rewatching this drama 4 years later, someone tell me am I tripping bc I thought there was a scene where ML and FL purposely stage a fight in front of the cat bc they knew that the cat had an implanted ears-dropping device bc ML discovered that the cat had surgical incision scar so he realised. I finished the drama again while skimming some parts and could not find this scene. Am I dreaming LOL anyone can confirm?

Specially, ML and FL enter the apartment and were arguing about possibly Tuo Li again, with ML telling her to not trust him n FL defending him (can’t remember). But fight gets heated and then FL goes back to their bed room and starts packing her suitcase. This where the ML pulls her aside reveals the truth that he was deliberately acting that way and he didn’t tell her before bc the cat was in the living room listening.

I’m honestly so confused bc I can not think of any other drama where this scene might have from. I’m certain it’s this drama but I can’t find this scene anymore.

Okay im eating this plot up (minus the ML having a fiance, I feel bad for the FL). I also ate up Mysterious Love, Embrace in the Dark Night LOL. I wish there was more full length thriller action romance dramas!

reminds me of Kill Me Love Me. Ruthless ML but crazily loves FL once he falls in love. FL is poisoned and just wants to leave ML and have a peaceful life (fake death time?). Main difference I think this plot is more complex and FL seems to be a lot more indifferent.

Im watching this more for comedic entertainment. I think maybe this aired to soon after TPOB aired so it’s harder to get into this. Esp when the styling of the ML is practically the same. For me initially the ML role as Nan Heng was very flat bc he was confined to the script like a two dimensional character (which he was), playing an antagonist role. Until the FL’s transmigration which slowly changed things as ML started becoming aware too. Loads of theories around such as it’s the script writer and also the actor of Nan Heng may have also transmigrated.

Then I started feeling bad for the ML as we find out more about his story beyond what the FL read from the initial script book, esp in the scene where the ML is angry at the FL for not understanding him and his reasons, why he doesn’t trust anyone. It’s moments
like these where I wished the ML had someone like Xiao Qiao in TPOB that tried to understand and support him. Comparison is indeed a thief of happiness. Or rather I just wish that he was more understood if I was to rlly feel the development of the romance between him (who encompasses both Nan Heng and Shi Liu) and the FL.

rlly enjoyed this drama! Love strong passionate romance with smart leads plus when there is a side plot going on. Haven’t watched a drama this good since Blossom! Side note: When Shi Yuan walked in saying “who said there was no commander”, I only heard his voice first and deadasss thought it was the scholar who had lots of muscles and claimed that he never practised martial arts LMAO (sounded like him too).

I do agree that the last ep was rushed and also there were unnecessary deaths. Seems to be common the c-dramas, we saw this in The Double ending (in the fact the ending was so ambiguous that the audience even questioned whether the ML was alive and there was a whole special ep created bc of this). I also watched Kill Me Love Me (one of my favourites), the first half was amazing (the deer hunt) but second half arc was flawed. Nonetheless, the ending for it was very impactful and left a long lasting feeling that I never moved on before bc of such strong feelings of love, loss and regret.

I did notice that this drama and The Double had a common point where it sorta wished the viewers well and returned us to the real world at the end of the drama. Very beautiful and smart.

Su E Huang will be around almost until the end plot-wise. But, she was out of Wei family's picture after her nose…
Thanks! Just off what happened in the novel, how long was it till Su E huang was kicked out from the Wei family then? Mid way plot? (I know the drama might not follow this, but just wondering!)

could novel readers give me an heads up how long will Su E Huang be around for? I mean at least to the point where Wei Shan cuts her nose and she has to wear a mask? Will she be present most of the plot? Or maybe only a few more episodes?

Also I’m assuming in the preview Wei Shao and Su E huang r wearing matching pendants it’s possibly cos the pendant is his older brothers’ cos according to the drama, she’s meant to be his brothers’ ex lover.

can u someone someone clarify this for me? I heard this was cut from the drama but in the novel originally the FL was reborn and it was actually a modern day person who transmigrated, but she also had knowledge of the FL’s past life where her eldest sister married the ML and ended up dying? Is this true?

In the previous life, Song Mo didn't tell her anything except that he is dying. In this life, even Song Mo didn't…
While she didn’t know much about the poison, including who caused it or how it happened, she would have at the very least know that grey hair is a sign that he had been poisoned.

Yes, she would have been powerless to prevent it or resolve it, but she should have known the meaning of grey hair.

I went back and double checked the scenes cos I remembered him saying it.

In the past life, she asked him why he had a head of grey hair and he told her that he gave his life to the wrong person and is dying at the 24:57 mark.

And then at the 34:20 mark, he told her that he was poisoned and was gonna die when he was injured by the soldiers. And he apologised for implicating her.

One thing I didn’t understand was why didn’t Dou Zhao realise that Song Mo was poisoned earlier on until Song Mo finally told her? Bc in their past life, he already told her that his grey hair was bc he mistrusted a close companion and was poisoned. In this life, she saw the strand of grey hair already after she rescued him. Did she assume that it was just stress or that if she could prevent his tyranny it would stop??

just finished this, glad it wrapped up well! I love the way Song Mo speaks very gently to Dou Zhao. I’m glad this drama features the leads getting married in the middle of the drama so we can enjoy the pursuit and the marriage life afterwards.

It seems like this year, particularly in the second half of the year, there has been alot of big hit historical dramas which started from The Double and then there was many more from then. I feel like I haven’t watched a modern drama in agesss

Though it seems like in many of these dramas in the latter half, it started showing flaws or it ended with an open ending. Nonetheless, I think for me personally Kill Me Love Me was my highlight (emotional aspect wise). What was everyone’s top one?

the scene when Dou Zhao was giving a surprise to Song Mo is hilarious. Not Song Mo having dirty thoughts in broad…
I just think they made out, not actually consummated their marriage. I think there will be another scene in the future, cos I saw clips where they were actually in their undergarments and the scene was shot more aesthetically/implicitly and there was also a confession vow voiceover I believe.

yep, we were misled by teaser for ep 21 lol
I had a feeling that it was just a misunderstanding for comedic reasons when I first saw the teaser AHAHHA I knew Song Mo would not be so obvious about it out of considering Dou Zhao’s feelings. And he seemed wayy too oblivious to the maid’s reactions lol. In the novel, he also privately requested that the sheets weren’t taken to the main laundry room. So I knew he wouldn’t be so high key about it here either 🤣🤣
