
Have you watched Cdrama Go Go Squid yet? I love it! Let us know your opinion about CTF. I think Cdrama tackle…
Oh, I've watched an ep of it so I don't think that I got to the CS part. I'll check out the other eps sometime soon. I've seen Love O2O, and I appreciated how the writers made the mc's have a pretty laid back life. They didn't hack, didn't suddenly know how to fix PC hardware, and procrastinated a lot LOL
Loved the article! It's funny how in dramas they always hack the government like it's no big deal. First off, it's…
LOL YES, that is SO TRUE. The only drama I've seen where the government catches the person is My Holo Love, and even then, they do a pretty bad job at it considering how major the hacking was.
Nice article. I never really thought too deeply about these scenes. The transferring data file screen - Maybe…
The files they're transferring aren't small, that's for sure. I'm not sure how large patient files or proof of corruption is, but I'm sure its more than just a few pages. They can't be too big tho, or else the USB wouldn't be able to take all of them. LOL I can imagine a comedic scene of some dude trying to upload a virus and the antivirus getting in his way. I still hate debugging. Earlier today, I wrote this 300 line code, I didn't bother spellchecking throughout the thing cuz I thought "I won't have THAT many errors"... yeah, I ended up just scratching it and rewriting it.

WHY IS THAT PASSWORD PART SO RELATABLE HAHA.
