I'm really trying to hold on strong to the possibility of watching this, plus character development was guaranteed for the mum.

It's been 10 episodes since the slap. Besides temporary preformative remorse, the mom hasn't changed in the slightest.

Now we are 11 episodes away from the end, and it seems the mom is set in her ways and doesn't mind offending her own children for the sake of her own pride. Being a glorified lap dog for her relatives.

What's really sending me over the edge instead of giving the mom character development. The writers are insisting on making the children's spouses "peacemakers." When really and truly, they're just more characters who'll enable and embolden the mom and her disgusting behavior.

4) Who are they again? If that's Yan Xi's maternal family, my money's on them. The Gu family lacks intelligence and foresight. YX gets his sense from his mum.
5) Hell, nah, they don't have the spine to do it. The s in Shen stands for survival.
6) Poor writing if the main villain hasn't appeared as yet. Unless they do that whole, they were there all along. You just missed the signs type thing.

To be fair, he didn't teach him about familial love. He emphasized that filial piety is above all else

THANK YOU! I popped back in to see if I could tolerate the mom for the romance. To my surprise, not only has she not changed, but they've made the ML into another character that'll enable the mom's behavior.
