Idk if I'll write a review for this but after watching all 70 episodes of this:Not a happy story. In any way.Idk…
I appreciate a good movie review and critic and I glad to have read this since it has some contrast to what I thought about the show. Full disclosure: I have rewatched this show about 3 times so one might say that I did enjoy it. I would also like to share my views regarding the show in another perspective based on yours. 1. We cant really say that the downfall of Prince He has nothing to do with Yingluo. She pushed the emperor to investigate the issue relating to the first Prince accident and in the process put the empress in a bind. This then allowed Chunwang to enact his plan and approach Prince He with the story that the empress and her son were losing favor and that he had to rebel to save them. Ying luo calculated that perfectly based on each person in that sequence' behaviour. In the last episode the empress mentions this. 2. The first time the empress lost her baby, Yingluo was no longer working in the Empress courtyard so I don't think there is way she could have prevented that. However, she made sure she planned the perfect revenge against Noble consort Gao for her actions. The second time I do agree that if she had kept to the timeline then at least the empress wouldn't have died. 3. I on the otherhand appreciate the idea that she didn't end up with Fuca Fuheng in this lifetime. Yingluo was hell bent on revenge and the one person who could give her the power to do that was the emperor. Also it was Fuca who let her go so whatever pain he went through was definitely not to be blamed on her. 4. I agree with you on the Chunwang separation. It was one of the relationships that I also do wish had stayed till the end. 5. Mingyu dying even though it was not directly her fault, I still did blame her a bit about it. However, the whole reason she was forced to death was due to the needle reaching her heart and Yingluo. In some sense you can say Yingluo already avenged her. 6. This is exactly the part I like about this show. Many a time when a character in a show wants revenge, they give up half way or do it haphazardly for love's sake. However not Yingluo, she came into the palace due to revenge and stayed there exactly for that reason too. 7. She didn't only kill consort chun, she also killed erqing for delivering the last blow to the queen. Ying Luo was principled and believed in a life for a life so since the empress had saved her once, then she had returned the favor. However she got her "lick" back by obtaining the one thing the empress could never have which drove the empress to her doom: the emperor's love
Just wanted to add this so that Incase someone was looking to get some opinions before watching the show, they can get the full picture. This show does not focus so much on the ROMANCE. If you looked at the main character Yingluo from the start to the end and think of why she entered the palace in the first place, then one might say that the show was true to its plot.
The show is 16 episodes long, and we just got to the halfway point. Just the fact that he has a child outside makes the whole idea of reunion impossible to me at least. However, I think they might give an ending where we see that Dr. Seo is "not such a bad person" and he ends up being friends with Dr. Cha as they co-parent. After all their relationship started off as an affair too. I am not sure that Dr. Cha and Roy are the end game, but I certainly do hope so.
