The first two minutes alone was so intense. Rarely can a drama hold my full attention right off the bat like that!

Not outright fighting back doesn't mean she doesn't have any plan! She is very much capable and intelligent.

She also got back on her feet pretty fast and is keen on getting revenge. She is one strong woman.

The Double pulling me right out of a drama slump just like how the female lead dug her way out of being buried alive. What a helluva solid start.

Fast paced but with a solid backstory and an absolutely strong female lead. Male lead has like 5 minute screen time per episode but that's enough to show how insane their chemistry is. Cornering and outsmarting each other has never been sexier. I swear.

I want to cry. I've been feeling down for the past few days (it's only Tuesday but I already had two absences in class—that type of shitty feeling) and the finale made me feel so much better. What a sweet and lovely ride.

Hahahaha, definitely not recommended. And I totally get you about Xin Yunlai! I love him… for him… and NOT for his acting.

I first saw him in Cry Me a Sad River where he was so green (it was his acting debut) BUT his character was such a sunshine so… I shall just look away 🤣

Yes, that drama! Unfortunately, I did not love it as I expected to. For a drama that has an otherworldly premise, it still ended up not making any sense. It is not convincingly logic-defying since the plot holes, lack of character motivation, and weaknesses in writing are painfully obvious. At the end of the day, the story is simply about the harem and court politics during Kangxi’s reign. A story of human nature and the things they will do for power. Repetitively.

The most interesting part of the drama is the 14th Prince and his relationship with his wife, though.

Xin Yunlai was also the 14th Prince but in a different drama, Dreaming Back to the Qing Dynasty.

Although, that drama was also based on a time travel/transmigration book and produced by Tangren, just like Scarlet Heart. And well, this 14th Prince did not end up with the female lead too. Less smiley, more calculating too. 🤣

Wait, I just realized both Lin Gengxin and Xin Yunlai were both 14th Prince before (Scarlet Heart, Dreaming Back to Qing Dynasty). My favorite Princes!
