Manchester, England. Have you ever visited?
Thank you, it is my first time partaking in this sort of forum. It is rather more interesting than I had initially thought. You all have amazing insights, and I have enjoyed your well thought out analyses.
I quite enjoy the soundtrack myself. So many emotions packed into the vocals as well as the songs. And the lyrics…
I am, a great deal actually. It's definitely one of the best that I have watched this year thus far, and possibly ever. I still have a few episodes to go before I make my final verdict.
Like many of you, I didn't skip the opening- ending MVs in any ep. (This is very rare. Very very.. :)) And when…
Interesting observations mate! I might have to rewatch the opening song myself to catch the details that you have mentioned. I agree that Gongsun Heng's death was a significant period in Chang Ge's journey. It was his appearance in her life, and his sacrifice that had provoked her to search for her own Tao. From the moment she had walked out though the gates of Shuozhou to meet the Ashile army, that was the point that marked the beginning of her journey to find her Tao, her purpose in life. It is a momentous but also very heart wrenching arc. I would say that this is probably the moment in her life where Chang Ge feels the most loneliest. The burden she felt, the loneliness, sorrow, and anger all bottled up inside her as she made her way out of the gates with nothing but the chilling snow to accompany her.
I share the same sentiments mate. I didn't think I could love Chang Ge more than I already do from when I had read the manhua. But after watching this drama, I have fallen for her more and more with every passing episode. She is a wonderful woman.

I am glad their weren't too many affectionate scenes. It wouldn't align with their characters. I enjoyed the simple gestures and loving gazes that shared with each other. They aren't grand, but was done in a way that was able to move viewers hearts. I could feel the love and yearning they had for one another.
Yes, the actress who plays Li Changge is an Uyghur. Her visual similarities to the Changge in the manhua was one…
What I like about the character of Chang Ge is that she is a quick learner, but I also like that the change in her character doesn't just happen overnight. She learns from many experiences and eventually reflects on them to improve herself. I am beyond impressed by her, considering her age. I don't think I can accept any other actress to play this character. Dilraba has portrayed the Chang Ge in my heart very beautifully and might I say flawlessly. An amazing actress.
The art in the the manhua is wonderfully drawn by Xiao Da. I remember enjoying everything about it, from the art, to the plot, and most importantly the characters. I do hope that she continues it one day.

I am beyond charmed by her beautiful features. She is gorgeous to put it simply. But usually I don't like actresses just because of their beauty. If an actress can't act, I won't put up with it even if they are outrightly gorgeous. There was a drama I watched a few years ago called General and I. The actress was beautiful, but I ended up dropping it because of her acting. I was glad to see that Dilraba's acting skills are just as enchanting as her beauty. She is not afraid to ugly cry, and I am all for that.
I can see why you don't talk about her looks to avoid it overshadowing her acting ability. I have seen that happen a lot with many stars. Their talents usually get overlooked because all people do is associate it with their beauty.
I am not familiar with her besides this drama. What is her personality in real life like? The greatest attribute to a woman is not her looks, but her personality.

I am not a big believer in fate and destiny, but in this case I will believe it. What are the odds that they find an actress with such similarities to the actual Chang Ge. Despite being younger than Dilraba, Leo has done a great job in his role, where one would be able to forget that he is even younger than her. Their chemistry is also great whenever they are together on screen.

