Everyone : I'm so excited to see the Lord of the NorthMeanwhile me : I'm not ready to lose the innocent smiling…
Here comes our Lord of the North and time for Allen to shine even more brilliantly! I can’t wait to see his performance as he will give contrast to our Chang Yi, from a innocently sweet merman to a cold ruler. Very much anticipating his interpretation of his character and the beautiful visuals! 😀

Damn, I knew she'd be awesome in this role but didn't expect her to be THIS AWESOME! Those going back & forth…
To hell with official subs! After watching badass Ji Yun He, I almost want to start the drama!

Reba is seriously killing it as our female lead! I have been catching up on BTS footage and also clips of the drama on twitter. From what I have seen, she has been convincing in her performance that I am just so happy that she found this role for her to grow! Her acting has improved so much, particularly with her facial expressions and how expressive her eyes in the emotional scenes. There is one where she smiles with teary eyes and another where she is holding back tears – all so heartbreaking to see. 😭☹️

I expected the cliff scene to be fierce and climatic and it certainly was! My heart hurts watching JYE and Chang Yi but then to witness JYE transformed to fox form and wanting to obliterate Princess Shunde and her minions, wow! WOW! Reba was in perfect form, from her fighting stances to her vicious glares, it was glorious and the performance exceeded what I had envisioned from the novel. LOVE IT!

fmo. imo. tbh i dont rly find ML attractive. that MUCH. and like is said, for my opinion so dont come @ me otherwise…
At first glance, I think Allen is good looking but his attractiveness has grown on me even more with time. The flood of images from this drama reaffirms it for me. His Lord of North images in this drama is to die for! He appears imposing and so striking! Allen also looked very handsome in One and Only, so he is definitely made for period / costume dramas. The hairstyling and clothing make him stand out, more so than his modern dramas. But more importantly, his acting is doing justice to the character of Chang Yi. His naïve expressions are on point and his transition to a cold ruler is appropriate for his characterization later in the story (from the images and trailer footage thus far). I am really looking forward to his performance and could see myself appreciating his acting as he appears on screen.

Hi!!! Everyone is entitled to their own opinions of course, that’s the beauty of being human. But at the same…
Hear, hear! I wholeheartedly agree with what you had written. I think the majority of fans here are not opposed to contrary opinions but hope those who did not enjoy the drama to be respectful of the artists and the efforts of the TBW team. Many of these differing comments could have been worded more constructively which I think would lead to a more open discussion rather than resulted in both sides feeling offended and attacked.

Unfortunately, I have come across too many comments personally attacking our leads’ appearances or acting after watching a few beginning episodes or some not watching it at all. These individuals came here with insincere motives, cannot be persuaded otherwise and should be ignored. But there are constructive comments too. As a novel reader and fan of the story but have not watched the episodes yet, there are areas of concern for me too in regards to the drama adaptation. From other viewers’ account, the beginning of the drama feels too light hearted to me; I enjoy the darker theme of the novel which I wish the drama had adapted and felt it was what made this fantasy story different. I also read one commentator who constructively voiced that the CGI was overdone and pacing off. I cannot confirm on the CGI yet but pacing was also one of my fears due to the reduced number of episodes and thus resulting in the plot not being as cohesive. These views might not materialize to be true once I start watching the drama but I do appreciate reading another person’s perspective which would help level my expectations a bit.

To be honest, I try to open-minded in that some changes will differ from the novel and that the TBW team probably faced limitations and restrictions and made the decisions they did in regards to the drama. I mentioned in another post that there is no such thing as a perfect drama for everyone and that’s okay too. All I hope for this drama is that people give it a fair shot. Please do not downgrade the drama due to lack of subtitles, biases against certain artists or not giving the drama sufficient time to develop. Judge the drama for its plot, acting performances and if the story appeals to or move you (or not). If you still do not enjoy it, I (and many others here) will certainly appreciate your opinion and honesty.

Title The Blue Whisper: Part 1 Spoiler
I didn't read the novel. But all of you who did, you will probably know which part they have left out. I have…
I was hoping for 50 episodes as I wanted the drama to explore more of Princess Shun De and the Grandmaster's motivations as well as expand on the romance of the monk and Luo Jin Sang. I felt the novel can be stronger in this regard. With it being 43 episodes, those areas will probably be sacrificed or at least addressed in a more limited capacity . For some viewers, it might not be necessarily a bad thing.

The love story between Ji Hun Ye and Chang Yi seems to be strong and the focal point (as it should be). From the trailers, there are a lot more light romantic moments (which was very limited in the novel) so I wonder if the drama might shorten the torture scenes perhaps due to Chinese censorships/restrictions. I am just speculating here and wouldn't know until the drama airs.

I do worry about the editing component with it being less episodes and pray that the storytelling is cohesive and resonate with the audience. We shall see. So far, the TBW team has done many things right so I do have faith that they will deliver a compelling drama. No drama can be perfect for everyone. As long as the core story is intact, I'm sure I will love it and enjoy it immensely.

