It’s because Xiaoxuan has two primordial souls in his body; one is called Qian the other called Yan. Only one soul is able to occupy the body at a time and the current “resident” in the body is Qian (the one dressed in white). The clips you saw of Xiaoxuan stabbing Huzi is definitely Yan (dressed in black) when he’s occupying the body.
