Well more than kdramas I am a huge fan of webtoons 😭 and I will just say 3 things.

1. I am very happy to see most people enjoyed the series as much as I did

2. The series is way better than the webtoon ahahaha BUT it is a lot different (can’t give spoilers) and in a way I wish they won’t make a season 2 based of the webtoon which rely a lot on action, gang, blood and things like this.

3. Not gonna comment on how good the performances are but still.. Extremely surprised by Park Ji Hoon’s acting. On his last scene he totally conveys the right emotions and this was such a great acting. Also if you watch interviews and stuff it is even more impressive cause he’s extremely different from the role he played here.

that’s it !

I honestly always wondered why this wasn’t preferred over Goblin even tho I perfectly understand that everyone has a personal preference and all. In any case before you come at me, I liked both a lot. Most legendary kdramas are those.

Anyway I wanted to make a (spoiler) review just for one thing… How is NOBODY is talking about the fireflies scene ??? this is one the most memorable scene of all korean series I have seen ! So precious… Anyway that would be all I have to say

PS : I am a bit shocked to see that most of the comment section didn’t like the series

Oh boy. You know when a drama is one of the greatest of all time when it sticks in people’s minds no matter how many flaws it has. When I say greatest it is not like ā€œgreatā€ but more like ā€œa legendā€ like… people will remember it.

Does it mean it is not good ? I personally liked it a lot. I personally liked those old fashioned dramas because they rely more on performances than anything else. Cgi aren’t great, plot isn’t flawless, artistically speaking it is far from nowadays series’ quality in every aspect… But performances are always on point. No wonder why we remember more those actors’ names and praise them.

I think the moment of ā€œI can seduce you in less than 10 secsā€ (of 5?? I can’t remember) is one of the most memorable scene of all korean series production. And it personally was at this very moment that I found myself also convinced of this series. (sorry for short spoiler)

It is a k-drama to the core and nothing more and nothing less. Does it mean it is bad ? Absolutely not. (I mean don’t seek for originality)

The thing I like the most about it is that it is a mature drama. Most kdramas nowadays involves young generation of actors and a childish setting and development. It is not a problem, but a preference.

I haven’t seen kdramas as I described it with mature cast, a bit less childish recently. To name a few, Goblin, Nine tailed, my love from the star.. those are mature kdramas to me which we all enjoyed. Even King the land developed itself to be a very childish kdrama. So it is refreshing to watch this one even tho it is not perfect.

The second strongest asset of the series is how beautiful it is. Maybe one of the most beautiful cinematography we haven’t seen in a long time in a korean series.

I personally liked the series how it was and the directing choices that were made. But I can understand some people who disliked it. Like I said it is beautiful visually and the soundtrack is too. And it was a directing choice to make it looks like a piece of art literally. In that process, the dialogues are sometimes flat and it can seem long sometimes and so boring to many because of this choice. Also you can tell they try to convey a story nevertheless as things speed up oddly and fast at some point. And that can be a drawback to me and to others. I was fine with the poetic boring side because it was pleasant to me.

Should you watch it ? If you like mature kdramas a bit poetic and beautiful yes šŸ™Œ

Go to "community" and the go to "forums" and ask for reccs there. Why would you come into the comments section…
Being nice is not something you seem familiar with I see. I don’t go to any forums and this was the only japanese series only trending recommendation list on my drama list and I watched a bit. And I like romance too. I just didn’t like this one.

and so I will ask you too, if you can’t be nice too and can’t recommend something why would you even reply here ?

Try Gannibal (Japan) and After Dark (Thailand) both are quite grotesque and bloody.
I will note Gannibal but After dark I know about it. I mean I think I know enough thai stuffs for now even if I don’t know everything!

Nothing linked to this series but I want to expand my knowledge so I am looking for recommendations on Chinese and Japanese series (not movies). Please only recommend extremely good ones if anyone pass through this comment. And I like everything. Biopic, drama, tragic, gore, horror, triller, black and white, silent, action, fantasy etc.

About this one I dropped out after 4 episodes. It was a bit boring and uneasy to me

Early review on the first part. And it is a lot disappointing to a point that I wonder if ratings and reviews are only based on the cast (lot of popular actors).

