first watched him in A Girl & Three Sweethearts and he totally reminded me of Ikuta Toma... and then I found out that he also played Nakatsu in Hana Kimi (remake) omg
Actually liked this better than the Korean version! They gave the killer a back story--why he kidnapped the girls and what triggered it, whereas in Blind, he just kills them without any proper motive. I really loved Yang Mi here as the female lead!!
I badly need a season two, but I know we won’t be getting one since OCN has a loooong list of shows that needs a next season but still doesn’t have one (ehem, Bad Guys 2 and Vampire Prosecutor 3)
At least your longest drama has 28 episodes! Mine's only 25 and that was Boys Over Flowers (Yes, I haven't watched…
It IS cute, like seriously. Obviously, it isn't perfect (don't expect for some shocking plot twists lol) but I really loved My Amazing Boyfriend! The whole show was basically cotton candy--fluffy and pretty! It has 28 episodes so expect a lot of filler episodes (which I didn't mind because it was my escape drama so it actually served its purpose~). Also: leads. Some might find the female lead annoying but I didn't because the character felt like someone I would know irl hahaha! Janice Wu (and her chemistry with gorgeous K-model, Kim Taehwan) carried the whole show for me! Her character was silly and fun but she isn't as stupid as what she seems like :-) There wasn't any annoying second leads and there is a strong female friendship (something that is rare to find in this bromance-dominating society tbh) here as well!
At least your longest drama has 28 episodes! Mine's only 25 and that was Boys Over Flowers (Yes, I haven't watched Bridal Mask yet. I've always wanted to watch Bridal Mask but.. time, internet and basically life, sucks). Although I've watched a 28 episode Chinese drama (My Amazing Boyfriend) but I don't consider it as the longest drama I've watched because that C-drama is super fluff and is only 40 minute for every episode. I also tried watching What Happens to My Family but I only got to episode 17/53. Basically, I love binge watching but once I stop for the day, there's no guarantee that I'll be picking it up back the next day~ If you would take a look at my On-hold list (i lol'ed at your 'drama purgatory' because the accuracy is too damn real), I already have 26. I never skip any episodes or even any scenes (unlike some of my friends) so I got to drop what I want to drop lol
I am not liking the idea of hae soo and the 8th prince falling in love since he is married. Although it is a historical…
Same! I was totally Team 4th Prince in BBJX, especially since in the C-version, 8th Prince's wife is her sister, not her cousin. (on a shallow note, kudos to KHN for making me swoon in his 8th Prince portrayal lol)
As a person who does not rewatch dramas, I surely love watching remakes lmao. My favorite is definitely Hana Yori Dango! I literally agree with everything you said and if I had to rank the different adaptations, it would be JPN > TWN > KOR. Same with Hana Kimi!! I'm also a part of the minority who loved Ikemen Desu Ne more than You're Beautiful. It was an easy watch and I liked and sympathized with the J-counterparts more (tho nothing beats Hongki's Jeremy)~! Liar Game Korea is also a REALLY good adaptation but I'm still a bit biased towards the original thanks to Toda Erika and Matsuda Shota lol~ Also, Full House Thai > Full House Korean
Oh man, second leads are actually a touchy subject for me LOL I was totally heartbroken with Chilbong from Reply 1994 (really tho, watched this while it was airing and the fanwars between the male leads were pretty nASTY) and Gong Taekwang from School 2015.
"8 episodes like 8 light years" lmao so true! binge watched the last three episodes of White Christmas on a Sunday and boy was that an exhausting way to end my weekend. So many things have already happened but everytime I check the minute mark, I'm still halfway through an entire episode. The series was absolutely beautiful and mind blowing (Lol I think I actually had a headache after finishing it). The eye candy is just a bonus! For a lighter mini drama: Kim Seulgi and Doojoon's Splish Splash Love (2015) and Siwon's Legend of Hyangdan (2007) are nice too!
To be honest, I always preferred watching K-dramas over J-dramas. But every time I watch a Japanese drama, it always becomes one of my favorites! My all time favorite is Hana Yori Dango and Ouroboros is definitely included in my top 10. I don't understand why "it has no romance" is a problem; in fact, I think that it is a charm. When a drama is too intense with the action/revenge plot and romance is suddenly thrown on your face on the next scene, I find it really annoying (ex. City Hunter; I Remember You/Hello Monster). Another thing I can't seem to understand is the problem with Japan's cinematography. I was captivated with a lot of J-dramas' cinematography (ex. Hana Yori Dango; Itazura na Kiss). Some dramas even has the eerie and slick direction that I absolutely love. One thing I also love about J-dramas is the duration. I never once felt like a J-drama has to be prolonged when I finish one. We aren't getting any younger + we have our own duties and responsibilities now so I think the typical 16-20 hours of dedication for a drama is too much. It is also a given that we can lose our interest with a drama that long. Also, "too much idols"? But Japanese idols' acting are actually decent and aren't lacking emotions as others do... (ex. Matsujun, Yamapi, Kazuya Kamenashi, Tamamori Yuta... yeah i don't know any female Japanese idols)
Another remake omg the Thai version only finished airing last year and Japan hasn't even released the new Itakiss movie yet (still ???? about it since it has only been 2 years since INK:Love in Tokyo 2 finished)
I'm definitely part of the minority here but I absolutely loved the drama. In fact, this is my favorite remake of You're Beautiful. I love the actors and I can empathize with them more than the original version. The pacing was fast and the plot had less angst; which are both good things since I found the Korean version to be slow, dragging and a bit melodramatic, especially at the last few episodes. It is a remake and it isn't written somewhere that it has to follow the original. Ikemen desu ne is good in its own way and even has its own charms. I agree that the show is far from perfect but I think it deserves more love and recognition from the viewers.