Wow thanks for the thorough rundown mate! I do agree, that she is one of the most beautiful actresses I have ever seen. Her acting is also very impressive. I appreciate your drama recommendations, and will be sure to check them out after I have finished this one. Age wise, I understand that the actor is a good fit for his role, however, like you said in the manhua, the age difference between A'Sun and Chang Ge are about 5 years, so I was hoping for a bit more older looking A'Sun. In this drama, it appears that they are more around the same age.
Despite so, I am not one to nitpick at those small details. The actor looks mature and he acted in his role perfectly, so I have no complaints. I've been told that I can fast forward Leyan scenes and still be able to understand the drama, so I will probably be doing just that, unless her character improves later on within the final episodes. Romance wise, I'd prefer that they stick to the original plot with just Chang Ge and A'Sun. A big part of why I enjoy TLB is because there isn't much romance involved. Usually romances tend to weaken the plot or end up taking the spotlight. I find A'Sun and Chang Ge's relationship great and is of perfect balance. I am now on episode 44 and Hao Du and Leyan's relationship is a bit too sweet and sort of cringe for me, considering that they have just gotten together and not to mention how abrupt it is.
You are right about Chang Ge and A'Sun's relationship. I enjoy a relationship dynamic. where one doesn't hold the other back. Open communication, respect, and trust are great. These two leads are perfect, and I wish there are more dramas similar to this. It's been an enjoyable watch so far. Chang Ge's realization of what her Tao is was well done, and reminded me of the proud feeling I got when I read it in the manhua. Finally a female lead who is exactly how she is described. She is smart and strong but her qualities aren't sacrificed in order to fit it into the plot or romance. She has obvious flaws of course, but she clearly has matured and learned from them, A'Sun had gone through some growth and maturity as well when he met Li Jing, and I appreciate the writers for giving that.
Hello mates, I just wanted to point out the excellent casting for this drama. The actress who plays Chang Ge is perfect for her role, it is astonishingly uncanny how much she looks like Chang Ge. The tear nevus by her eyes is also in the exact same place, and I'm just learning that she is also Uygher? Did the mahua author have her in mind when drawing the manhua? There are just too many similarities. Also I'd like to mention how gorgeous she is. I cannot help but become mesmerized by her every time she appears on screen. Are there any other dramas by this actress that any of you could recommend? Preferably similar to this one, I quite enjoy the strong female lead and well executed action scenes.
The actor who plays Ashile Sun is also a great surprise to me. He is a bit young compared to the Sun in the manhua, but I have been enjoying his performance very much. His performance in episode 25 left me gutted. The emotions were raw and overwhelming. Very well acted. There are scenes that I can also find myself relating to him. He is a great actor indeed.
The actress who plays Leyan is also quite pretty. Unfortunately that is all the character is. I cannot get myself to like her character no matter how hard I bloody try. It is completely useless to the plot.
The actor who plays Hao Du is also quite good in his role. I was surprised to see that he has a much bigger role compared to the manhua. I would've preferred if they kept it similar to the manhua where the story is only focused on Chang Ge. There are too many useless scenes taken up by useless characters. But overall it has been an enjoyable watch so far. I am enjoying the dynamic between Chang Ge and A'Sun a lot. It is different to what I am usually to in other dramas.
Yes ... you can totally skip her character and TLB still sail. You won't even missed her in the story. My only…
In my opinion, Dui isn't an important character, there is no need to give him such a grand exit. He is a side character, not even supporting, his death can just very much be brushed off.

Oh wicked. I was going to ask if whether I would miss much of the plot if I fast forwarded her scenes. Hearing you say this is absolutely dynamite. I am still on episode 32. I'm looking forward to the arc where Chang Ge finds out about her lineage most. Although Ashile Sun here is different compared to the manhua, I am quite enjoying his character. Much more than I had expected. The actor is also very good in portraying his character. Episode 25 absolutely gutted me. Phenomenal acting.
She is an original character, and I think not the only one? My assumption is that they wanted to expand Hao Du's…
Oh yeah, she isn't the only one. It seems like Leyan's character in itself has brought along a handful of other unnecessary and useless character to the plot. The bloody crown prince is the worst. His character is not necessary, and absolutely makes my blood boil. The useless Susu and creepy kidnappers were also no necessary to the whole plot, and only took up valuable time could be spent towards fleshing out the plot.
I was also pissed off that some of Chang Ge's storyline was passed on to Leyan. Is that necessary? What was the point? Exactly my point, her story has co correlation to Chang Ge's, so why in the bloody hell she included?
Your recollection is not wrong. She was never in the manhua. If you are already at around episode 27, you have…
Her character is rather boring. I am currently on episode 32, and despite her so called growth I am still annoyed with character. What is the point of her coming along to the temple? There is nothing she could do by being there, if the situation grows worse, everyone would just be more distracted trying to protect her. And it is absolutely annoying how there isn't a single bloody episode since episode 26 where someone hasn't said that she has changed. I get it, she changed, no need to repeat it every episode.
The second couple, when exactly are they going to get together? So far Leyan is still stuck on Shuyu. She doesn't even seem interested in Hao Du the same way as he is in her. I hope it isn't rushed because I absolutely despise those relationships.