Few hours more to meet JYH and CY. I've watched 3 of Dilraba dramas ELOD, TLB and YAMG. Now my list of waiting…
Excellent! You have seen three of her most popular dramas and her upcoming dramas are just as promising! Girl has been on fire picking strong scripts. LOA is my most anticipated Reba drama and I believe 2022 will also be another strong year for her. 😄

Thank you so much for sharing! Oh my gosh, the video is so beautiful with amazing cinematography! Both Reba and Allen look too beautiful for words and enjoy seeing clips of the supporting characters too. I can't believe it's really happening! We'll get our Ji Yun He and her beautiful merman very soon!

Lol the drama really made Haoqing have a one sided crush on Yun He 😂🤣
At one point in the novel, I did think he was in love with her but am happy that nothing came of it. I hope in the drama that it will minimal longing on his end because I am here for Ji Yun He and Chang Yi and rather see the drama focus on their love than be distracted by another unrequited love. Besides, I like the character Lin Hao Qing and his character growth in the novel. His brotherly affection for Ji Yun He is enough for me without adding more unnecessary angst. We will get plenty of anguish and emotional moments from the main couple IMO.

Another translation: director Zhu Ruibin in an interview - When I filmed my last drama, many viewers said, why…
Poor Director Zhu, he got so much heat from the parrot kiss in TLB. I was also one of many who hated his “artistic” vision of this scene but have gotten over it long ago. He made sure to give viewers what they want this time around with plenty of kisses between our two leads! 👍

The offscreen friendship of our leads! Allen becoming the nth victim of Dilraba's sour yogurt snackx"DDDD I love…
The question on my mind while watching the video was…would Allen use that napkin he was holding and spit out that god awful yogurt snack? I can see that he was so tempted but alas, he was a gentleman and swallowed the darn thing.

I always crack up when I see Reba giving her costars this famous snack. How many micro expressions (not in a good way) can they have before they swallow the food? And of all her costars, did anyone actually like eating that yogurt snack?

BTW, thank you for the wonderful behind the scene TBW footage and tidbits. All of them are wonderful and very insightful, making me appreciate the cast and efforts of TBW production team. From what I can tell so far, they have done a splendid job.

Director Zhu RuiBin's 3min audio interview about working with Dilraba and how she was casted “When I’m filming…
Those are amazing praises of Reba’s performance from Director Zhu! It’s apparent that he thinks highly of Reba’s acting as TBW would be their third collaboration together. She is probably the first actress that he seeks out for any future FL roles to his dramas. 😁 Really love reading these comments about how moved he was by her emotional scenes that he himself did not realize that he was reacting to her performances by crying. I reacted the same way watching her Li Changge (I cried buckets with so many heartbreaking scenes) and I’m sure I will be just as, if not more, emotionally spent after TBW. But I prefer it this way. I rather be moved to tears than not feel anything at all. Our Reba has come a long way with her acting growth, hasn’t she? So very proud of her!

Director, Zhu Ruibin explains regarding RenJialun’s use of “the muscle chest”“Everything is for the best…
Thanks for the tidbit on Allen’s professionalism. He probably had to do some awkward poses for the CGI relating to the merman tail, plus the fake muscle chest must be uncomfortable to wear especially during the summer. He sounded like a real trooper and I appreciate Director Zhu’s thoughts on the matter. I think TBW production team did take note of the public’s criticisms from the first trailer and made modifications accordingly. The finished product should be much improved.

鱼跃而上 (Freedom theme song), produced and sung, by Sa Dingding Official audio uploaded on YouTube - provided…
The song is called “Freedom”? If so, just so fitting for this drama as both leads yearn for complete freedom. I have to say this song pairs amazingly well with Zhou Chen’s ending theme song and the vocals by both singers are stirring and so very incredible. I get chills listening to both songs. The music in this drama is beyond my expectations! It feels like Christmas to me. It seems like I am getting everything I can possibly want from this drama - visually, musically and hopefully, emotionally as well.

Wow! This page is buzzing! All the trailers and OST's are fantastic and any doubts about the chemistry between…
I know! The excitement is so hard to contain! Very happy to be counting down the drama release with fellow TBW fans here at MDL page. 😊 9 more tortuous hours till the premiere!

Also agree with you! Allen Ren’s various expressions in the trailers are so on point for the character, Chang Yi. I’m very impressed so far! It’s very likely that I will fall in love with Allen after TBW. It seems to be the trend with Reba dramas these days (sigh). She picks interesting scripts and we’re blessed with great male costars that I can’t help but love and appreciate them too. 😊

I hope the drama will be shown on Viki since I already subscribe to this service. If not, I too need to figure out where to watch the first episode on the 17th. I'm sure many helpful individuals here will provide guidance.

The drama broke youku record for most reservations , till now it has 2 millions! Previously it broke youku record…
Not surprising at all considering the amount of promotional materials we have received the last few days and still counting (I'm not complaining). Youku is rightfully promoting The Blue Whisper as one of its top dramas this year and it shows. All this will hopefully reflect it in its (high) viewership numbers . Go Youku and TBW team! 😁

Someone is trying to rain on my TBW parade! Nope, not working! 😛 No gloom or doom on this page as fans look…
Yeah, it seemed like we have gone through extensive military training with the amount of defending that we do for Reba dramas (TLB, YAMG, TBW and some preliminary defense in LOA) but she and her dramas are worth the fight!
