Ep 20: Woah! Qiu Min really went down the deep end, didn't she?
Qiu Min is a complicated character. Definitely not a good person but it's complicated. She appears weak but even when she was a pathetic little girl, she always knew how to get to Qiu Yan. She was the one who convinced Qiu Yan to give herself over to the He family, essentially sealing her fate. She made it sound like it would be the right thing for Qiu Yan to do but really, she only said it because it served her. She looked down on Qiu Yan for going after Qin Xuan and calling her behavior indecent but really, she said that because she wanted her own chance with Qin Xuan. Even later when she convinced QY to break up with QX, she made it sound like she was implicating him but really, she just didn't like the idea of QY escaping with her lover. Over and over again, she uses etiquette and rules, and decency to shame Qiu Yan but all of her words are self-serving. Although she has experienced terrible things, I still think her main motivation is to get revenge against Qiu Yan. She judged the way QY pursued QX but the way she herself got with Qin Xuan was the most morally corrupted and indecent way possible. So she only remembers the rules of conduct when they serve her agenda against Qiu Yan and not all the time.
God I feel bad for Qui Min I really do, but, sheโs doing a little too much. Evil side characters are annoying…
Yes. I do feel sorry for her for the things that happened to her but she's no angel either. She just thinks she is better than everyone else. What she did to Qin Xuan was as bad as what happened to her. She took advantage of his grief and drunkenness and that's as bad as anything. I also think her grudge against Qiu Yan is utterly illogical. Qiu Yan never actively did anything to hurt anyone and instead put herself in harm's way to protect her loved ones. But Qiu Min constantly uses her victimized expression and the so-called rules to hurt her sister.
I think she is fine, but has some flaws. It's ok to have flaws, I have them too :D It's nice to finally see not…
Yes, she really pushes the boundaries. She's kind of inspiring me to be bolder like her. On the other hand, in some cases like her Mother's death she pushes too far but even her lapse in judgment and behavior is compelling. It makes sense that someone like her would make such a mistake.
It might be the translation. Not so impotant. I will give you anothe one: the title of Duke is lower than of a…
Isn't Liang Yi the marquise? I thought he was the one with the higher status! So it's actually the other way around and Duke Ying is supposed to be higher?

I agree, I love how beautifully flawed Qiu Yan is. She is intelligent and crafty but also compulsive and cunning. All which makes it so much fun to root for her. She feels like a real person who is trying to survival, kicking and screaming. Her sister on the other hand displays the pitfalls of living as a Mary Sue. Trying to be perfect and innocent and sweet but ultimately becoming a liability. A helpless, little thing that needs others to make the hard sacrifices so she can survive.
Is throuple an option? Cause I feel bad for the sml. He's such a good bean.
I ALWAYS hate second male leads and when he showed up, I thought he was gonna be canon fodder but he's adorable and so kind and he isn't pesky at all. I want him to be happy even though I love FL and ML together. I just feel bad for him! And he's so sincere in his love too.
Just the way they were all standing there like a murder of crows and listening to Qiu Yan recite the filial script, was all so creepy! They also have so many secrets in that house!