There have been a lot of confusion between the synopsis and the actual series and confusion from people comparing it to some other zombies series. Personally people should stop comparing zombie series and this also has nothing much compared to any zombie genre… As for the synopsis, it feels the synopsis gives more interesting ideas than what they actually convey on screen.

So far performances are great (most of them) but it doesn’t save the series to me. The directing and plot isn’t fitting well. There are not good (if any actually ??) transitions between scenes. You jump from something to another that doesn’t seem logical in a way. The rythm is extremely slow with a lot of unnecessary scenes.

It feels like they try to build up some mystery by not revealing things but instead they make a quite a boring plot in the end. And because it is not efficient, when revelations arrive they are not interesting enough in a way that the viewer is not engaged enough.

Lastly the series is kind of shy. Like it is trying to be not too scary, not too gore, not too funny, not too sad… like… it is not taking enough risks and in the end making something rather flat and boring sometimes.

And my opinion is personal but from most reviews I read, even if they give good grades I don’t feel the excitement like in some other on going dramas. So it is what I am trying to say here…

Final review,

I maintain the fact that it is very entertaining despite so many flaws (in every aspect of the series and directing process).

Unfortunately the last episode doesn’t fit right. There are too many flaws to make it enjoyable on this final episode. Mostly the ending plot was the problem to me. It is not even the fact that it wasn’t original or rushed, the ending idea was too much. Even tho we appreciate a lot the last minute of the series which remind us of old horror movies like ā€œtriangleā€.

But overall it is still very entertaining.

Hyunwook is honestly so good even in non comical shows...he was amazing in weak hero, high cookie, and dp 2 (especially…
I guess it is your opinion but to some of us, he was not good. But thanks to his fans he’ll get other lead roles.

it really has a lot of potential, only the flaws and some characterization issues that's bothering the goodness…
do you have any ending theories ?
On Night Has Come Dec 19, 2023
A lot of flaws in this series in pretty much everything (plot, cinematography, music, performances and so on) but still very enjoyable.

The concept is one to be stolen because it is actually good. I repeat that it is very enjoyable cause as for myself, it got me going until now and I wil prolly watch the last episode. But of course, all characters are a bit cliches and can (to me) be a reason enough to drop the series half way. I can also say that in a way it’s a bit long. Episodes are only 35 (idk exactly) minutes and a lot of scenes could be cut out to get a more intense or ā€œnormalā€ rythm and get straight to the point.

Then the list of flaws is long but not going to spend more time of it.

So before the last episode airs, let me hear your theories ! (dont forget to check ā€œspoilerā€ if you get into some)

is there any romeance in the series?if yes,was it a happy ending?
There is in a way if you consider romance to be the fact that 2 people are aware of each other’s feeling. But it is just this. It never goes beyond this point

i found its ending bit flatall those episodes about how she valued there friendship unit she started liking him…
Even if it can be true it doesn’t bother me.

But personally from her performance you can tell she had the same feelings as him from the very beginning. The thing you might have misunderstood is that she noticed his feelings were the same a bit around the 3rd episode ? (I can’t remember) anyway she can’t feel him for a long time.

I find it beautiful that so many people identify themselves. Like having a friendship with someone from the opposite sex that lasted over than 20 years or 30 years (they are in their late 20 if I remember correctly -may be wrong-) and pounder ā€œI have feelings but what if it breaks if we start a relationship ?ā€. And how they both performed this is very beautiful to me. But I give it to you, it’s not the end but the whole series is a bit flat because it is intentional. So many might not like it.

Ji Chang is great and I became his fan after the worst of evil but for me Lee Do hyun is the best actor as of…
If to you versatility is a genre you are missing so much works from him that are not romance…

The worst of evil
Fabricated city
Hard hit
+ some you already mentionned

And theater performances are available online too. didn’t you say.. genres is what make them versatile ?

But to me versatile cannot be choosing a different genre… so many actors are choosing different genres that I cannot count them and their way to play something is the same… that cannot be versatility to me. Of course the genre helps you to do so but not always. And also, in order to do so, the actor has to be very engaged in the process of filming. not saying one of them is not, on the contrary.

LDY has only recently shown versatility. that is why to me he has still to grow but indeed prolly the most promising actor from males. we agree on that.

but all of this is the reason why Ldh cannot yet be compared to JCW even tho we may not say this next year or next next year ? it depends on how well and how fast he will work from now that he is starting to show more of his colors.
