If I had a nickel for every time she plays the quiet misunderstood second female lead who has unrequited love for the popular male lead, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

The government HATES obsessive fan behavior. That’s why celebrities always have to apologize when airport situations get out of hand or when they “take up public resources” (trend on SNS) when it’s not even their own fault 😭🤚🏼
But really, they would be banning a lot of themes with the most random reasons: e.g. time travel (“promotes superstition,” “disrespects history”), harem dramas (“promotes negative social values”) and idol survival programs (“to rectify the the morality and chaos in the fans community” aka toxic fandom culture). It’s an interesting (but very much oppressive) deepdive.

Summit of Our Youth could 100% follow the dream route AND still have a happy ending. That’s what pissing people off. The drama had a choice… and they chose to end it like that.
No special permission needed either, unless Youku intervened. Other than the screenwriter and director, the ones who have a strong say in the story are the investors or producers/original network (ex. iQiyi changing the original ending of Love in Nirvana).
The Double ended vaguely BUT they managed to release a five-minute special episode/happy ending (which was obviously filmed while the drama was airing given how popular it got), so that lessened the fan outcry.
My point is: there are a lot of leeways to bypass the censorship, so everyone’s anger and downrating this is valid with an ending like that 🥴
Would someone mind helping me understand what censorship has to do with the ending? I'm late to the news but I'd…

Notice the recurring theme of waking up from a dream/coma (ex. Blossom, Story of Kunning Palace, Legally Romance) in dramas where the main characters are given a do-over in life.
The Double and the Legend of the Female General were also tweaked (taking another identity instead of transmigrating/rebirth) to bypass the censorship.
Censorship usually arises when something gets TOO popular. Examples: time travel dramas got banned in 2011 (after Scarlet Heart/Bubu Jingxin), BLs in 2016 (during Addicted Heroin), harem dramas in 2018 (after the Story of Yanxi Palace and Ruyi’s Royal Love in Palace), bromance in 2021 (after Word of Honor), and now, there are rumors that even Chinese BLs aired outside China will also be banned (after Revenge Love’s MASSIVE success).
For rebirth stories, I’d rather have a novel writer waking up with a new idea to write OVER waking up from a dream in a depressing reality. So many great stories getting screwed over by the censorship.
bro got typecasted as the adopted son of a rich family who has ulterior motives against that said family AND falls in love with the daughter who has grudge against her own family (they will help each uncover the family secrets)
Anyone knows any tea why this drama’s schedule been far behind? First, from transitioning to only 1 ep/day (instead of the usual 2 eps/day) to not dropping an episode at all?
Fu Shizhe (Lin Yi in When I Meet the Moon) is the uncle of Fu Zhengchu (Zhang Jiongmin in Hidden Love), Sang Zhi's classmate who liked her back in high school.
So what's the connection with first and the second dramas? Like first drama's FL and second drama's ML were siblings?

I’ve seen him in so many dramas (an e-sports player, a cultivator, a CEO in a contract marriage, etc) so I never imagined him to be in an omegaverse… as an Omega 😆
especially!! in!! motion!!

Unless of course, you want to consider creative writers getting more creative in bypassing the censorship as help 😭
