One of the maidservants in Jiu Chen's pavilion (Ling Xi's bestie) used to be a merman. He was also Jiu Chen's military subordinate. Somehow this person got a trick / cultivating to change his gender. Now he is a mermaid, not a merman anymore.

Her family was sent to exile. I think FL and his father were supposed to get heavier punishment while under house arrest in exile, as they were masterminds behind the perish of Mu family. By that time, her father was already dead - maybe was sentenced to death in jail as he carried out all the crimes alone. HQ escaping from the exile camp is considered a heavy crime. The warden naturally has jurisdiction to punish the fugitive. However, keep staying in an exile camp means waiting for the death to come to the door.

Even though the drama poster obviously tells who will end up with whom, I still ship ZXW and HQ, nevertheless lol. I often giggle upon seeing ZXW's reaction toward the awkward relationship between ZYL and HQ. Every time he witnesses ZYL being cold to HQ, he smiles with satisfaction. It means his chance to get close to HQ is bigger and bigger. I bet he will throw a banquet to celebrate when those loveless pair get divorced.

Also, ZXW often hangs around with his two adjutants.
